Lots of tears in the video of the first contact. OMG, they are so skinny.

I am relieved that all 13 were found alive. I was a fairly serious athlete during my childhood and adolescent years. You do not see coach's who bond like this with their kids very often. These rescuers have shown us an example, allbeit an extreme one, of what dedicated, cohesive teamwork can be capable of.

There's also a video out now from the moment they were found. My browser doesn't play it. If anyone can bring it over here or finds it elsewhere that would be great.

Video clip: ~*ภรรยาท่านลอร์ด*~ on Twitter

I can view it and IMO it proves that "first pic" released showing them smiling is old. In the video the boys are sitting on a raised rock area while the rescuers call to them and shine a light towards them from a little distance away. The boys are all still wearing their football jerseys, not bare chested as in that photo.

The rescuers ask how many of them are there and the boys reply 13. There were only 2 of them that reached the boys first but they tell the boys there are many, many people coming to rescue them. They are the first. The boys ask what day it is and they tell them it is Monday and that they have been there 10 days. They tell the boys "you are very strong".

Even after the two divers reached them the kids still feared they would die. At least that's what I understood.

I'm so dang happy -- but can't stop crying!

That video really made me cry. Such joy that they have been found alive! Still praying for a safe rescue with no loss of life or injuries. I fear there is a long journey ahead to get them out.

Yes, it sounded like there was some discussion between the 2 divers if they should go back to bring more help in or go closer to see the boys first. As the video ends the two are saying "we come, we come" and the boys move back so the rescuers can go up on to the dry rocky area. I hope the divers have some food or other comforts with them. I could tell the poor boys are so scared and didn't want the divers to leave them.

The divers who reached them were from the UK (at least one of them identified himself as being from England).

Footage has been released of an emaciated and bedraggled Thai youth football team crammed onto a wedge of dry ground surrounded by water deep inside a cave that has held them captive for nine days.

The group, mostly seated and with baggy football shirts pulled over their knees, asked for food and to leave the cave immediately, according to the video shared on the official Facebook page of the Thai Navy SEALS.

In the video a diver, speaking with a British accent, urges the group to stay calm and says "many, many people are coming... we are the first".

Wow - me too! Thailand and Thai people are lovely - very spiritual. As a Brit, I think the British accent was a little difficult for them to understand for their individual, English translation. Well done rescuers, well done!

Live: Thai cave rescue - CNN
The Thai NAVY Seal released a video that appears to be the very first moment when the trapped boys were discovered.

One of the rescuers tells the boys in English with a British accent: “You are very strong.”

Here's their conversation:

  • Rescuer: How many of you?
  • Boys: 15 (inaudible)
  • Rescuer: 15, Brilliant! We are coming, many people are coming. Many people, we are the first.
  • Boys: Asking what day it is.
  • Rescuer: Monday, you have been here 10 days, 10 days. You are very strong, very strong. We come, ok, we come.

The video is now also on the Navy Seal facebook page:

Just incredible footage

Some thoughts
They look in much better shape than I actually thought they would be so that is great news. The rescuers need to get them food and fresh water and hopefully they will have enough energy to assist in their exit.

I am not sure if the rescuers will be willing to let them use scuba gear because if someone panics while under water then it can turn tragic very quickly so the rescuers may be looking for alternatives like draining the water dry enough to walk out or maybe even drill down from top to get to them.

Its still very precarious because the water level looks scary and if weather changes then the pumps may not be able to keep up with rising water so rescuers will probably be hurrying as fast as they can with a plan.

So happy to see the kids able to walk and talk. Its amazing. Wow. Just Wow.

I have read people deprived of light for days sometimes start to hallucinate. After so many days trapped in darkness, they might have thought they were dreaming when two men appeared and one is speaking English. I hope they all stay strong and realize help is on the way. They are so close to being rescued.

Earlier it was said that there is a Navy Seal Doctor on hand who will go to them and make sure they are all strong before they are moved out. It was said it could take months to get them out depending on their condition when found. That said, they all look to be in good shape for what they have endured. I hope they can be safely brought out in the next few days or a week and not months from now.

Another thought.
I can see why there was talk from the base camp about bringing in a couple doctors to the boys location as one of the things they may possibly do. I think they probably want to run an IV on any of the real weakest ones to give them fluids and nutrients through an IV because eating regular food may be difficult to hold down and takes so long to digest to get their energy back that they may be thinking of using IVs to help speed their energy recovery to allow them to help themselves in their own rescue quicker.
