I don't totally disagree with you about the messiness of it. But SG's pockets are quite deep, compared to her sister who I have read in other posts may be in debt with her husband to some extent, and live in a home worth under $1M compared to SG's real estate and net worth.

I think under certain circumstances, not least of which the strain and stress of being a primary caretaker, could affect this calculation for them.

I also think it's worth pointing out that anyone that tries to harm a family member probably isn't in their right mind in the first place, or a good person

I am thinking that (allegedly) feeling their mom is not with them, one question that kids ask themselves in such a situation would be, “what would have our mom wanted or chosen?”

And I have a feeling that they might have arrived at a certain consensus there. Or maybe prayed and got their answer.

About trying to harm a family member - yes, either the person is not in the right mind, or is inherently weak and easily manipulated. They can also be a victim of gaslighting who were simply feeling cornered.

I saw the drone footage of that on a local (AZ, though not Tucson) TV news. The officer poking around in the opening with a white pole had "Sherriff' in yellow lettering on the back of his vest.

That doesnt even look like a septic tank to me, it looks like a grid top with no lock and it looks like it’s open to the air,(it would smell wouldnt it) thats not even safe. Compare to the other one which is a septic tank. Or look here for Tucson About Us ( 3rd picture)
The one hes poking in looks like it’s to catch rain or do they have flash floods?

I'm in Arizona (not Tucson area, so take anything I say with a big dose of salt as I don't know Tucson codes) but I've seen a few covers of that general kind on old septic tanks, and similar on newer. What cries out "Septic tank!" to me is two access hatches seen in the drone video. This site shows a few photos that explain the layout better than I can.

They vary a lot, I've even seen square access hatches. I've seen small covers on newer ones, BUT, the ones I saw were small hatches within manhole sized ones. I don't recall ever seeing a small cover (smaller than human sized) as the only way in. And BTW, I rarely see locks on them, or even provisions for locks, though I personally think they should be locked.

As we get closer to the deadline indicated in the purported ransom letter, it occurred to me that although they said in the latest video that they were going to pay the ransom, why haven't they paid it sooner than the deadline tomorrow so they can get their loved one back sooner? Unless the purported kidnapper stated in his letter that NG wouldn't be given back until that time, it doesn't make any sense to not pay as soon as they said they would.

I have been and still am fairly convinced that this is an actual kidnapping and ransom demand scenario, but the family not paying it thus far (that we know of) - particularly after saying they would be doing so - is chipping away at my confidence in my own eyes and ears right now.

Guess we'll just have to see what the deadline brings.

And I guess codes or standards are different everywhere. The open top (thats what it looks like to me anyway) im surprised it doesn't have to be sealed. Maybe it’s all considered private property too so you can have it open to the air like that. Ewwww gross

That's like everyone in the US. And them cartel guys don't take sleep breaks! In 24 hours they can take someone all the way from Milwaukee to Nuevo Laredo. Or from Minnesota or even Ohio because Texas has like 80 mph speed limits. Yee-ha...Everyone be afraid.

Possibly LE have told them they are confident its a scam? Or they have evidence that it is and they are continuing to engage to hopefully identify them.

Even if LE said we are very confident we know what happened to your mother and it has nothing to do with the ransom request?

And even if the people requesting a ransom did kidnap Nancy, are they really going to be the sort of people the family can trust to honour their side of an agreement to return her? There is a real risk they could be identified by returning Nancy, alive or otherwise
