Yes switching handbags maybe. Seems odd it was just left on the bed though. It might indicate she went out that night but we know that's unlikely. She didn't have any known plans and didn't mention it to her parents when she spoke to them.
Not sure that she would mention going out to her parents. Particularly as they would lecture her on being tired Etc.

A tiny nugget of information I wasn't aware of from an article published 6 days after her disappearance:

She then alerted Miss Lawrence's father who used his key to get into the house early on Friday afternoon. 'It looked as if she had left for work,' she said. 'Her handbag was on the bed and everything was tidy.' Suzy Cooper

Father of missing chef Claudia retraces daughter's walk to work in desperate plea for information | Daily Mail Online

Thoughts anyone?

If Claudia had let someone in who she didn't know very well, she may have put the bag in her bedroom to keep it out of the way? Or if she had been out all night, she may have rushed in, threw her bag down on the bed, while she was gathering what she needed for the day?

@MajorLang
My most likely
Returned home with it and quick turnaround to work so bag on bed as she changed

Yes that's my thought too. Suppose we'll never know.

But....are you suggesting that she had been out on the night of the 18th, came home at dawn on 19th (braking Ford Focus?), shot inside for a quick change of outfit then was driven to work in the FF?

It's possible, but I think unlikely

If she went out @Yozzer then she may have returned to find that either someone was waiting outside or inside for her and then it was curtains. perhaps explains why we have the people lurking in the shadows. Either waiting for her to come out to go to work or for her to return home.

@x_caz_x What is unlikely
The out all night (remember that the story of her being out all night the previous evening could well have been fabricated)
Or
That she was driven to work in the FF.

I think it was unlikely she went out that night of her own accord. My theories are that she was either lured out (e.g. someone saying they needed help etc) or she was taken from home..
There is another thought though.... Perhaps she was looking for something in the bag, maybe being rushed?

Yes
If she was going out anywhere other then the Nags a few doors down she would most likely be either meeting up with someone or going with someone. She liked the familiarity and safety afforded by the Nags Head.

Except that, it seems just before her disappearance, that the pub no longer had that security for her

I can’t understand why people here tend to dismiss the sighting of the arguing couple with a red car passenger door open.Couple arguing at the other side of the road.
Claudia could have been in that car and that is why she was not caught on cctv as previous day.
She would have stormed out of the car and crossed the road. Leaving passenger door open on purpose to frustrate a possible chase.
The driver set off after her .
The timing is right and the description fits Claudia.
She was enticed or otherwise back in the car.
The driver could easily be the mystery boyfriend hanging around her house.

The sighting was reported anonymously by someone.
They were asked to come forward to police but failed.
If I was one of perps and I wanted to deflect from me then I could report this sighting

that's why many dismiss it including me and so I am very cautious of wishing to discuss this further as I see it as diversionary from finding out what really happened.

I believe the police asked for the couple to come forward .
Is it possible to post ref as to when the police asked for the informer to come forward again ?
