Since they've had long-term exposure to guano, they may have histoplasmosis, a fungal infection, which causes flu-like respiratory symptoms. Most healthy people don't know they've contracted this infection. Immunocompromised people (the kids are malnourished and emotionally stressed) will have symptoms and may be unable to fight off the fungal infection without treatment.
They did give antibiotics when they found them. Hopefully they were as broad spectrum as possible.
It's kind of funny because I'd be very concerned about giving my child an antibiotic, pain medication or anti nausea medication they'd never had.
However I would not hesitate to sedate them. I guess that just comes from our family history and medical issues. History of allergies to all of those, not sedation meds.
Yes, And considering that this govenor has already been booted
from managing the operation, we don't know what the new govenor
will decide.
What? Why? I don't understand why you would switch leaders at this critical stage! I hope it doesn't cause further delays.

asked whether he still feels positively about the sotuation, the chiang rai governor said:
“the world is perfect.”
governor: “if it rains, and the situation is not good, we will try to bring the boys out.”
asked if he would leave the boys inside for four months, he laughed.
Please tell me I'm not the only one like this

right now?!
The world is perfect?!
HE LAUGHED?!
I AM NOT IMPRESSED with the new guy!
There is a confirmed tweet by engineer Elon Musk stating he is sending his Boring Company engineers to talk with rescue officials on Saturday. His "hole digging" engineers wouldn't have an appointment to speak with rescue officials on Saturday if the boys were going to be dived out on Friday.
I would still have the appt since not all the boys can dive out. Also if diving them out were to fail, you'd want a back up plan. They seem to want back up plans, just can't seem to pick one!
Could they have announced the pc only to get all the journalists out of the way while something else going on elsewhere remains unseen and unreported? Photo on Guardian Live shows dozens of reporters all together, waiting for the pc to begin.
I know, I'm getting anxious and paranoid.
Thailand cave rescue: Thai government announcement expected at press conference - live
Very possible though I'm thinking they would probably just kick them out. Probably wouldn't feel the need to be sneaky about it.
There is definitely cloud seeding technology but I’d think with the sheer amount of rainfall during their monsoon season would prevent it from working.
WOW! I had never heard of this before. That's crazy! I wonder if it could be somewhat effective even if it doesn't prevent rain? Like reducing it? I mean anything helps!
A friend is telling me that this would actually be MOST EFFECTIVE at this time. Why in the world aren't they doing it?!
(Wow, "birds' nest collectors"? Wasn't expecting that one...)
Yes.
Edible birds nests was the part that got me. I'm not sure who to be concerned for... the humans or the birds.
The football team that the boys belong to is called Wild Boars. Wild pig team isn't far off as translation goes.
Though since they did sacrifice a pig as well, I can understand the confusion!
Well that was a worthless waste of time- the BS ing has started.
the boys can dive already
the boys are unable to dive yet
the boys are just fine
I'm calling to parents everyday to ask if they want us to take boys out- no responsibility on official shoulders here.
they went in front of cave, they'll come out front of cave.
We want to minimize risks
Not today or tomorrow
What? Has the king threatened to behead the govenor if this fails?
I would hope that the king would provide some resources first! But probably not gonna happen.
So Agree- what the gov. really said-
Look World, we're not a bunch of ignorant backwoods yokels.
We know what we're doing. No flub-ups here.
We're contemplating a precise feat here, don't question us.
It'll happen when we say it happens.
Good Day World.
Yes. Scary! I would not be handling it well if my kid was in there.
If you google the cave name it appears it is already a small tourist
attraction during dry season. Maybe they want to turn it into
a mega attraction.
Wait, so this cave is used by TOURISTS and they don't have a detailed map of it?!
Jumping off this, can they give them B12 shots?
They probably could but that wouldn't sedate them. I'm trying to think if there is a benefit to them down there.
