It is mind-boggling to me that police supposedly waited 9 days to review security footage from businesses in the area.

I wonder if LE may have had tunnel vision in the beginning of the case, believing that the perp had to be from the community. If so, they may not have felt they needed to look outside of the community and, therefore, didn’t think obtaining and reviewing surveillance on routes out of town were worthy of their available resources at the time (right or wrong, I won’t say). Then when they realized there was the real possibility that it wasn’t someone in Moscow that committed the murders, they started checking for surveillance on the edges of town. They didn’t start including their request for video surveillance in specific areas until November 19th, 6 days after the murders.

Is it safe to say we can now narrow the murder time from 3-3:45am....

It's no coincidence LE is looking for a specific small white sedan, and one seen speeding at 3:45 caught on gas station cam are one in the same.

At one time coroner's where MDs specializing in forensics pathology. My father was a pathologist and substituted for the city coroner. He did not have a law degree but could write the reports. If it has become more of a public office, then I can see how a law degree with a medical background and using a pathologist to report findings would work. If it is difficult to fill such a position at city / state pay, I can see how that can evolve in that way. Look up a definition mine says an MD specializing in forensic pathology

Thank you for further clarifying! I had always thought they were MDs too. I'm in Australia - it's similar and has evolved similarly. Back in the day, in small towns, the local doctor would do the autopsy and report on cause of death. We're not even trained in that now and it's a specialty of its own, as you said. The coroner's background has always been somewhat varied to me, but I settled on them all being legally trained, it seemed.

You can tell in the photo the road has 1 lane in each direction and based on the curb/gas station driveway it is clear the camera is looking at White Ave and the car is heading west toward Rt 8.

Good point, I didn’t notice Styner as I got caught up by Troy Rd intersecting it and that being a main road.

Do you think the attendant would say she saw the car turn onto a side street though if it were Styner, as to me personally I see if the car were travelling West on White (towards Troy) that the car then going into Styner would be a continuation of its path rather than “turning off”.

That very well could be taking what she has said way too literally, but that’s my takeaway from it.

I also find it strange if the perp was heading back in the direction of the crime scene HOWEVER I also get that he would be full of adrenaline plus likely trying to take different routes to usual (if local) and potentially making wrong turns accidentally or on purpose so I’m not sure the direction alone would stop me from considering Styner as an option.

I must also add that I would find Hansen Ave a strange spot for them to turn down and stay. And I would assume as she didn’t make a comment that she saw it turn back out that it’s more likely the side street wasn’t a no through road or they would be pretty easy to track down, no?

I did think what if he wasn’t heading back, but going to his destination or residence via a back way - to avoid something, an ultra-lighted intersection, or a elementary school Cam kind of thing.

Going back to the police officers were looking for a white car in the vicinity of 1122 King Rd after 3 Am. Correct ?

The gas station attendant identified on screen a car speeding? by on rt 8 and soon after turning down a side street. How was the attendant able to see that the car turned down a side street ? Perhaps, with other camera views and the car was further away.

If we used Google street view and traveled the roads and neighborhoods north of hwy 8 and east of the mobile station, might we find the car by chance. Google images can range in age from 1 to 5 yrs.

If someone thought the car turned south off of hwy 8 after passing the station perhaps they could search neighborhood street views for the white car.

There are a ton of businesses to get to, though. I will admit that a general request should have been made to backup surveillance within a certain radius, but it doesn’t surprise me that it would take 9 days to get out to certain areas.

Yeah after reading the DM article more in-depth, I think it's more an issue of sheer volume to canvas versus LE not getting any footage for several days. Apparently they'd been to this gas station before asking for surveillance--I wonder if that predates identifying the Hyundai--and there is a comment about them being at a gas station down the road the day after the murders looking for footage too.

Based on the photo and maps, it seems like the car had to have been heading TOWARDS the house, not away from it. Right?

IMO and if the car is involved.

The car is speeding and heading towards the house, but, if the murders occurred between 3-4 AM and the car in question is at the scene of the murder at the time of the murder, there are two possibilities for the location of the car at 3:45 AM:

• the car is speeding to the house prior to the murders and murders occurred at 4 AM, or
• the car took an unusual route, or wrong turn, after the murders and was speeding to get out of the area

Further, I think the list of side streets she saw from Video can be narrowed significantly for her to have that view.

3:45 seems late to be heading toward the crime scene, imo. (I am confused on the so called direction and route the car may have been taking and why it seemingly would head toward the house rather than away from it.)

Someone mentioned maybe the camera time was wrong. Maybe the station didn't reset the time last month when the time changed? If so, it would have been 2:45, correct? And perhaps heading toward the house to commit the crime?

IMO....Thats why the Gas station is secured with tape etc, the attendant is a potential witness and camera set up and the CCTV footage is evidence - so perhaps the LE are 'securing' evidence and the people who have obtained it???? Given the publicity surrounding this crime IMO I would think this woman should be in witness protection...

It's not like she witnessed the crime. She saw a car drive by. A car we're not even sure was "the" car. A car we're not even sure was occupied by witnesses, let alone perp(s).

Assuming for a minute that this image is indeed the perp, I would think that they have accidentally turned down White Ave (or even Troy Rd if it turns out to be that Rd) given the number of businesses and the presence of a petrol station, or they’re not local and don’t really know where they’re going.

The problem with Ring cameras is that they only start recording when there is something close, generally not a car driving by on the street.
