Yup, Yellow Snow has a whole different meaning in North Carolina :D

Last time there was an April snow in Raleigh was 1983. we DID have snow where I am in the first week of this month, but I'm way up in the mountains, and at a decent altitude, so yeah. Not as unlikely up here, down in Raleigh though? hardly ever happens.

Yes, I remember that snow, OliveLeaf, and BTW,

We're glad you're with us!!

I see you are here now borndem - can you explain the appearance of snow in the evidence pix to me please? Is it snow, or not?
I still need to go check out the earliest posts, so I can get a handle on this case, but the snow question won't be there.

Maybe nervous knitting? I don't know who she is. Also not sure who the lady with the silver earrings is.

Whomever they are, please friends, let's not let this become a mud slinging contest. I beg we all focus on justice and leave both families out of our discussions. :please:

You're absolutely correct, nervous knitting is a great way to describe it. :) She's a friend of the Janet's family.

I wish they could just blur the image rather than take the visual feed down entirely. I'm still trying to make sense of their words, and it's a little easier if we can see what they're doing. I don't usually have this much trouble with accents. I think it's a combination of that, and the poor audio equipment in the court room.
The microphones must be in inopportune spots to have the speech be so garbled.

Agreed, JJ -- I've never heard the sound to be so "tinny" or to sound like the speaker, Southern accent or not, is in a barrel. I adjusted the sound as much as I could (not much help), and it was still awful. Cheap microphone on the recorder? The courtroom and courthouse look like they're fairly new, so I would think the equipment in the room would be pretty good. Anyway, I'm bearing with it. Lowering the volume helps, but I do have to hear it.

Ahhhh, it's always something...

I'm wondering now (because of the license plates pic) if they have a highway or road camera of some kind that shows this plate??
I really hate not knowing much about this case - I'm not sure which points to watch for.

You're not that far behind, really, JJ. The main points of this case came out years ago, but they were not that extensive then. You are not really at a loss, IMO. There is a gob of info on the WRAL archive at

http://www.wral.com/news/local/page/1088329/?navkeyword=Abaroa

but the DPD was holding stuff close to the vest then, too. Her body was exhumed, but neither LE/DPD nor the ADA gave the public a reason for it... so don't despair, just roll with it. If any of us know something about it, I'm sure we'll tell you, but it's been a while since this case was cookin' and we're very rusty, too.

So she said they *did* find blood in the SUV?

Yes!!! A smidge on the driver's side doorside (doh -- the part where the interior door latch is), and on the driver's door, and on the driver's side seat. They took that part of the seat upholstery with them (such a pity). So we'll have to wait for the blood tech/investigator person to tell us about it. If it's JA's, he's another step closer to the Big House...:jail:

Listening to Raven's interview. Hmmm. Dislike. Forced tears. Damn, suspects really need to work on their tear production, cuz they suk.

Oh, and folks, whenever I say stuff like that, I am joking. I find humor to be soothing in the middle to trials, so bear with me.

Thanks for the tip on the link. I read what was available on the site that streams the trial, and I remember the quick sentence on exhumation, but you're right - no exact reason.
I hope between your link and reading the early threads, I can get a better handle on the facts.
It's sad that this case has been so delayed for Janet and those who love her. This must both stir everything up, and at the same time, give them hope for justice and closure.

My thought too.
In the Jason Young case, he left his toddler alone in the house with the murdered mom all night and into the next morning. There were little baby footprints in her mother's blood all over the bathroom floor. So sad.
These men are so stupid and heartless.

bbm

ITA -- East, I have been having WS flashbacks to Jason Young ever since this trial started. Both philanderers, both having each successive job worse than the one before it, both with wives pregnant with their second child whom he did not want, both too cheap and too broke to want to pay alimony and/or child support, both lazy & married to go-getters, both narcissistic & arrogant, both thinking they had gotten away with it (and did for a while), and on & on & on.

I would love to see RA end up in Alexander Correctional with Mr. Young. For life.

What am I missing? Why are the tires and soil samples important?

AFAIK, it's just routine. I can't see a reason for it at all in this case -- he has witnesses who saw him at the soccer game, so it's not for that. Did he dump some incriminating evidence somewhere that they know about?? (that one is reaching, IMO)

Maybe someone who remembers some detail knows, but I'm at a loss too, JJ.

Arial photos - the DT still hoping to find the "trail" of the phantom murderer.

Ooooohhhhhhhhhh, scary, scary. They're after the Neighborhood Coin Thief again. I sure hope the find him. The Terror of Greater Durham!!!

And they did find a dime - did I hear that one right? They seized the dime for evidence?
Sounds like the Neighborhood Coin Thief is a slam dunk for the DT. lol

The only thief in the neighborhood that I know of for sure was Raven.

They had to show the tires, because we all heard the lengthy defense opening statement about how LE did not do their job.

I mean, what's the significance of the gatorade bottle. How about the wedding rings near the sink.

Anyone find it odd there was no blood in Kaidens room? Raven put a hand print on Janet, then went to get Kaiden from the crib. I found that odd.
