State Motion to recover Investigative Costs

..LDB filed a "supplemental witness list" 8/24 melich and allen..( which was why the hearing was put off on 8/25---for the DT to depose them 1st.)
..they will be among the lucky people being deposed today..

..they'll be grilled on those 1760 hours, making sure they were all spent doing something that pertained to the "lies" part of the case, since that's all LDB can go for---costs associated with what kc was convicted of.

HHJP is hearing it so I guess we can assume criminal? Costs as a result of a criminal investigation - and wasn't it asked to be considered part of the sentencing at the end of the trial so HHJP set a hearing date?

..it's to do with the "costs" portion of the liarX4 sentence, so still part of the state of florida v kc original criminal case..

..according to the motion LDB filed, the day before the sentencing hearing, she wanted to make sure that the case wasn't closed out before her motion for "special costs" was dealt with. judgeP agreed, and set the hearing that day, for 8/25 for her to get all of the invoices etc. from LE and share that discovery with cheney/lisabeth.

..LDB's motion states that in ALL criminal cases, every defendant found guilty of a crime does pay costs of prosecution/investigation as part of their sentence. there are mandatory minimuns. ($100/per felony--- $50/per misdemeanour).

..kc of course went way above and beyond---to the tune of a 1/2 million...the Court "may set a higher amount upon showing of sufficient proof of higher costs incurred".

Thank you yes, - I did remember her request in the courtroom, but could not recall whether it was just before or just after the sentencing - couple of days there are just a blur. But I do remember thinking - hmm - LDB has something pretty specific in mind with that request.

When we were watching the trial on the live stream, during the closings, LDB was up and the live stream glitched or something, causing the screen to freeze and LDB's words to loop, sort of like a robot about to malfunction. "And at anytime...and at anytime...and at anytime..."
My friend who was watching along didn't miss a beat. She said, "Wow, she really is a machine." :floorlaugh:

I'm glad. But I don't understand why a hearing is necessary for this - once she was found not guilty, any and all evidence should be automatically released with the exception of photos of Caylee's remains.

It's getting a little old having the almighty court control things that should be public knowledge. You'd think they don't work for us.

I just don't get it. What leg is there to stand on to say your client, who admittedly lied for six months all the while knowing she was dead, shouldn't have to pay the state back? Boggles the mind doesn't it? At any rate, I'm just happy that either a. Cheny et al are doing this for free and it's a pain in the rear or b. (more likely) will be billing the felon at a later date and I don't think CM's hourly wage is cheap.... MOO

....and if Ms. Anthony's indigency status holds up, we FL taxpayers will get slammed for yet another round. I ask you, WHERE is the 'justice' in that?!? :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I believer HHJP will exercise his judgement .I believe he may actually enjoy exercising his judgement.

....especially in light of the fact that Baez and Co. seem to be trying so hard to humanize and otherwise generate some public sympathy (no matter how miniscule an amount) for Ms. Anthony by portraying her as in such desperate need for physical security and mental health assistance.

I'm curious as to why you "don't believe we will ever see it". I hope you're wrong, of course , but why do you think that? You don't think Judge Perry will grant the release to the media outlet that requested it? If he does, they'll surely publish it. So you don't think he'll grant it?
