Even though what she says has a near zero credibility rate, yesterday when she was talking about how she almost threw away the PPL brochure and DVD, but instead looked through it and called for more information... my heart broke. If that was true, if she had just thrown away the damn PPL company information, they never would have met and Travis would be alive fulfilling his potential, living a good life with his family and friends. That thought makes me so sad.

This is what makes this case so hard to stomach. Unfortunately, I have a good imagination and also dear brothers and I can totally put myself in the shoes of Travis' sisters and it is too much. It makes it hard to analyze this case dispassionately (except for specific legal questions, so don;t worry!!).

I am getting nervous about this trial. Of course we know she lied to Det. Flores about murdering TA, but as far as her testimony is concerned, both my husband and I believe her to be telling the truth. We were raised Mormon and can certainly relate to JA speaking of their sexual rules, secrecy, chaperones, affairs, acting one way around church members and another way around non-members, name calling. My MIL told my husband that I was a "*****".

I am not defending her, just saying her testimony is believable, in our opinions, based on our OWN experiences in Mormon culture.

Do you think she could be telling some truth but twisting it? And even if she was telling the total truth, where is the abuse justifying extreme fear and ultimate self-defense? I mean, it kind of just sounds like caddish behavior - maybe piggish, but not abusive in the classical sense. What do you think?

Out of curiousity, do you think this trial would play out any differently if TA had been a female?

100% differently.

But Jodi had these feelings because of her own pathology, not because she was afraid of Travis. Big difference. I hope the jury sees that.

and am glad I have not really followed this case. This chick's gig is obviously to bore the courtroom to death and she's a piss poor liar to boot. No way can she keep her carefully constructed babblings together under cross. I haven't heard the Pros yet but many here seem to think well of him. All it will take is a good cross to sink her poorly constructed ship.

I hate cases where there is such a gender issue and attempt to use gender bias. If this were a female vic and male perp he'd have been fried already. Her act is pathetic. All I can see is they were f$%# buddies basically although maybe he cared for her some, at least at first with the conversion stuff, but he wasn't going to marry her but probably thought she could meet some other Mormon guy and marry him. If she didn't like being his sex buddy all she had to do was say no or not go on trips with him or come to his house-DUH! He seemed pretty easy to get away from.

I don't know whether he was conflicted about the sex with her or not and who cares how he thought about her. Even if he treated her like a booty call, so what? Seriously, we can kill people because we regret being treated like a sexual object when we're the one who voluntarily sought out being one. It's just beyond horrible that his poor family, friends have to hear this stuff that should have always been private and which I can't see has any relevance to murder. I have serious issues with the relevance of much of this testimony which is just designed to character assassinate the victim. It's not bad enough your son/brother is murdered you have to hear about all the sexual, not criminal, not illegal, just sexual things he did with a willing partner who now tries to rewrite history to make herself some naive virgin who couldn't stop this crazed animal. I spend too many time on issues of actual abused women to have any sympathy for an obvious liar who's trying to use societal sensitivity to abuse to cover up her capital crime.

I also find her affect very odd. Isn't her story that he abused her and tried to kill her and that's why she had to kill him? And yet she discusses him calmly for hours seemingly without extreme emotion like she's just recalling old times with friends and not the actions of someone you had to kill in self defense. You would naturally have strong emotions about that person which would seem to color your recollection of him later but she has none of that.

This whole case is just strange to me...
