The fact is Drew had control over many of the events in the demise of Stacy..except one thing..Cassandra's persistence. He could run around town placing calls on Stacy's phone to his phone..but he could not control who would be calling him or at what time. He answered the phone not knowing that she was in front of his house at that time, nor that she suspected foul play. It would have seemed odd to not answer the phone when your sister-in-law calls. She knew he would still be up, since normally he worked 2nd shift. Drew's MO is to always continue as usual and act normal (for Drew) He probably thought he could just blow her off, continue what he was doing and no one would question him. He doesn't know that Cassandra is on to him and is about to report Stacy missing. He doesn't know at this point that anyone is going to question whatever story he has cooked up. He doesn't know his time has run out. He thinks he is about to frame Scott R for this..he just answers the phone like it's any normal evening.
We have already suspected that DrewP had help in the disposal of Stacy's body, and IMO he had more help than TM. TM didn't mention driving the cars around, yet both cars were being moved around that day.
I wonder if he wasn't expecting a call from that helper, never thought about cell phone pings, and never checked the caller ID. I think perhaps he answered thinking it was his helper.
I am still stuck with the idea that DrewP laid many false clues in order to deflect attention from the true leads. I keep thinking about the report that the cadaver dog hit on the car, not the Denali. So what if DrewP was laying the false clues in the Denali, and the helper was in the car with the body? That would make the canal clues a false lead, and could also explain why DrewP wasn't concerned about the cell phone ping.
False leads:
TM. As a police officer, I would think that DrewP was aware that if any attention came on him, that TM would cave in to questioning. So why would he ignore that? Unless that was part of the false lead. Though using him to set up the cell phone ping from Stacy's phone I haven't figured out yet.
The cell phone ping from near Rossoto's house.
Cell phone lead from the canal??? Possibly.
Missing containers and barrels. More than one, which means more trails to follow.
The plastic chips in the Denali- a part of the movement of the barrels, DrewP would know enough that if he wanted to hide that he would have to clean those up. They are too obvious a clue. Also DrewP would be aware of the GPS in the Denali.
The trip to the airport with the kids.
I don't think the mention of Jamica and the airport were supposed to be believed, though I think he knew LE would check that out.
I think where the car went is what is important. The car was less trackable, the dog hit there, and where it was that day still hasn't been determined.
