David told the police what Claudia had said to him one year after she disappeared.And before they announced it they had already established that this person was not the casual boyfriend !
Dan had told them very early on that she mentioned a new boyfriend four months before she was gone

I find it very odd that DO waited a full year after CL was abducted to mention she had told him of this bf! Covering his own tracks perhaps?.... Was he the one seen argueing with her outside the uni on the morning she disappeared? He would have been arriving at work at the same time. Stopped to ask CL why she had not accepted his offer of a lift and this led to an argument that got out of hand with CL threatening to report him to the HR team re pestering or inappropriate behaviour. Body of CL bundled into boot and disposed of later that evening. Only speculation btw!!

Did David mention the mystery boyfriend to his colleagues before he told the police ?
Claudia must have been discussed in every corner of the university and in as much detail as possible even though the police must have asked witnesses not to discuss !

If I remember correctly the mobile phone company confirmed that the phone had been manually switched off at approx 12.30( the phone company can actually tell if a manual switch off was done on a device) Bouncing off the nearest mble tower her mobile range was approx 9 miles and as her mobile stayed with in this range it shows the phone when switched on didnt leave the range of this area.
Her home did appear to be within that 9 mile range

She was last seen on heworth road returning home from an errand on the afternoon of the 18th.
She spoke with her mother and father via moble phone on the same evening also engaging with her friend Jo by text I believe all communications had ceased at approx 8.25pm an incoming text from her male friend in Cyprus was never read.
Its true she did not turn up for her work shift at 6.am on the 19th and because it was suggested there was unwashed breakfast crockery in the sink which could be a suggestion that she got up as normal and left for work taking her rucksack in which she carried her chef whites her mobile phone and a set of hair tongs.
It has since been queried as some people eat breakfast type foods of an evening.
CL was a prolific mobile phone user and due to non use from the her last call/text at around 8.25pm on the 18th speculation has grown to wether she may have gone missing on this evening.

Very odd indeed!! Considering that you need to be missing 24 hours before the plods will normally do owt...

I believe too that her school friend police woman happened to be on duty at the time .

I'll credit Langy once again because im sure the explanation was from his old blog. He seemed to have a good suggestion about the quick Police response. It was due to Claudia already being on the Police radar . Wasn't there a report of her being bundled into a car shortly before Claudia went missing. Furthermore; Claudia may of knowingly or unknowingly been caught up with an individual or individuals involved in crime

Perhaps it was DO that went round to Claudia's on the evening of the 18th to see if she wanted a lift. Maybe he couldn't get a response on the front door; so he went round the back to see if he could see any lights on.

Similarly; it was possible he did exactly the same thing the next morning on the 19th

I'm sure I've read that her friend Anthony said when Claudia had a bit too much drink that she said things she regrets. Maybe Claudia did say something;thus staying out the Nags for a few days

I know it's a statistic for the USA and the % is probably slightly different in the UK. But in 2011 the FBI said that 79% of murders are committed by a person the victim knew
