I’m wondering now though if there could be some major cloud seeding before the storms get to that part of the island? If it was done in Beijing for the Olympics then the technology is available in that part of the world.

Thailand cave rescue: no attempt to get boys out tonight, says governor - live

42 min. ago
He [governor] says the British diver, who came out of the cave at 9pm (local time), reported that the boys were fine.

The governor adds that he speaks to the families every day and asks if they want him to bring out the children right now. He says he wants the minimum risk before attempting the rescue.

If it rains, he says, the authorities “will try” to bring them out

The governor, Narongsak Osottanakorn, is asked if he will try to rescue the boys today should the rain begin to fall. No, he says

(I feel like I know all of you guys in here...well, I kind of do  ...this is one of the most caring, positive and loving peaceful group of members threads I've been in, bravo, spelly, zen, hatz, all you guys too many to name. I really am feeling the love here as my heart and gut is wrenching.. still balling sick and can't read, chest pain, throat, shortness of breath, I'm either having a panic attack or a heart attack. Going to try this new CBD powder I just got to dispose(omg websleuthian slip? I meant "to dissolve" in water, I obviously reaaaly need to take a break (after this, of course).. it's a new product on the market. It has very little THC, let's see what happens,, could save me a trip to the ER..)

(Eta: alright triple absorbtion technology...fast acting, no sugars...hmm and "rosemary extract"...)

*****

(Alright. If anything the placebo effect has done it's trick.)

Pulling it together, GET THOSE BOYS OUT! Prayers to the rescuers and everyone!!!

I thought of this yesterday but it might be too scientificcaly advanced to even suggest for this area. I think the new gov. and interior
minister rode in on their burros.

I know, margarita. It is too hard to walk away, but each report has lurched my stomach. Envisioning what may come is too hard to even think about. Will they, won't they? Time is running out with every hour.....

You be careful and back away for a breather once in a while.

if u are still having chest pain Margarita call 911. Please.

Me three.
I'm sorry to be the gloom dispenser, but the latest post said they estimate the boys could make it out in "less than six hours". I think it would be *very* challenging for kids who are frightened and weak to make it an hour, let alone six.

Drill, we must drill! Elon - where are you? Hurry!

O/T I know some of you have followed the Humbolt bus crash. They have announced an arrest has been made and there will be a press conference at 3pm est I believe. If anyone needs some “good” news and to catch your breath. I’m to nervous on this thread. My heart hurts. :(

I just tweeted Elon Musk about it. We’ll se what he says, he seems to be pretty responsive on Twitter.

Latest as Thai cave rescuer dies delivering supplies to boys

Live Updates 22 min ago
'Diving skills are not adequate'

During a press conference earlier today, it was revealed that the boys' diving skills are not adequate enough to evacuate them.

The official in immediate charge of the operation, Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn, indicated strongly at a midnight news conference that if heavy rains started and appeared to be causing flooded areas in the cave to rise again, they would try to take the boys out with divers right away.

I too have a knot in my stomach and catch myself literally holding my breath. In the wee hours of the morning as I was falling asleep a thought kept going through my mind and still presents itself today. If you've ever been at the hospital with a loved one where the outcome is not certain the days of waiting begin to feel like a roller coaster. You get a good report, an encouraging word and you feel elated and think okay, we've got this. The next report can be negative and you know you have to be realistic no matter how painful those thoughts can be and you must brace yourself for a bad outcome. In hindsight after days of waiting it's clear how very up and way down you've been from hour to hour. History has shown some of the situations resolve when not a single person thought they would, others have ended with deep grief. That's how this feels to me.
We're all (hundreds of thousands all over the world) simply here because we have such heartfelt hopes for these precious boys, their precious coach and each and every single person working to save them. I'm so grateful to every worker and volunteer down to the men and women that keep the trash taken out to the people offering massages, haircuts, food, prayers, comfort. Wishing wisdom to those that are making such difficult decisions and must feel as if the weight of the world hangs on their shoulders. Such gratitude for those dear people.
Thank you for being there with me.

A major problem here is that Thai officials do not want to spend any money here- they want everything donated and all volunteer
workers, divers, etc. are on their own dime.
when they advertised for cave divers on FB they clarified the expenses are on you- maybe kind locals will feed you but otherwise
we want you to fly to our country, bring your own equipment and
you worry about where you sleep and eat. No compensation.
So I'm not sure who would pay for cloud seeding, airplane, pilot,
chemicals, etc.

(I am very interested later to talk about this. Marking spot...have to keep reading...as soon as I can breathe and my chest pain goes away...I'm alright...this is just unbelievable all of this, I can't take it...going to rest for a minute.)

Eta

I'm okay (not really). sorry for the :drama: carry on please don't mind me. I'll go to the er if I have to, I promise so don't worry about me...love you guys...balling...I can hear Tricia's voice about to step in and say Magz step away from the computer please before you have a heart attack.)

*****

Do their parents know I wonder which ones are the "strong ones" who will be the ones to come oUT first, do the parents of the others who are weaker, do you they know thats their child...this choosing the order is killing me...these parents...as some of you mentioned I would have to be sedated...AL though sometimes that adrenaline can kick in...I've experienced it before.

I don't think they'll be able to inform the parents of which boys are most likely to come out first as everything can change in an instant.

Please take care of yourself, Mags x And hugs to everyone suffering with anxiety over this xx

What I was thinking earlier as my panic started to rise was that *we* need to be sending calm and positive vibes out across the world...and that helped me to calm down a bit.

The boys are still alive. The water levels are lower and they've got bigger and better pumps arriving every day and they'll be learning on the go as to where everything will be best-positioned for effectiveness. Hopefully these extra pumps can cope with the rainfall over the weekend and get the boys out with the minimum of places of full immersion under water.

The divers/medics who are in the chamber with the boys are going to be so calm with them, so full of positive-thinking. They're cracking jokes with them to try to help them relax. They're doing everything they can to get these boys physically and mentally ready for whatever extraction method ends up being chosen.

On the other hand (the worry hand) I am wondering if the Thai Navy Seals are the best placed to do the extractions? I know that's what they wanted to do for the language reasons, but it might be easier to teach the boys 20 important English words and put one of the English-speaking expert cavers with each extraction team? But they'll be the best ones to make decisions on who feels fittest and strongest for the effort and if they feel they (the divers) can keep calm through any emergency, which they should all be able to do, but the Navy divers might be more power and adrenalin, whereas I read that for caving you need more calm and less adrenalin. But all the divers will be getting to know each other and building strong teams within larger teams, and they'll get a sense of who's going to be better-suited for which part of the extraction operation.

and if not?? they're just leaving them in the cave?? ^^^^^^
That's not being decisive, that's sticking your head in the sand. They need to get out before the rain! arghhhhhh

There are some major translation issues here or some big time incompetency. I feel like the news changes every hour. And what a stupid comment from the governor (was it the gov?) saying he asks the parents each day if they want them to bring the kids out?? Like seriously?? I'm pretty sure the parents don't feel up to judging the situation and are expecting competency from someone in charge. I think that might be exactly what's lacking here.

I'd be really pissed if someone in charge of the pumping of water and dealing with divers was daily asking me, "Sooo what do YOU want us to do?" I don't want to go to the ER and have them ask me what I want them to do!

OMG there has got to be someone who is not an idiot who can make the call here instead of waffling back and forth every day until more and more people die! It's like he's just trying to quick the proverbial can down the road as long as he can instead of save those boys.

(Still haven't read anymore yet, feeling better, but was just thinking how much I miss Foxfire right now. He was a Military Vet, former Fire Captain, SAR volunteer..I was thinking about 9/11 last night and what heros not just our fallen diver yesterday was, but all those firefighters who died going into those buildings...like I said before I guess some wounds never heal...point is, again, another place Foxfire is sorely missed. Maybe we can collectively summon his spirit to help guide those boys out)
(OK balling even worse now. )

Foxfire, please help guide those boys out. And their rescuers.
Sobbing...)

(ETA: Foxfire says: "Going in, M25")

(Eta: Hmmm, I wonder if Foxfire ever did any diving, it wouldnt surprise me, I bet he has...)

I just remembered there are thai national airline planes- maybe gov. owned.
Do any thai officials have a twitter account? How about the King?

I'm getting flakey, sorry.
