Honestly, there has been so much happening on this case and so many twists and turns it's easy to get lost.

If we zoom out, I feel Occam's Razor leads us to the solution. What is the probability an 84 year old is randomly kidnapped and held ransom? What is the probability someone is kidnapped or murdered by someone known to them?

I feel the detail about NG being the mother of a famous morning show anchor is interesting / coincidental but not actually relevant at all to what happened.

Yes, although it seems SIL and AG are no longer living at the house. That could be to evade media scrutiny, but also because the house is a potential scene of crime (and they are not taping up the house to avoid prejudicing the investigation).

Can you imagine dealing with the disappearance of your mom, the possibility of her death, on top of having media surrounding your home and being scrutinized as possible suspects?!? I would definitely live somewhere else if I were in their shoes!

I live in the burbs. Almost everyone I know enters through the garage, even when being dropped off. We all have keypads that control our garage doors.

Yes, my elderly mother when living in a condo always used the garage door to exit and enter; never the front door.

I was feeling similar, but on hearing more details about the searches (no feds, no police tape) I'm beginning to wonder?

Statistically family is often involved in a disappearance, yet I am left as usual with this case feeling it's another roadblock. I don't know what to think at this point.

LE will need to tread softly because they don’t yet know if this is a kidnapping or a murder at this point. If it is a kidnapping and NG is still alive, they don’t want the kidnappers to do something desperate and kill her. Is this still a rescue operation or not? WS posters seem to think it is not but what do LE think?

But we know the earlier Instagram video was filmed at AG's house, implying they were living there at least earlier this week. And then they leave and the searches are carried out while they are elsewhere. Interesting...

Looking at Nancy in her photo is heart wrenching

Financial motive yes I can see someone doing this for money and Nancy is good leverage as she tugs at the public heartstrings because of her vulnerability

,why at this time , is it a coincidence that her daughter was due to go to host at the winter Olympics . Is it a coincidence her son was high up in the military.

Is it the work of one individual or a faction?

How is the bitcoin going to be spent is it about the money or the power and control ?

6 million is not that much in the grand scheme of things . The risk doesn't outlay the reward imo . You can't disappear with 6 million. Do they plan more kidnaps for ransom and are starting small to see what they can get away with ?

With bitcoin if small enough amounts are stored in pockets and invested can it be traced if those pockets are encrypted. Would the fbi only be looking for large monetary movement

My thoughts on opening the garage door... if someone is dropping me off at home, I would walk in through my front door. If I'm not parking a vehicle in the garage its not likely I'm opening that door. Do people really do this? Maybe it just makes more sense with the layout of her house. Was it opened because someone knew there would be a record of it being opened?

We never use the front door at my parent’s house. If they know we’re coming over they will open the garage door in advance. If they don’t, we’ll open it ourselves because we know the code (and I’m pretty certain we’ve also had our car buttons hooked up to open it as well in cars past). The garage has light, it goes directly into the spaces where we hang out. The front door, like NG’s has a security door, will be locked, and nobody wants to be disturbed by the doorbell.

My thoughts/ideas:
1) It's at the perp's request (more attention seeking behavior, likes the power)
2) There's no other option since perp didn't provide the means to communicate directly (which would give LE more hints to their identity)

The only communication the perp should want is payment. While we understand that there will be some back and forth in the negotiations, it should stay in business mode.

I agree that there appears to be an element of attention seeking, narcissism, control.

This is a mistake on the part of the kidnapper.

I have a question regarding blood on the front porch. We know it is her blood. DNA showed that and it was released by LE to press. Do they know how old the blood is? Is that able to be determined? What if she cut her finger chopping a salad a month ago? So my question is can DNA blood test tell how long the blood has been there? Thanks!

No, LE would never process evidence at another potential evidence scene. Cross contamination risk.

It varies on the house layout - All the clients I've cared for 80% of the time they preferred garage over the front door even when the front door was closer. It also allows them to feel safe, especially late at night. It was odd that the SIL didn't stay around long enough, but I know this varies on a lot of factors. As it has been talked about, elders even 80+ can be quite nimble and never rule out what they are capabile of doing.

I know it was mentioned about the health NG had, limited ambulatory, and suffering from varies conditions at the time(UTI, Pacemaker, etc) never count them out still. I've been surprised to see my clients beat me into the house without assistance, at times when I know my clients are capable I semi-encourage it, you don't want them to feel useless consistantly.. especially reaching EOL. It's not always, and again it varies on the degree of the health NG was suffering with, without visually seeing it ourselves we cannot determine it was bad enough that NG couldn't be just dropped of.

Wouldn't that involve potentially harming or contaminating evidence? I know vehicles are often transported and processed to more specialist centres for evidentiary inspection, however.

Interesting. I try to put myself in the situation of me and my 2 siblings and our mother is missing. Possibly 1 of my siblings has right or wrong, been deemed a person of interest, at least in the public eye, from the get go. That same 1 sibling has a partner who might be involved and I'm wondering what my 1 sibling knows or doesn't know. The most recent video to me seems like SG and her brother now know something about AG, and or her partner and my guess is that AG perhaps didn't/doesn't know exactly but now is possibly suspicious too and her grief, guilt is the emotion we saw. All JMO
IF the partner/ husband...I can't remember his name and know nothing about him...is involved, where is he now? Is he included in everything 'family' going on this last week?? Are they all congregated in one place waiting, grieving, etc.?

I was watching Brian Entin's youtube last night... something I didn't know... The family didn't find the blood by the front door, Brian thinks it was the Sheriff deputies that noticed it.

It should be cued up at the right time, but it's around the 24 minute mark.

Having elderly parents myself that really surprises me. When I come over to check on them and they are present, I still scan everything to give me an idea of what happened when I was at home.

If one of them were missing I’m sure I’d be in a panic, but I also believe I’d be looking at the surroundings of their home even more carefully.

I agree. The emotion from AG could be for herself. The realization that she or partner/husband are still under scrutiny. A more self serving emotion...sadness or fear... or maybe she is/was unaware that someone close to her is/was involved and now she knows and it's guilt. IMO, her partner/husband is involved possibly with others. The event of what was to come totally unknown to AG and that realization brought out this emotion finally. We know SG was very close to her mom and supposedly AG was too but to what extent we do not know and her brother CG, we know very little about him or his part in any caregiving of NG

Everyone handles stressful situations differently. My sister is calm, matter of fact, and a cheerful demeanor. I hold my breath when I'm stressed, talk breathlessly, close my eyes to hold back full-on sobbing. I don't see anything from the Guthrie children that indicate they are part of this disappearance. JMO
