My other thought is that if one was planning any kind of important trip late at night to somewhere that would be dark, cold, unfamiliar, and not a place to linger, one might well rehearse it by day, with no time pressure. Even more so if being able to find a specific spot was important, or being somewhere on a schedule. JMO.

Ah, good point! Looking at Google earth it doesn’t seem there is a path to turn right and go under the bridge but that’s doesn’t mean they didn’t if they didn’t want to. There’s no path after the bridge either.
There is a kind of path on a picture I saw let me see if I can get it bigger. Can’t remember if it was maps or what

This is the closest picture I took to under the bridge. I was mainly focusing on what looked like a path made by walkers' feet through a bit of roughage towards the edge of the river. You can see the bridge on the right hand side so it's very close to the path.

I’m really very sad about this.
I thought that there was an accident but it’s not appearing that way any more.
Leaning towards the possibility of a psychotic illness/ break.
Timing would be right for the presentation of schizophrenia and possible paranoia leading to sell harm. (presents in early 30s in women)
I had a young male friend who had similar outcome.
He was indeed paranoid and told a friend the day before that he would “see him on the other side” - which totally didn’t compute because he wasn’t depressed/ didn’t present as depressed.
He planned it all out - ordered a gun, thoughtfully went to an out of the way creek bed hidden from view and texted a friend as to where to find him right before pulling the trigger. Then he turned his phone off.
Not a word to his own parents who he was close to/ living with at the time.
This may be something similar. Certainly stranger if both sisters were inflicted with the same illness/ possible paranoia.
All IMHO
and still praying they stealthily ran off and joined a cult or disappeared in some other wacky way and are still alive. It’s not looking that way very sadly.

These photos were taken when the sisters went missing during the ice and snow. I think it would have been possible to walk under the bridge during that time. I wonder if the police dogs traced their scent in the other direction towards the boathouse or if there's some other reason they haven't divulged for being certain they walked that way.

The afternoon walk might have been to see how deep the water was on either side of the bridge and whether one could jump in or would have to wade. (I hate even typing that...) It might have also been an abandoned attempt to enter the water at that time. The women seemed considerate and might have feared that someone might come to their rescue and lose their own life in the process.

Re: the reported scream heard overnight. I did a New Year's Day "Polar Plunge" in Pittsburgh, which involved either jumping into the Mon River or running down an embankment. The water was 37 degrees Fahrenheit and while some plungers came out with no more than a gasp, myself and a lot of others were shrieking, voluntarily or otherwise. So I think it's possible, even if someone intended to stay in the river, they might or might not have control over their reaction to the initial shock.

Does anyone find it odd that none of the neighbours, friends and work colleagues who live in Aberdeen have not commented?
Yes, I mentioned this earlier. Usually the press are great at finding people who are willing to make a comment or two. I noted it only appeared to be family talking early on, and they're in another country so not really aware of the daily comings and goings of the pair. Even now, the few comments that are being made by others seem to be from people peripheral to their lives. No best friend coming forward, no partner, no other people from their inner circle, I'm guessing because they didn't have an inner circle. It's easy to appear friendly and go to the odd social event but to not really have anyone you'd call a friend. I think they lived quite isolated lives, making their bond even closer. Feeding off each other's emotions. Excluding the rest of the world, while still maintaining the appearance of a "normal" life.

I don’t really see any indicators of any of the above mentioned diagnoses, they could have simply been depressed or just decided they wanted to end life.

They must have looked to see if CCtV picked up any cars adjacent to the river at around the same time that could have picked them up.

All activity in and out of the harbour is monitored so i don't think an unapproved watercraft could have come from that direction. I don't think I've ever seen private vessels on the river dee, its used mainly by rowers.
I think their behaviour could indicate some type of threat, whether that may be actual threat or perceived threat. By perceived threat I think I'm referring to a feeling of threat or paranoia caused by mental ill health.
In the known cases of "folie de deux", also known as shared psychosis, one person is the dominant person, who originally acquires the psychosis or delusion, and passes it on to the more submissive personality. It is indeed bizarre and rare, but you can find a number of examples if you google. The "Tromp family" saga happened right here in my country only a few years ago. The very first we the public heard of it was as a missing persons case, a middle aged couple in a car. Then it progressed to all sorts of weird things. Rare, but not that rare.

Answering your reply to my post:
That’s true but often depression paralyzes a person to the point of inaction.
There is a much higher suicide rate within bipolar because action takes place in the manic phase of that disease and not in the depressed phases.
Also they simply don’t look depressed to me unless they were hiding it really really well. They appeared to be caring for themselves physically and accessorizing their clothing to a certain extent. True depression often leads to very absent self care, weight gain or loss, and wearing dark colors/ blacks and browns- not dressing up.
I do think that if this was really depression that the less depressed sister would have tried to talk the more depressed into getting help and not ending her life.
There is something else at play here
Simply all IMHO
