TMZ reported that the person requesting 1 bitcoin says it’s because they will be a “nationwide rat” and they don’t want to publicity. The money will go to him “laying low”. I live in Ca and $67k won’t get you more than a year or two with our COL. Also, anyone can remain anonymous when leaving a tip. Levin doesn’t release the entirety of the letter, but says it’s “chilling”. Honestly, this emailer needs to play by the dang rules and either give up what he knows or be charged with hindering an active investigation. (link added by mod)

At least one note was from the kidnapper(s) because it gave very specific information about NG's room and items in that room (like the location of her Apple watch). Unless that info was leaked in the press earlier, I don't see how anyone who had never been in that room before could have known that.
I think LE has a list of suspects at this point - but they need DNA to tie them to the crime scene. My suspect list would include all the delivery guys and service people who had been at the house in the past few months. Their associations to NG are transient and they might have thought it couldn't be traced back to them. As opposed to her family or regular household help who would be the obvious suspects. JMO.
It hasn't been confirmed that the information they provided was in fact accurate though. I do find it strange that once the deadline passed, there have been no more videos from the family directed to the kidnapper. This has me wondering if they no longer believe those notes to be real

If it's not the same man, then NG's neighborhood is now very safe. Both suspicious persons seen within miles on the same date, and approximately the same time. JMO
is 5+ miles away considered the same neighborhood?

NBC says these were found in the home today:

Posted by NBC news today at 2:15pm EST

Gloves found at Guthrie's house are being sent out for testing, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a statement this afternoon.
The department said "several items of evidence" were found at the residence, but provided no details beyond the gloves.
The news comes after multiple reports that a nylon glove was found at the home.

from Gloves found at Guthrie residence, sheriff’s department says
The quote here does not indicate the gloves were found today. The department said items were found (including gloves) and sent out for testing, but does not give timeframe. Is there another story that says the gloves were found today?

It's my recollection that last week the sheriff said unless there were new developments, he wouldn't hold another press conference until Thursday (today). But I've also seen a tweet that the sheriff is not planning to do any interviews/updates today. Is that correct?
I think your probably heard him at the beginning of last week and he was referring to last Thursday (Feb. 5).

The white tent was erected hastily and stayed up for about an hour as investigators gathered evidence in secret. The only discernible difference when the tent came down was the missing bracket that once held a Nest camera a masked suspect was caught tampering with, according to footage released earlier this week.
Assuming LE gleaned some info., wondering what it was, just the bracket ?
This all feels like too little, too late.
Hope I'm wrong.

I don't think the man in the TMZ video is the same as the man in Nancy's camera video because even though Nancy's camera video is in black and white, you can tell the backpack is a lighter color than the coat. And in TMZ's video, it's the opposite. The backpack is black and the coat is a lighter color.
I doubt that it's the same guy, partly because of my understanding of the distance between the two locations and the time that the Nest camera was removed and the time that the guy with the two backpacks was videotaped. (Of course, my understanding or the timestamps could be wrong.)

That said, apparently NG's Nest camera is infrared and changes the apparent colors of objects. The guy with the two backpacks may have been photographed with a conventional camera, which shows the true (or almost true) colors of objects.

The latest ransom note

Right. So the second ransom note was definitely from the kidnappers and not a hoax. But it doesn't appear that LE took the note seriously since no payment was made to the bitcoin account. Since they don't seem close to an obvious breakthrough in the case, are they thinking they are dealing with a kidnapper and not a killer and therefore they have the luxury of time? I think there is a risk that the kidnapper doesn't even need to "kill" NG. He can simply abandon her wherever she is hidden away with no food and water and that will end up killing her. That is a real risk if this kidnapper decides to walk away frustrated. MOO.
Agree, I think the kidnappers may have panicked and scarpered by now. MOO.

yeah if the time stamp is correct it's almost impossible for it to be the same person...

also jmo they don't look alike.

I think LE knows she's likely gone and maybe they are gently guiding the family with that in mind?

Why does he hold the other backup up when he's messing with the gate?
looks like he was gonna throw it over but gate did not open

Getting a redirect notice on your link, do you have a different one?
IMO.
For some reason when I post the URL, it gives a redirect. It does lead to the article, though.

Seems likely

Why does he hold the other backup up when he's messing with the gate?
Only thing I can think of is he is trying to block his face from a security camera. But he seems to swing the bag around a lot to be effective, so I don't know.

If the location of the smartwatch was habitual and if the floodlight was damaged days prior to the abduction, there also are 4) people who work at the house.

And anyone to whom any of the four categories of people could've leaked the info.

JMO
One other category— since the ransom wasn’t sent immediately, it could’ve been someone hacked the police system to get info or even an officer gave someone details that shouldn’t have been released. These days, it’s not difficult with someone who understands technology well.

The notes contained unreleased information so either they are real or there is a leak somewhere and somebody got that info and used it.

I do think the location of the smart watch mentioned in the letter makes it harder to discount it as not being legit.

FBI weren't willing to state publicly that the letter was legit but them advising the family on direct appeals and them placing digital billboards in different states is most likely because they can't discount it either.

Thus a conundrum.

On the upthread there were discussions about how vehicles can be tracked on roadways by flock cameras, license plate readers, and traffic light cameras.

I found an interesting video on a YouTube Channel called Traffic Light Doctor. This short video explains the traffic light cameras that you see on mast arms at intersections and what these traffic light cameras actually do.

I will say that what we all thought the traffic light cameras do isn't actually what we thought they do.

How Traffic Lights “SEE YOU”
