New simulation video. Translation:
#PPTVHD36 simulate a moving wild pig team from the cave, the most worrisome point is the hole before the intersection.

There is a confirmed tweet by engineer Elon Musk stating he is sending his Boring Company engineers to talk with rescue officials on Saturday. His "hole digging" engineers wouldn't have an appointment to speak with rescue officials on Saturday if the boys were going to be dived out on Friday.

IMHO it's about making back-up plans in case the dive attempt doesn't work out, or if they need to leave the weakest boys in the cave.

They're not in a static situation where you can make a plan of action, plus a back-up, and stick to it. Everything is in flux...the rainfall, the water depth in the cave, the oxygen levels in the cave, the amount of water that can be pumped out each day, the number of on-site experts for each specialty.

So the preferred option is going to change as the conditions change and they look out to expected conditions in the next 6/12/24/48+ hours.

I think they're probably doing a lot better than the mixed up media reports make it sound. They're keeping all options open, and the only options they do have available are bad options, but what I think they're doing is trying to work on all three options (stay, dive, drill) to find the least-bad option. They're taking supplies into the boys in case they have to stay. They're draining the water in preparation for diving. They've got people all over the mountains damming streams and piping water off the mountain, spelunkers and bird nest hunters looking for new passages into the caves. Inside the caves they're trying to build up the strength of the boys, teach them to breathe in oxygen masks, how to get in and under the water comfortably and safely. They're developing trust between the boys and the divers, which is going to be essential.

Another problem is that when its assessed that a new piece of equipment could be useful and is offered to them it has to be sent to an airport, board the next plane to Thailand, get to Thailand, then get transported to Chiang Rai, then put in its correct place at the site, whether that's at the base or the top of the mountain.

I'm also doubting that they will make an announcement when it does actually start (a diving rescue). On one hand it might be preferable to just see a boy come out of the entrance? On the other hand they might say that there's a strong possibility of an attempt in the next 24 hours and get the extra prayers and good thoughts coming in from Thailand and around the world.

Wild pig team is apparently a translation of the team name "The Wild Boars".

Thailand is reportedly one of the worst countries where journalists
are not allowed to have free rein on the news. News is very controlled here. I got worried earlier this week when they suddenly moved journalist way back and away from the activities
and it seemed to become almost a 'news blackout'.
On the Guardian site, which has a reporter on site waiting for the
press conference that's 3 hours late, the reporter mentions
the controlled news environment.
I don't know who or what to believe here anymore.

I dont know anything about how they operate but I did see a lot of that in the MH370 Malaysia airplane disappearance. It was like pulling teeth to get honest reporting. It sure made me appreciate the free press we have in the US.

It is very sad when the politics of any nation gets in the way of accomplishing an important goal. I sure hope they are not impeding decision making but I do have that fear.

THAILAND: There is no announcement about the beginning of the extraction of the #13survivors from the #ThamLuang cave. They got letters from thier parents, pipe with oxygen reached the chamber with the trapped kids. Air quality is ok. All the scenarios on the table

Then they need to get on this. Maybe they already have. Seems we will be the last to know. Last weather report I saw yesterday monsoon weather Sunday

HAPPENING NOW: Head of #ThamLuang rescue operation Narongsak says more than 100 air holes have been found above cave complex. 18 of them are likely to be further explored. One stretches down 400m. Still drilling can be time-consuming http://cna.asia/2u8iMKF

The football team that the boys belong to is called Wild Boars. Wild pig team isn't far off as translation goes.

ugh...soooo confusing. One report says ' search for air holes was unsuccessful, we are diving out the boys...' and the next report says they found 100 air holes and are actively investigating .... so hard to figure out what's what...sigh....

governor: “we need to make the plan that is the best plan.”

How about some action in removing the boys. Plans have been in place now for days.

Sorry I am getting jaded and need a break. From now on I am taking every report with a grain of salt and wont believe anything until I hear a boy is out of that cave.

Continued prayers for everyone involved.

THE NEWS from the conference: “We will start taking kids out from the #ThamLuang cave in case of HEAVY RAIN

- but not today and tomorrow because they don’t have enough diving training” says governor Narongsak Osotthanakorn

K-officially a cray cray person here. I broke out my 0.5mg. Clonazepam. My anxiety if off the charts. More anxious if I am not here. I would share but I only ask/get 30 tabs a year.
