Personally I think it’s highly unlikely that someone guilty of abducting and murdering Madeleine McCann would ever admit to such a crime as a characteristic of a psychopathic nature is retaining control, taunting and causing ongoing suffering to victims’ families by keeping them guessing. Nor do I believe that the Germans would “reward” any such individual for admitting to such a heinous crime. JMO.

A reward so to speak in exchange for a confession ? The kind such a bragger with nothing to lose might make hmm? I won't discount it . A fantasist could actually enjoy becoming notorious I suppose .

Well, let's very seriously hope that this is not a scenario that we're ever going to have to contend with.

I can't think of a worse outcome as far as MM is concerned. And I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that.

Anyway, not to worry, HCW says he's got it in the bag, that he's got conclusive proof as to CB's guilt, so no way, come the time if/when it comes, will CB ever be convicted without clear and compelling and conclusive evidence, so this 'confession for gain' notion being posited on here is really not something anyone with an ounce of objectivity need concern themselves with.

It would be interesting to know how many witnesses have been called by the prosecution and how many by the defence. IMO most will be for the prosecution.

All will be revealed in a few months.

I imagine most just want facts and justice tbh
Exactly! I’m curious, to what level of factual evidemnce will convince you that CB is responsible? Perhaps equate it to another case you’vefollowed & use that for consistency.

IMO they’ll likely have a strong witness pool for this trial & the MM one.

I think it’s possibly a bit too convenient to skip the fact that this isn’t really just HCW the one-man-band who’s solely out to turn heads & put CB away. In the MM case it’s actually SY, the PJ, the BKA & the Braunschweig public prosecutors office all solely investigating CB & combining resources, which will certainly overlap into these 5 linked cases. IMO there’s only one sensible conclusion to come to, which is that they’re all investing because they have facts and evidence!

Context is key. My opinion

There's an article behind a paywall where the OP is naming witnesses( much like his Mail piece above), also this.

Due to the severity of the attack on Behan, under section 66 of the German criminal code, the panel of judges will have the option of sentencing Brueckner to an ‘incapacitation order’, or effectively a permanent life sentence.

I wonder if he intends to attend the trial

Why does she need to be protected as a witness in a trial against a perp, that is already behind bars?

Because the alleged perp might know people who aren't behind bars? Also I assume her testimony will also reveal some things about others, specifically about how LE in Portugal handled her case.

I truly hope she receives any protection or support she wants.
All IMO.

Daily Mail makes wild claims.

As usual I get the feeling it's sensational reporting rather than actual witness protection. The witness is coming to a foreign country to testify in court - of course police will look after her!

According to Olives Press a witness has been ordered to attend from abroad? (Asia).

I wonder if we'll get a full media circus around this or whether it'll just be local media

Can't really imagine the german majors assigning a reporter to sit through it all but perhaps a stringer will syndicate it?

Obviously the UK tabs will have their man on the ground

Possible yes, but speculative as well.

My own speculation: There are videos, including a particular modus operandi. If the prosecutors will pin CB on Hazel, they will be able to pin him on Maddie and maybe others, we do not know about yet.

So Hazel may be kind of a "key witness" in some way?! We'll see....

@SuperdadV8 "Pin on" sounds like you don't think they will necessarily prove each case?

But I don't think the judges will find him guilty in each case if they aren't satisfied with the level of proof for each.

Sounds like he's already there, his tent pitched outside the courthouse. He's already reported twice from Braunschweig.

CP currently living in Cambodia iirc.

Could well be him. Although if it is him, what a lot it says about the calibre of witness here... living in Cambodia under an assumed name...! Deary me! What a line up of upstanding witnessess we have to look forward to!

But, he gave evidence in the DM trial, according to this link, so it seems a likely guess that it's him and that he's likely to attend.
