State Motion to recover Investigative Costs

  • #201
A class action lawsuit against just for what you have said!:woohoo:

They would have a major come-apart on that one.

Maybe someone should start a petition at that on-line place, to get the word out to all of the volunteers.
I'm sure that some attorney would love to get their hands on this and at least get it on the record.

Not that it would bother ____ , or her _____, but why not?
Keep her/them bogged down in the court system forever if nothing else.

And, not only lodge it against ____, but do so with her parents and brother and his significant other, as well as throwing in M's mother. She is on the board of one of their fraudations. They all went along with the song-and-dance.
Nail em all.

Start making them show up in court, and show some accountability.
Their attorney's at some point is going to get real tired of having to put out time and money for them pro-bono.
These attorney's will start dropping like flies sooner or later.

Let them represent themselves.

I would never consider taking legal against anyone because I volunteered. But if I could think of a good reason to sue for their PIs calling afterward ~ Now that might be something to consider. That was soooooo wrong!

Fifth District Court of Appeal has granted #Judge Perry jurisdiction to assess cost of #caseyanthony investigation though case is on appeal.

Yes“@Kriss57: Does this mean Judge Perry could issue a ruling on September 2nd about investigative costs. TIA”

I saw this tweet and don't understand it. Was it even a question? Did the DT file something in objection?:waitasec:

..all that was ...
..7/14..judgeP retained jurisdiction for 60 days ( on the lying conviction ) to hear LDB's "motion for costs payback".

..7/20..the DT then filed their appeal on the lying-----the Appeals Court now had jurisdiction.

..8/16..the Attorney General then filed to the Appeals Court to give the circuit court/and judgeP jurisdiction back ( so he could hear/and rule on LDB's motion for costs.)

..8/17..the Appeals Court gave the DT a chance to say why they shouldn't...

..8/18..the DT DID file a response------( who knows what it said, probably a lot of blah blah blah.)

..8/23..the Appeals Court ruled----jurisdiction is back to the circuit court/and judge P for 30 days to consider assessment of costs of prosecution/investigation.

..9/2..(hearing date)----the Attorney General is to file a certified copy of judgeP's order on that with the Appeals Court once he has ruled-----at which time the Appeals Court will then have jurisdiction back ( to decide the lying conviction appeal.)

LOL for those of us who do not speak legalese!

LOL for those of us who do not speak legalese!

In a nutshell.

State's Attorney:
Because Casey Anthony was found guilty on all 4 lying counts, we maintain that according to law she has the burden of paying considerable costs of the investigation which were accrued as a direct result of her lies. As we advised the court, we are now presenting these costs and ask that Miss Anthony be required to pay.

Casey Anthony (through her attorney):
I have filed an appeal on the 4 lying convictions and until that appeal is heard and ruled upon, there should be no hearing on costs associated with my convictions on the lying charges. If I successfully appeal, and these 4 convictions are overturned, these costs could not legally be ascribed to my account.

State's Attorney:
These are two separate matters and the hearing on costs should not be subordinated to the appeal.

Casey Anthony:
Yes it should.

Hmm. Wonder who they plan to depose?
Cindy? "She was on vacation, bonding with Caylee."
George? "Cindy told me to leave it alone."
Lee? "I asked her if this was like the last time, but I honestly have no idea why I said that, because my sister is a wonderful mother."
Mallory? "I'm just here for the cheese."

For some reason, I see GA being thrown under the bus again. And/or CA taking the blame for FCA's lies, thus FCA is not responsible again. :banghead:

I don't believe that investigators at the initial part of the investigation paid any attention at all to CA and GA once they "had their number" during the first six months. The SA's have said they expect relatives to lie.

And anything they said, including providing information on "sightings" all over the States, had anything to do with the defendant's statement during this period. She and she alone could have fessed up on Day One and put a halt to all searches. Not this time Missie!

Very funny but they will be deposing the likes of Yuri Melich and John Allen.

I wonder who these attorneys are. :waitasec:

Hmm .. why do I get a double quote here? Didn't see it on IfIMay's post.
Anyway, curious as well about the attorneys. Is it considered a civil case or criminal case?

I think it is a motion on the criminal case. I assume it's Cheney and Lisabeth, the finger in your face dynamic duo.

I suppose there is something to be said about not wanting either of these two to be out of their "comfort zones."

HHJP is hearing it so I guess we can assume criminal? Costs as a result of a criminal investigation - and wasn't it asked to be considered part of the sentencing at the end of the trial so HHJP set a hearing date?

I assume criminal as well and according to IfIMay's post "it's the finger in your face dynamic duo" as the attorneys :loser: Article states they are asking $515,000 and the DT is going to fight it .. surprise, surprise.

I'm lost on all the motions filed, etc.

I just don't get it. What leg is there to stand on to say your client, who admittedly lied for six months all the while knowing she was dead, shouldn't have to pay the state back? Boggles the mind doesn't it? At any rate, I'm just happy that either a. Cheny et al are doing this for free and it's a pain in the rear or b. (more likely) will be billing the felon at a later date and I don't think CM's hourly wage is cheap.... MOO

..LDB filed a "supplemental witness list" 8/24 melich and allen..( which was why the hearing was put off on 8/25---for the DT to depose them 1st.)
..they will be among the lucky people being deposed today..

--July 29/2011.

The largest bill for the investigation and prosecution of Casey Anthony came in Friday from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

OCSO says the investigation into Caylee Anthony's disappearance cost $293,123.77.

Zambouros said the price tag only includes investigative costs though the day Caylee's remains were found off of Suburban Drive. Detectives have spent time on the case since then.

The OCSO costs include more than $27,000 for Detective Yuri Melich's work and more than $44,000 for Detective John Allen's work. Those two detectives alone spent 1,760 hours on the case in 2008.

..they'll be grilled on those 1760 hours, making sure they were all spent doing something that pertained to the "lies" part of the case, since that's all LDB can go for---costs associated with what kc was convicted of.
