The rains..............can it flood them overnight where they are now, supposedly in chamber 3?

I've been wondering that, I sure hope not.

As far as I heard and read in different news reports, it’s not like the team were that far into the cave voluntarily. Seems like they were running from a powerful flash flood and somehow they ended when they were found, so, yeah

Did you look at the cave map? If they were close to the entrance, and run from the flood, I fail to see how they could have ended up so far away, considering there are higher elevation areas much closer to the entrance.

No, I think it's a combination of oxygen resupply and the need for divers and kids to rest. When people are exhausted, accidents happen. Better to be safe and give everyone a rest.
Yeah... I actually wrote essemtially the same thing in my own post a few pages back!
Must be done Properly and Safely. Bless those divers. ❤️

The rescue chief says they will need 10-20 hrs to prepare for another round of extractions. Says the healthiest boys were taken out first, each with two expert divers guiding them. #thamluang #Thailand

Differing reports about whether the weakest or strongest came out first.....wonder why the confusion?

I read the Australian doctor checked them over on Saturday our time and decided to take the weakest first.

Yet, they are leaving the coach for last and he must be very weak as he gave his food to the kids. He's gone for 2 weeks with no food and I read he cannot move!!!

First they said the weakest ones, now the healthiest ones... getting tired of the inconsistencies... who do we believe??

Also, rain, rain, go away!!

It is pouring now over there - you can hear it in the background while the media are doing their standups.

Hardest I have heard since I woke up and heard that this operation

I had to put myself on a news time out (without mods !!) yesterday -- more and more it gets too overwhelming -- everything is going down the toilet, with such a ferocious flush it is deafening - and mentally news time outs are a survival skill set needed more and more!!

Were gonna be like Ferguson in a couple in a months in several cities so we have to take of self in preparation of impending days

it has been so delightful to have something warm and redeeming about humans this morning!

Sadly this week is going to be rough so lets enjoy this wonderful amazing feat of love caring compassion and blending and coming together .

Very needed injection of sanity!
I just wish there was another team heading in now

apparently the pumping out of the water was huge influence on today's timeline and there is no other conclusion that the downpour during the last from the scene stand ups is more than bothersome

Yeah way in the beginning it was reported it was sort of an initiation ceremony - were youths would run to the back of the cave, write their names on the wall, and run back. It was said that's what the team was attempting to do. But who knows for sure, reporting on this has done a 180 more than once. Sigh.

Ah, but the kids didnt have a map, did they?? They just went where they saw higher ground.

It also says that gear and masks etc will be checked. I guess the whole route will also be rechecked.

The four boys were on stretchers when they emerged from the cave. They’re now in hospital, some via chopper, some via road ambulance. Rescue mission to resume after masks/gear checked over and tanks replenished #tennews #thamluangcave #thaicaverescue

It takes six hours to get to where they ended up. They had to have intended to go deep into the cave looking at the map to end up where they did.

The children aren't subject to the bends, but the divers are. They have made many, many trips back and forth. They are physically tired, probably underfed. They need rest time at the surface to expel nitrogen from the body. Dive physics can't be bent, only broken, with disastrous results. The poorer the diver's condition, the greater the danger of decompression sickness.

I have to confess, I am irritated at calls for the Coach to be prosecuted. This is Thailand ~ what is protocol in the US has nothing to do with it. It is comparing apples and giraffes. These are free-range kids, much as I was in the 50's.

If the Coach is prosecuted, what will happen the children's psyche?

So even that info is contradictory. Some claim healthiest, some claim weakest. And the rain started again.

Also contradictory: code red for one boy vs all are healthy at presser. Nightmare reporting. I hope that boy is alright! Please no more deaths!

So you are suggesting they went in without having a clue as to where they were going? Nobody even had a map? That's a good trip into a dangerous cave.

From an article posted earlier by Shiresleuth iirc the boys had been in the cave before.

I have no idea what rules in Thailand are regarding this. I have never stated otherwise. Which is why I said that here in the US this wouldn't have gone over well, if somebody took kids on a dangerous trip and parents had no clue.

I didn't mean to imply you said something you didn't. I was just surprised and wanted to point out that not all countries do permission slips like the US. I've found not many people know that. I'd like to know how Thailand does those things - knowing that would make it much easier to make up my mind about my feelings about the coach. Right now I have nothing but compassion for him for starters.

Maybe they meant to go to the back, realized the water was coming up, and the fork threw them off and they were going the wrong way? I don't know. Just throwing out guesses.

*** sigh*** I keep hearing the strongest out first, then the weakest out first... now the strongest again. Great, so now the weakest will be going out with even higher water to contend with... even more to worry about.
The poor parents. Bless them!

It's only 4 kilometers from the entrance to where they were found. I'm not sure your 6 hours is correct.

Sounds like a very good idea. Aside from the physical exertion and stress, the logistics of this operation are rather complex and burdensome. Lots of equipment, tanks, etc that have to be placed strategically to ensure everything is in the right place, in the right amount as needed. It's like a complicated relay race. Also keep in mind all the activity in the rescue may still be depleting oxygen in the cave air. Exertion by the kids may require them to use more oxygen than before.

I feel exhausted just thinking about it.
