It’s an extraordinary courtesy if the family (SG included!) isn’t taken to the station to be questioned and make statements, IMO.

IMO, interviews are done “downtown” for many reasons, many of them psychological reasons. It’s easier to place someone under arrest when they’re already surrounded by police, haha. And the interviews can be observed by LE higher-ups and legal counsel, and recorded.

However, I see the advantages of a casual interview on a subject’s home turf. As long as it’s “by the book”, it’s probably the same thing, legally, IMO.

Happy to be corrected if any of this is not accurate!
The casual interview surely have happened more than likely. But to my knowledge we haven't heard of any "downtown" interviews. I would think the media would have learned about that one way or another. Even if, as someone suggested earlier, these interviews have happened in another jurisdiction, I'd still think that would get leaked. So to my thinking, there have been no downtown interviews of any family or acquaintances. I hope that's not the case because we're a week plus in already.

okay things that seem odd.

AG's facial expressions on camera. she looking dissociative or what is going on there?
the immediate involvement of police upon the "church" call.
the area of focus
evidence like blood at the door, unknown roof camera...are odd and not very helpful.

they had plenty of time to rob the house but didn't

I think they have to think hard about remote places other than the home that AG and her husband may be familiar with.

I really believe that if the family did this , they had a helper, because they needed to keep their personal vehicles out of it.
even if they killed her on accident. I think they are searching nearby because the vehicles aren't giving them the evidence thus
LE is searching septic tanks.

Agreed.
Going from 1M to 6M seems like young bucks out for a ride, actually...
Did it really increase though. TMZ said “millions of dollars,” and I presume that’s the same message received by the other two outlets.

This weekend we learned that amount was $6 million.

So unless I missed something, I don’t think the price has changed.

Maureen O'Connell was on Fox last night... I tried to find just a clip of it but was not able to, so found a youtube with the whole show.

In her segment, she said that the 2nd ransom note said Dear Savannah.

I have no other way to put that info here, so I am biting the bullet and posting the link LOL

(note: she says "samantha" 3 times before correcting herself ;) )

So IF the ransom note is real... is SG the target, whether because of $$$ or some other personal reason?

it is cued up to where she starts talking, but the mention of 'Dear Savannah' is at the 13:00 mark.

Is this something between Savannah and the person who is sending the ransom notes?

I think to say no cartel activity in Tucson is wishful thinking. Of course there is.
Who said that? I must’ve missed it.

Can you imagine if the press knew who made that call? They would be camped out on that individuals doorstep harassing them for info and statements, following them to the grocery store and gas station.

Or the authorities feel the call, has no place on their timeline. They don't do what they do to suit us. MOO if they felt it was relevant it would be there. They do not feel it is important for the public to know who made that call or what time.
Agreed. It may make a slow response to the call (by the family) look bad and I think LE is going out of its way to avoid the public jumping to conclusions till they're sure of things.

  • #14,447
No. But why was the call removed from the official timeline? It's a legitimate question, IMO.

I was just wondering - does anyone know if the church friend's contact with the family was ever confirmed to be a "call"?

I have heard "notified" and "contacted" when it has been stated.

What if when Nancy wasn't noticed to be at church - the friend dropped by Nancy's house and someone was already there?
👀
That would be HIGHLY suspicious!

"Cartel" "yard worker", come on now. Please.
As someone who provided overnight homecare for wealthy patients, it is essential to interview anyone who provided any property/home/caregiving services to Ms. Guthrie. The service people may have innocently told acquaintances about the wealthy elderly lady who is alone at night. My opinion.

Amazing how people who’ve never lived here see cartels behind every shrub, especially when the most high-profile crimes here have been committed by Americans
Cartels can very well be Americans. Hells Angels are home grown.

Cartel idea is utter nonsense IMO. You know what’s more profitable and less risky than kidnapping an old lady on US soil? Guns and drugs! Of which they have plenty.
And the cartel would want the national spotlight on them because they love attention.

Maybe because it couldn't be verified? 🤔 MOO

I'm sure it's a thought because of geographical location, proximity to the border.

Does someone have to be in debt to motivate them to commit a violent crime for money? Could it just be envious of other's lifestyle? Anxiety over future financial resources? Or even someone hating their job and seeing no other career path?

I just woke up. Are we still on SIL or just discussing?

When I heard about SIL as a potential suspect, my first question was, could there be another woman on the side? This would be a huge drain of money. Plus, he is a musician, a performer, it is a lifestyle where you are surrounded by people, fans. JMO. I am positive that in a small suburb, there are lots of gossips about everyone.

Can someone tell me if the case has moved on, or not?

If not, there is a chance that it never will.

I feel SG will pay some sort of ransom today. Sadly, I do not think it will result in the return of her mother.

This is one of the strangest cases I've followed. To me, Occam's Razor points one direction (the SIL). I would assume by now FBI/LE have tapped his phone and any other devices to see what he is currently communicating in real time, away from authorities. The fact that he hasn't been arrested yet makes me doubt his involvement, even though it makes the most sense. I guess he could have a pay-as-you-go cell device not in his name, but I would think the FBI would know that, given the technology at their disposal.

As far as ransom demands go, who gives two deadlines? If the point of the "kidnapping" was to get paid and get the hell out of dodge, why hold onto NG for as long as they have?

Part of me thinks we won't be surprised if the SIL is arrested....the other part of me thinks we will be stunned at the end result.

Back online after 12 hours off...

Is FBI Director expected to make a statement today? I heard he is visiting Tucson today as part of the pre-planned visit.
I'm of the impression they do not want to open themselves to questions at this juncture. But there are those with questionable judgment and lack of experience afoot, so maybe?

My opinion only.

They wouldn't have purchased a home close by if they weren't up for the commitment. Often in families this sort of thing happens, one sibling wants to do it, maybe if they don't have children of their own it's an easier responsibility to take on the day to day. Or they have an affinity to Nancy too.

They take on the commitment because they love their mother, but as time goes on it can become very exhausting and time consuming especially when one is married and they both have jobs. Things can always change as well. It may work for a long time and then something happens where it no longer works for whatever reason. Family dynamics change and problems can arise. I love my grandma so much and we're extremely close but taking care of her by myself is very hard on me sometimes especially with no help from other family members. ):

WHERE are you Ms. Nancy? I hope, wish and pray she is found soon.

MOO>

Why on earth would a cartel cause trouble for themselves by coming to Anerica to kidnap a random morning news host's mother?
One could ask the same question about Venezuela and Maduro (jmo). Neither make sense.

  • #14,460
The major cartels in AZ are known for drugs. They are violent, have no scruples about human life, but I would think word on the street would have already been out if this was a cartel hit. Drug cartels, however, DO USE BITCOIN to launder money, particularly Sinola. And Sinola is in Tucson.
Thank you.
