They wouldn’t. That is the exact opposite of how they behave.Why on earth would a cartel cause trouble for themselves by coming to America to kidnap a random morning news host's mother?
The whole point is being as quiet as possible, so they can make money through drugs, human smuggling, etc.
The last thing they want to do is draw attention to themselves for what amounts to chump change.
And when they do commit abductions here, it’s of their rivals - people who typically won’t go to police.
From what I’ve seen, if they kidnap Americans, it’s across the border, and it’s typically people who have dual citizenship.
Communications occur between them and the family, and they are direct.
Next to American true crime, I follow Mexican cartels very closely.
When I say they are not involved, I’d bet the farm on it.
