Same here.

I have found that picking the closest largest city gives me a better realistic forecast than using my own small city.

There are two amateur weather stations in my town. But both of them are at zero elevation. I'm not far away from them, but I'm at a higher elevation. The weather stations can show current overcast conditions. But I'm in complete sunny conditions and 5 degrees warmer. That's if the weather stations are even reporting accurate information. Sometimes they are just ridiculously wrong. For good weather forecasts I try to force the weather sites to show me the weather for the nearest airport. But that is far enough away that it really doesn't represent my weather at all. About the only thing it's good for is finding out if a major storm is going to hit the area. I took good weather forecasts for granted when I lived in the city.

I would like to know what causes anyone to think they will get STRONGER by sitting in the cave. I simply don't see that happening.

They need to get one of the O2 stretchers or something. If they don't get them out soon they won't come out alive.

Hmm I hadn't heard it was a place that kids know not to go in. Not that I lay any blame on the kids. They were with an adult. But I'd really unhappy, major understatement, if an adult encouraged my child to do something that was considered dangerous or foolish.

But whatever. I agree it's pointless now. I just hope the coach and the boys all make it out safely and alive. And I agree the biggest punishment to the coach is going to be living with this the rest of his life. I sure don't envy him. I wonder how much his weakness is psychological since they are providing food? Guilt and shame can really damage someone physically.

I agree. They don't have much room to move about for exercise, the air quality may not stay, lack of sunlight, poor hygiene conditions .... I would think their health would likely just get worse if they stayed for weeks/months.

I am starting to get snxious reading what is/is-not coming ... please, we got them this far, get them out safely.

The problem is that the configuration is less than ideal with the tight fit passage nearer the entrance than the Seal base in chamber 3. I think ideally they'd want a few spare divers holding out in chamber three and then they could set off to the boys as a boy coming in the other direction passes them safely. But they're going to need comms to know if the boy going out, and his attendant divers, have passed the narrow passage safely in order to know if it's clear to bring the next one out.

But once they get through that narrow passage at the entrance-side of chamber 3 it looks a lot easier going.

I think even the walking/wading parts are going to be tough on these boys after 9 or ten days of being without enough food and water or having enough space to exercise.

Also traveling with two attendant divers and a boy might take longer to travel out than it would be for one seal diver. And maybe each boy could get a half-hour rest in chamber 3 to take in some liquid nourishment? Maybe also check the heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels at that time, too. They'll need to be calm to go through that narrow passage. And that could be a good time to do a diver change for the attendant divers as well, if they need to do that.

One of the British caving experts who helped discover the 13 missing in a Chiang Rai cave quietly left Thailand Wednesday night with the tourism minister personally thanking him at the airport.

Robert Charles Harper of the British Cave Rescue Council was accompanied to Suvarnabhumi Airport by Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat. A dinner of tom yum goong was given to Harper before he boarded a Thai Airways flight to London’s Heathrow Airport and the authorities paid a for a new pair of shoes purchased by Harper to replaced the torn one.

Harper oversaw the three-man team that Monday night discovered the 13 trapped inside a chamber several kilometers inside the Luang cave, where they had been trapped 10 days.

I have read that generally monsoon season is between June and October, but the sign in front of the cave says not to enter between July- October. Sounds like they wanted to take advantage and do this local initiation before July hit. Obviously the last week of June didn’t work out the way they’d planned.

Even if they don’t get it, they’re running out of time and choices. I worry that even though it says the three in the cave are weak from exhaustion and malnutrition, they may have contracted something that the rest of them can get. Something probably needs to happen today. It’s supposed to rain there tonight.
