I was trying to put in boxes the different lives of Claudia.
1. The one that her Mum, Dad and Sister are aware of.
2. The Nags Head Claudia-Suzy, Jen and the Small old man builder types
3. The Secret Claudia-The one that takes herself off to a different area to meet people away from the prying eyes of the Nags.
4. The "At Work" Claudia
It was when I was putting things in boxes that I realised that we do not hear anything from the work side of her life.
Was she popular?
Did she have work friends that she socialised with? Apart from Snelling
Why did we never hear from her boss?
You always do in all other cases......
Like "Claudia was a lovely hard working girl" Etc. Etc....
Even if your a nightmare to work with they always say nice things about you when you die
I agree with the above. I wonder if the university ordered the staff not to talk to the press. It's not the greatest advert for a university and at the end of the day, they are a corporate organisation dependant on attracting large numbers based on their reputation and York's wholesome image as a 'safe' place to live. One of my offspring started at York Uni in Sept 08 so was caught up in the whole drama of room searches and Claudia's poster being everywhere in York. I must say it did worry me as a parent, knowing there was a potential murderer on the loose.

For me the combination of Claudia's last day at the Nag's being a race day and knowing how raucous they could become, the fact that there were four days between her last visit and last planned one on the Sunday and Thursday, suggests to me that something out of the ordinary happened. Was she feeling intimidated by someone, had there been a falling out, or was it just that spending time with her alleged new romantic interest--away from the pub for whatever reason/s, could one be the person's ethnicity?--meant she was mostly AWOL to her Nag's friends those last few days of Claudia's life?
Suzy, Jen and Claudia bought pretty much all their rounds together and drank at a similar pace. The drinks were bought for George and me!
While there was a naive side to Claudia she seemed pretty switched on about some people too. The more unpleasant a person seemed the more guarded she became. I believe she would have had an instinctive sense that something was going to happen if she was lured somewhere, and wonder if the fact that her phone wasn't manually switched off until 12.10 that day was her doing rather than a deliberately timed act by the perpetrators. If the former, did she hide her phone in a house or garden somewhere in the knowledge that if people looking for her found it first they'd be closer to knowing what happened to her, did she launch the phone from a car window enroute somewhere and it was deemed too obvious a pointer to the perps so they drove back to search for it??

She may have died after a fall and someone buried her in a state of panic.

Thanks @moonsafari I was going to ask you how often she frequented the Nags and you have explained that she was normally more regular than this.
Good explanation of what may have happened to the phone, this has always puzzled me and as you say she may have switched it off if being held somewhere and suspecting that this was the end or if she hid or dropped it then that may have been them locating it.
They must have been concerned that it was in a findable place if they mounted a hunt as the phone would have powered down within the next day or two anyway.

2 men seen at Claudias front door.
One older has a sandy Mac and one is a younger Asian gentleman.
Whilst the later visitor the week of her visit was not described with ethnicity differing to her usual friends.

Man with Hip length Tan coloured thin Mac type jacket with a hood seen on phone, he had a small dark rucksack with very little in it and approaching her house.

Very neat Dark Brownish Hair
Hair cut stylishly with a fringe
He was dressed smartly but casually and wore Dark Jeans / Chinos / Trousers
He wore Dark footwear
CL comes to door, she is also on phone and is surprised to see him and lets him in. Before doing so she looks up and down the road??
The second call at her door appears to have been someone that she didn't want her "friends" to see or someone that she normally met at a distance from the Nags?

Please explain who "We all" are. Im pretty sure that you are not speaking for the Websleuth community here?
I wish she was alive for her families sake but had she planned this then I'm sure she would have signaled to her parents or someone she was ok?

I do wonder about that last text sent to Jen too, about the twelve shifts in a row Claudia was last minute drafted in to work. Which was sent Wednesday evening. I think this is too soon to have her phone taken over outright by the perps and was sent before the phonecalls w her parents (?) unless they text and deleted from her outbox before she noticed, only surely they'd reasonably expect a reply that would puzzle her, increasing the likelihood that if this is what happened Jen or someone with access to her phone either text themselves from Claudia's or if elsewhere was clued up to respond immediately for the other person to then delete, perhaps knowing investigators wouldn't be able to tell provided they don't find the phone (accurate??)
My gut instinct is that if term began March 20th the previous week or two had probs been relatively chilled at work, another possible reason why she was out and about more in the evening times. Could the smaller numbers mean aspects of her job changed temporarily, that she worked in different buildings, which might explain the mixed reporting, meaning perhaps she met someone that way? What about new staff at work?
A bit more out there ofc but aside from building, what other work/tests were being carried out around the uni grounds in Heslington during student holidays? York Uni's Physics and Engineering depts are renowned for their research and innovation, with ties to new arms and military tech development. Who knows a lovers tiff or something more serious that led to silence could have brought her in the path of a ray gun test of some description. Never underestimate the determination of nerds to not face justice!!

Police have never confirmed whether the Ford Focus belonging to MS and removed from his mother's property in N. Shields for testing WAS the same car sighted on cctv slowing outside CLs home. Presumably it would have come out during MS's interview whether it was him on his way to work? It is so important for this to be eliminated. I can only assume either a) it was MS and he is potentially a material witness - something NYP would not share publicly or b) MS did not take this route to work that day and it is not him.
