Yep, despite her claim she recused herself that didn’t happen in fact or by law. But she feels safe in her position no doubt.

I read that earlier - that in recusing herself, she had to in fact recuse her office and assign the case to another jurisdiction. Did she simply hand it off to someone she supervised?

If she has violated law in her handling of the case, such as recusal, then she should not feel safe in her position.

Is her job elected? If her voting area is predominantly black, does that mean that she will be re-elected regardless of what she does?

Wearing a MAGA hat in Chicago was already dangerous before this case
Of course it was. But accusing them of throwing bleach and trying to lynch a black man on the street only exacerbates the stereotype. There is no excuse for it.

  • #243
No one said it was proven

I did list the evidence which would point to his guilt though

What kind of a coincidence would it have to be if someone else sent him a letter, threatening to lynch him and calling him the same vile names he says he was called during the lynching

Who else could have possibly sent that letter other than Jussie and the brothers?

Maybe he got the idea for doing some weird thing from the letter.

A noose. Seriously. What was Smollett thinking? He wants to return to the days when black men were hung from trees because they looked at a Caucasian woman?

He's bi-racial. What is that story? It's both the noose and the man throwing the noose over the tree branch. Why did he intentionally (he knew them) mis-identify the race of his alleged attackers? Why does he want to incite racial unrest?

Yes. That’s probably it. And the person that sent the letter left the cut up magazines in the Nigerian brothers room by coincidence?

There are no Nigerian brothers. There are two men who are friends with Smollett through work. The two men are brothers who grew up in Chicago.

Two big nutritionist Chicago body builders who like to spend their afternoons clipping fashion magazines. It's not surprising that they are friends with Smollett.

Lol.

Nowadays we have to deny things we see with our own eyes and hear with our own ears.

It is the usual thing. Historically, black men have been terrorized by white men.

And vice versa, depending on which country you are in.

So he is his mother's son, she is black and his father is Caucasian. He claimed that he is not his mother's son if he perpetrates a hoax against society, race and gender. Does that mean that he does not believe that he is black ... since he did perpetrate those hoaxes? He created a fiasco and then claimed that he is a good momma's boy who would not lie. His hoax was to frame Caucasian Republicans for his staged street scene (sandwich remains intact). Why would he make such a fuss about being true to mom after trying to frame white people for black people crime?

I'm not sure in which direction it redounds, because we don't really know what JS thinks of the situation, and he can't know necessarily how all members of the public would react to such a statement (which direction does their own personal confirmation bias run, etc.?).

But I would argue that it's a different set of resonances, discussing mother/son relationships vs. father/son. We're all quite used to hearing about and referring to households where the mothers are described as the moral and mannered centers of civilization. "I can tell your mother raised you right", etc., etc. We don't seem to put the same burden of responsibility on the men, with the same knee-jerk regularity. We praise fathers more for "doing", being competent and/or excellent at familial tasks which require energy. So to some extent, if you want to evoke a particular outcome in the minds of the listeners (influence them), you would choose the parent whom you praised and "exampled with" more carefully.

So JS conveniently spent a few hours posing for pictures with fans (subterfuge for “volunteer work,”) right before his charges were dropped.

His time spent “volunteering” was part of the reason his charges were dropped. Are we supposed to believe he wasn’t aware his sudden burst of altruism wasn’t contributing to his charges being dropped? Are we supposed to believe he wasn’t told in advance to pretend to care about something other than himself, for optics sake?

Please can we stop calling what this smug narcissistic did volunteer work? True volunteering should involve getting your fingernails dirty and actually HELPING in some way. Community service DEFINITELY involves getting your hands dirty. He wore a suit, slim tie, and shades, for Christ’s sake!

Preening and strutting around taking pictures with fans, signing autographs, and talking to friends and fans is NOT volunteer work, chile please. All it did was further feed his ego. It was totally self-serving and helped nobody but himself. We see you, Jussie.

Since when is volunteer work considered community service, anyway?

Does anyone find Jesse Jacksons involvement in this weird, he was so angry when it happened first and now is saying things like its a non violent crime so why does it matter. The only way this was a non violent crime is if Jussie staged it otherwise it was a violent crime.
I don't get the cognitive dissonance of essentially admitting he did this but also that he shouldn't be punished because there wasn't violence

Also here he is getting an award from Kim Foxx a week after Jussies arrest Pictured: Recused prosecutor Kim Foxx with Jesse Jackson during Jussie Smollett probe | Daily Mail Online

THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS IN THE JUSSIE SMOLLETT CASE

Why were the charges dropped if the State's Attorney's office says he is guilty?

First Assistant State's Attorney Joseph Magats said he decided to drop the charges because Smollett is not a violent threat to the community and because his office prioritizes violent crimes.

He admitted that he thinks Smollett is guilty and said the evidence stands up but claims because Smollett has no prior criminal background, justice has been served.

Few are satisfied with that answer and say the real reason is more nefarious.

Why was the case sealed?

On Tuesday, a judge granted Smollett's attorney's motion to seal the case but there is no written record of it and now it has been wiped from the court's records.

The judge did not ask a single question about why the case was suddenly dropped or how the decision had been reached.

Smollett initially said he welcomed the trial and wanted cameras inside for the public to see the evidence.

Now, critics are demanding to see it all and say that if he is innocent, he has nothing to hide.

His lawyers have not said why they wanted the records sealed.

Why did he do community service and pay $10,000 if he is innocent?

Smollett's attorneys insisted the outcome was not a plea deal but legal experts have unanimously described it as unusual for a defendant to complete community service and pay the city if he is innocent.

The State's Attorney's office said on Tuesday that the charges would not have been dropped if he had not completed it.

When did they reach a deal and why was it done in secret?

The State's Attorney's office will not give details about its interactions with Smollett in the days before the announcement.

It remains unclear how long it has been discussing this outcome with his attorneys and what other options, if any, were discussed to reach this point.

What really happened on the night of the attack if Smollett did not stage it?

There is still no explanation for why brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo attacked Smollett, who they were friends with and trained with at the gym, if he did not ask them to.

Smollett's attorneys say the pair were 'absolutely lying' by saying that he asked them to do it to boost his profile but they do not know why else they did it.

Prosecutors have not given any alternative scenario and they say the evidence, that Smollett orchestrated it, stands up.

The brothers' lawyer no longer represents them and they have not spoken. They previously said they felt 'betrayed' by Smollett.

Jussie has departed Chicago. Seen at OHare airport, going anywhere other than Chicago.

He can run but he cannot hide.

And "banked" volunteer work at that! (rsbm)

I reread those texts trying to get Foxx involved, and I think they will be spun in way to suggest they were unhappy with the way the CPD was handling the case so they wanted the FBI involved to get to the bottom of it and find the attackers. And who knows, maybe that was the motive at the beginning since they probably did believe him at first. It does seem reasonable that if your family member was being accused of a crime and you were convinced they didn't do it, you'd want the very best on the case to find out who did.

I doubt that he left finger prints or even licked the envelope

It is pretty hard to figure out who sent something. They do KNOW who made the letter though. The brothers were found with the cut up msgszined.

I don't think it has been verified that the magazines removed from the brothers' apartment were the magazines used to make the letter.

Maybe they were all cutting out paper dolls from the magazines together, and had to find something to do with all those leftover letters ????...........moo

Alford plea was mentioned when someone said that no one ever agrees to charges when they are innocent.

Alford plea was used as an example for when someone does.

Another user posted a story of them pleading when they were innocent.

That is all.

Actually when anyone agrees to an Alford plea it goes on their criminal record as a guilty.

The judge explains that clearly to each of the defendants before they enter the Alford plea so they are aware of that.

What transpired between the procescutor, and this one defendant had no similarity to an Alford plea whatsover.

If it had been one, Foxx wouldnt have been desperately trying to hunt for any other case that has ever been handled like this one.

Imo
