AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I thought it was released on Feb 14th. There were some earlier premieres, most notable in NY and CA, but nothing tying it down to AZ, where this crime seems incredibly localized to.

I also know the line in the video released to the kidnappers also lines up with a line in Silence of the Lambs, but that particular line did seem more of an attempt to humanize the victim, to have the culprit engage and speak with the victim. I'm not sold on Silence of the Lambs having anything solid to do with this crime.

Regardless, there is no coincidence too small to ignore, so I'll definitely keep this in mind.
Oh wow, that would make it the 35th anniversary of the release date!

We discussed earlier that Silence of the Lambs was released on 31 Jan and 1 Feb 1991 :)
Hmmm. Interesting thought about the date. I know a lot of people get paid on the last day of the month. In my state all state employees get paid on the last day of the month. Maybe its just a day tied to the significance of getting paid for some people. Ransom=payday=last day of month

I am not very informed in bitcoin either, can they identify a wallet and if there was an activity on it and from where?
Anyone who knows an address can see money that came and went and the total amount in the account.

However you won't know who owns the account.

To me, it looks as though he’s chatting with a woman in the kitchen. It doesn’t look like an area that’s open to the public. I’m assuming LE spoke to her to see if she had any information about him. IMO he could be a delivery driver.

Someone will recognize him, IMO.
that is an investigator

But isn't it odd there hasn't been a more emphatic statement from the police ruling out AG and SIL? They are aware of the immense speculation, but all the sheriff said was basically "just be more mindful".
The sheriff did say more than that at the presser. The sheriff said that they didn’t have a “Prime Suspect” nor did they have a “Person of Interest”. The sheriff went on to say that everyone was a suspect until they were not. Suspects included anyone who had any interaction with NG. The sheriff is not going to give a list of people that have been ruled out at a press conference before the investigation has concluded.

Even Bryan Koberger who thought he was smarter than everyone else made mistakes. Trust me, this guy is going down!

Are we allowed to post theories here if they do not include persons mentioned by name?

it is fine but so many others used the phrase that as an independent woman in my 70's wanted to make it clear that is on a case by c ase situation. For you and your mother that was great for both of you. From now on if someone implies that anyone over a certain age needs lots of care just going to ignore it and get on with finding Nancy.
I'm 77, live by myself in rural area. And I'm just fine with it. I would never want to live close to my family or have them check in on me. And on another point, if I were ever held for ransom, I don't want it to be paid. At 77, I'm just fine with not being around anymore, and I would tell the kidnappers that and smile at them. JMO

Right, but in doing so, they're letting speculation get completely out of control. SG is technically a suspect by that logic.

Didn't a news outlet get the first ransom demand on Monday? JMO and recollection.
You are right. KOLD got it at 5PM on Monday. Media didn't report it until the 4th. "The first ransom note in the case of missing Nancy Guthrie was received by the Tucson television station KOLD News 13 at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026. "

Thanks,
All I remembered was speculation of something having been done "recently".
Did you remember if any particular contractor was mentioned?
I see on Sept 22, 2025 A electrical permit was applied for closed on Jan 6 2026. Interestingly I see no roof permit. Perhaps it was just painted and it possible that does not require a permit

He said they didnt have a person of interest or a suspect “identified” and “we aren’t there yet”
Funny the filters on here blocked out my word I must have written the initial for piece of $..T instead of POI. Oops Freudian slip.

I wonder if the mega brained computers at Tesla could provide that information very quickly?

Maybe privacy considerations can be circumvented by something like: Our Teslas send signals to us all the time regarding battery efficiency, auto driving etc etc. Tesla reserves the right to collect and use that info as we see fit?

In the this case, the routine signals are used to where certain cars were at a certain time?
Tesla owner here. Sorry, I'm waaay behind here in the thread. Yes, video can be provided instantly as it's simply recorded on a USB drive. The problem is most Teslas come with a standard 128GB drive which is only 3 hours total and then continuously overwrites the oldest files. Some Tesla owners do add larger storage but most don't. Tesla's security recording consists of two main functions: Dashcam, which records while you are driving, and Sentry Mode, which monitors the vehicle while it is parked.

The issue is it's now been around 150 hours since Nancy went missing. The biggest break in the case would be if the vehicle they were looking for happened to park at the Circle K location next to a Tesla with Sentry mode enabled. That would give a very clear, close up footage of a person getting out and back into their car. Anytime someone parks next to me or in front of me, or even walks next to my Tesla, it records video of them and saves it. Tesla does give you the option to disable or enable the Sentry Mode as it typically consumes 1% to 2% of battery per hour so some owners do turn it off.

No one is looking for the man on the monitor. He is the investigator. @MassGuy please edit your post to indicate the investigators are in the photo!

On another note, I keep seeing mention of an Uber Driver and I can't seem to find where that comes into play, as far as I know NG was dropped off at home that night by her family. If anyone has a link or can quickly clear that up for me I would appreciate it.

Don’t have a link, but IMO the Uber driver is significant because he was the last non-family member to have seen NG. JMO. He drove her to Annie’s house, reportedly.

Was curious about what AG has authored, but she taken her website offline.

1. Always possible, but if AG was in the plan, I'd view her as the victim. She did stand out during the family interview but mostly because she was trying to suppress tics. (IMO. All three children looked rather introverted to me, btw. Was it mom's trait? Was NG not too extroverted, probably not an idle talker, a smartie, an independent woman who made it even when got she widowed, until this happened?)

So if AG's husband was involved, he probably did it behind her back, or intensely manipulated her.

2. Highly possible especially if NG partook in SG's show. All one has to see is that the daughter is successful and mostly, loving.

3. Also highly possible. I'd bet on the abduction being for money in this case, and the person being "upset" with NG for being "too critical" or such. I know such a story, with a much younger victim. The person had a prior (concealed) criminal history. I'd add people from the "hired helper's" family to the group.

4 or 5 - sounds unlikely to me. If it turns to be 4 or 5, then, sadly, the world is even crazier than we think. I know things happen, but it is still unlikely. Although an "incel-type" could organize things easier from the standpoint of ransom notes, or such.
2. aka golden child/scapegoat dynamic

I’m interested in what time the email was sent. Was it before or after the news of NG missing and her daughter was a well known newscaster, hit the headlines? The timing may well indicate whether the ransom demand is genuine or not.
