NEW: Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis asks court to commence trial for all 19 defendants on OCTOBER 23, 2023.

The move follows a demand for a speedy trial by one of Trump's co-defendants, Kenneth Chesebro. Under Georgia law, defendants who make a speedy trial demand in Fulton County are supposed to go to trial within roughly 4 months -- if not, that could be grounds for dismissal.

Patrick Labat, Sheriff of Fulton County walks next to the entrance of the Fulton County Jail, as former U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to turn himself in to be processed after his Georgia indictment, in Atlanta.

I wish they would wear more protective gear. It only takes one nut job with a gun to cause immense damage.
IMO

He’s probably working out and eating lots of fruits and salads!
Or maybe he's taking one of those new diet pills. JMO

This is going to get messy, imo. Do all 19 have to agree, or will they split the trial to "speedy" and "not speedy?"

I'm guessing D.A. Willis was prepared for this possibility. She seems ready to have the trial now.

Is this an indication Trump will show up at the jail this evening?

"As for when Trump might possibly arrive in Atlanta, we’ve learned the FAA has issued flight restrictions around the Fulton County Jail Thursday from 6:45 p.m. until 9 p.m."

Oh darn - I will be asleep by then; guess I shall have to catch in my morning...

These are the people I have no info on no surrender date & some have bonds already. Does that mean they surrendered?

Jeffrey Bossert Clark - nothing
Robert David Cheeley - Bond @ $5oK
Michael A. Roman - Bond @ $50K
Shawn Micah Tresher Still - Bond @ $10K
Stephen Cliffgard Lee - Bond @ $75K
Harrison William Prescott Floyd - nothing
Trevian C. Kutti - nothing
Misty Hampton - nothing

Maybe they are waiting for the last minute. As of this post, they have 23 hours left before the deadline.

What happens if anyone doesn't present by the deadline ?

Possibly.
Figure tonight is going to be too crazy to even attempt to head down there to surrender. That doesn't leave much in the way of time.
We shall see. At this point I'm more interested in their time crunch than Former Guy's appearance tonight. His is a done deal, pretty much. The others could end up being picked up - and not by a limo.

I assume they would be picked up by a law-enforcement officer and brought in.

And it wouldn't be this "quick" process that we've seen so far. It would be in their best interests to be on the phone with the DA's office asap.

I agree. But this man exudes confidence and I expect he can handle whatever might come his way. Atlanta law enforcement have seen it all.

However, I'm expecting it to stay peaceful.
