He is still under a doctor's care and still has regular contact with his advocates, so I have to say yes. I hear less and less from him and he is really ready to move on with his life and keep Tawni alive in his heart. That works for me because I think it is a healthy approach...jmo.

Hi Believe. Are there any updates on how Mike is doing? Have you been in contact with him or the rest of the family lately? I hope he is doing better and better all the time. Best wishes, Mike.

The pendulum has swung for Mike-he was miserable during the holiday and wants no part of this week and next week. He has to be there for Tawni however-now is not the time to pull back, although it is easy for me to say.

He turns 30 on the 10th Anniversary of Tawni's death this year. He doesn't want to participate in any services for her-he is mighty angry and frustrated.

I received an email from Deb that she was going to send me a disc with some snippets of home movies of a live, laughing Tawni Lee. If she sends it, I will make sure it is OK with her to post a link to it...It would be a nice, um, reward if you will for all of the hard work that has been done here.

Poor guy. I was hoping after getting out of jail, he would be feeling more "up" and thankful. It sounds as if he is clinically depressed. I hope he is receiving any help that he needs, including medications if necessary. I'm sure the holidays are a horrible time for him and, I guess, for anyone in that sort of situation. I do hope that he is able to attend court for Tawni. I'm sure its very hard on him, but come on Mike, its almost over (hopefully). He can't let all of his and your hard work go to waste.

'Taint nothing for me in terms of work-the heartache is theirs. Someone with very sage advice (cough, ADNOID, cough, cough) once pointed out to me that Mike could leave all of this up to others and walk away but look how well that worked out for Tawni almost 10 years ago...he has to see this through, imo, because he would just be running away from the pain of all of it then for the rest of his life....again, jmo as a lay person.

Ditto to the last 3 posts. I too was really hoping things were on the upswing for Mike. This year has to be incredibly difficult for him with the news being fresh, even though Tawni was missing for so long. While she was missing there was still hope. We will keep him in our prayers.

thanks for asking beavismom and thanks for the update believe.

lol, I can always tell when the server is about to go because I post and instead of the post going through, I get some goofy message regarding the 30 second rule and to please wait 28 or 29 seconds between posts. Physically impossible to send a second post with 28 or 29 seconds left, lol.

Thanks for editing the duplicates believe.

I would be remiss if I did not share some of this with all of you who worked so hard for this child...

I continue to keep in contact with the Mazzone/Obrien/Jacobsen family. The year has been a hard one for all of them, personally and in relationship to Tawni's ID. The family is virtually fractured at this point, but I hear the Tawni's mother and stepfather will be arriving some time soon to visit their family here in MA. In anticipation of the visit, some nagginq questions have arisen.

I never received the police file that Mike wanted mailed to me in Feb-Tawni's extended family opted to keep it an pour over it to try and get details regarding the days leading up to Tawni's disappearance. I received a late night call from the family member who was to have housed Tawni here in MA if her mother had not taken her away to AZ in the months before she died-he wanted to know if a piece of information was true.

Apparently, the police report indicates that Deb and Brian (Tawni's mother and stepfather) received a call from the police department in the days following Tawni's exit from their house-they indicated that they had a body in the morgue of a juvenile female who matched Tawni's description. They wanted Brian and Deb to come down to the morgue and view the child they had recovered.( This was the young woman who had been all over the news-the young woman they could not ID. Scottsdale had gone through their MP/Runaway reports and discovered the report that Deb had filed.)

Brian told the detective they would not come-that their house had been robbed and it had to have been Tawni who did it. So clearly Tawni could not be dead you see. Apparently the detective requested they come anyway to rule her out and they refused.

The body was, of course, the body of Maricopa Jane Doe.

Now this story was related second hand-I have not seen the reports. The victim's advocate attorney we worked with has 4 capital cases going on and I cannot get her. So I am left to wonder.....

It has been a year since we worked so hard to get some justice for this child after she was ID'd....and the questions seem to be growing in number rather than reducing.

In any case, bless all of you who worked so hard!!!

OMG. I agree with Adnoids post, words escape me. I'll admit I am not a fan of Debs. I don't have any respect for a mother, or a parent who puts a significant other over the needs of their children at the expense of their children.

I don't think knowing those details would further help this case now. In the end what matters is that Tawni was id'd and loved by us here, and many other strangers who worked this case outside of WS. We can pray for her family to be healed and for those members of her family who found resistance and brick walls from Deb and Brian to find peace and healing.

I do thank you for sharing this information believe, it confirms what we knew/were susupicious of regarding Deb and Brian previously. That Brian sounds like a real winner. I have forgotten, is Deb still married to him? Not that it matters...... but sheesh. Again, loss for words.

Deb and Brian are still married. This call was made in advance of a trip they are planning on making to MA to visit the family. The family is laying in wait for them, I hate to say. They are floored to find out that Deb missed this chance, then went on a cruise, then let Tawni's MP case drop off the system. They now do not believe her stories of hiring PI's and tracking Tawni's whereabouts all over the country in the 9 years that passed...Mike of course reached that conclusion during the course of the trial through conversations with the detectives and the County Attorney. But Deb's family has been bringing themselves up to speed via the case file. It's ugly.

Lol Adnoid about having to ban yourself.

I agree ugly, is all we can use to describe it. Sadly, Deb and to an extent Brian will have to live with their choices resulting in Tawni spending 10 years in the morgue. And the fall out from the family learning the truth........ all very very sad and could have been so easily avoided. Can't change history....

I can not believe she is still with Brian. Shaking my head.

So incredibly sad.

Hi guys! I haven't been on here much since Tawni was ID'd. I needed a break, but decided to stop by and revisit the case. This new revelation, if true, makes me sick to my stomach. Ok, I can understand not going to the morgue right away, BUT when your child doesn't come home after weeks, months, or years, wouldn't that phone call from the cops requesting you come to the morgue linger in the back of your mind forever?! Wouldn't you follow up after no contact was made for an extended period of time? I have NO respect left for Tawni's mother...

It just gets more and more sad...

Some of you might remember that I posted about the arrest of Tawni's uncle Scott for the murder of David King in Dover NH. Scott said he had been told Mr. King was molesting children by the current girlfriend of Mr. King. He and the stepson of the girlfriend lured Mr. King into a basement and shot him in the head. Scott was the shooter.

In May of this year, Scott pled guilty to second degree murder and received a sentence of 33 years.

Tawni's Uncle Richard had implied that Tawni's death at the hands of Walker while being trafficked (apparently) caused Uncle Scott an incredible amount of torture. Richard told me that Scott dropped to the floor, white in the face when he was told. I went back to review when Mr. King was killed, and it was August 29, 2008. This was within days of the family being notified of Tawni's death. While I understand that Scott was responsible for taking Mr. King's life, it is hard not to believe that the death of his beloved niece factored into his decision to take out someone he viewed as being harmful to children.

That's incredibly sad believe. While I don't agree with murder ( unless it's self defense- and no other choice) it's tragic to see how Walkers actions have further caused pain and harm. Even sadder to know one man lost his life, another will do 33 years and Walker got a walk in the park with such a small sentence for Tawni's death.

Gosh - I haven't been on Tawni's forum for so long - I missed all the latest news! Thank you so much, beleive09 for keeping us all up to speed. Tawni has been so much on my my these past few weeks, as I'm sure is the case with many of ya'll.

I'm sorry to say, nothing that Deb did or does surprises me at all. There is no doubt in my mind that Brian was not alone in the decision not to go to the morgue. The more that comes out, the more I believe Deb and Brian both were happy that Tawni was gone from them and didn't much care where she was. But the thought that this beautiful girl lay unidentified for 10 more years is just too much to bear. What I just can't understand is why, if she was such a handful for them, didn't they leave her in MA where she wanted to be and where she had people who loved her and did want her around? It's all just so senseless.

I think about Mike often and sincerely hope he is finding his way to happiness. So many lives broken at the hands of a worthless, two-bit con man. :furious:
