Corrie had joined up 3 years ago so he's had money going into his account all that time, so where's it all gone that this 'getting paid in a week's time' has been given so much emphasis by N? She almost makes it sound like it's his first pay packet.
OK, he's got nice threads, maybe paying his mum towards the phone and car, maybe wasn't thinking of going out cos he was a bit short, but if he's got some direct debits and can burn through his pay that fast I don't see that waiting 1 week more to do a runner is a possibility.
That's not the way I understand Nicola's comment, I think she is just saying that it was nearly payday, like lots of us Corrie was short near the end of the month. I can't be the only one who's been invited out, thought I'd better not go as I need to be a bit careful with my remaining money until payday then thought, what the hell, I'll go anyway.
I'm surprised that this has become anything important, he's a young lad who pots a night out above sensible budgeting, that's not unusual is it?
Quoting both of you just for clarity's sake.
My concern re. The financial issue is that, just like the puppy, it's been given as a reason, repeatedly, as to why
- why he ought to have have waited for 1 week til payday.... if he was planning on going missing.
- and interpreted as a reason( in some quarters) as to why he wouldn't be able to go AWOL full stop. ( the untouched bank accounts are thrown in too.)
All this is just as specious /“nebulous” as anything we might say on WS.
( I'm putting the side-issue about having no £ but still going out drinking aside for a moment. )
Why wait a week IF you are living beyond your means/poss have debts/DD's at start of month ( as per French's post) – it doesn't necessarily make a lot of difference.
You could still go missing IF you were skint IF you had other funds/ financial support from x person(s) unknown
Plenty of missing persons go missing both with very little planning and presume some do with the assistance of a supporter
(Not seen enough “evidence” in the constantly evolving info. yet to convince me that he couldn't have walked off/been assisted to leave.)
And you may not have planned to go missing for this long either so again your financial considerations would be different.
