I'm struggling to think of a reason he would tell the cleaner at Broadstairs to leave the bedding unchanged.

I am still catching up apologies if someone has replied already.
I immediately thought the old bedding will have her DNA - change of sheets would show she hasn't slept there.

eta -- nearly caught up now, and I think Nellie's thought of planted DNA makes more sense. Must read all before posting

I wonder if the defence will go with "Nick" and "Joe" - without even knowing any details I'm thinking this is going to be ridiculous.

I really hope they aren't the names of IS's sons.

Maybe the pillow slip (i`m taking that to mean a pillow case) is what he used to kill her dog with?

Sadly, I thought that as well. I realise it was most likely used when Helen was suffocated, but he could also have used it for Boris. He doesnt strike me as the kind of person who could do a hands on killing, so easier to entice Boris into the case with the toy, and then suffocate him.

Hi, I am new here and was a friend of Helen's. I also knew Ian from the widow's group we all met through. I'm using an assumed name but wanted to join as I need to express my grief and also correct some of the mistakes that have been reported. I hope this is ok

Welcome Pips. Good to have you on here. As Ironside has said, the Mods should be able to confirm you as a Verified Insider. Thank you for joining us.

Agree alyce with ur post 1125 above and

If it's hard to prove suffocation without a shadow of a doubt in a human, it must be even harder to be unequivocal in the case of canines too .

( Just can't imagine the forensic/pathology science for establishing cause of death is as advanced as it is in humans. )

Thanks. Poor boys - to lose your mum, then have to go through this ... I really hoped until today that it was all a big mistake for their sake - but having read all the details now I'm convinced it was him. I was the one who alerted him that the Facebook pages had the Herts Police link for missing people in April. I pinged him a PM saying what terrible news and he immediately responded "how did you know" ... not "have you heard from her". I always thought that was very odd

yes in a word, due to Helen taking his medication (unknown to him,he will say) the side effects caused her to become confused and she mis took the tank for something else (they only have to introduce reasonable doubt not complete innocence),it will explain the drugs in her system and how she got into the tank,Boris and his toy.But of course it dosn`t explain anything really just enough to muddy the waters and plant doubt.

If he does try that it will be his third attempt at an explanation of what happened to Helen.

Explanation 1. Via Ian Stewart when he first reported her missing - Helen left a note saying she wanted to be alone and was going to Broadstairs.

Explanation 2. Via Ian Stewart defence statement filed/served December 12, 2016 '... two men named just Joe and Nick were responsible for the murder and disposal of the body of Helen Bailey'.

Explanation 3. [Proposed by some as a likely defense Ian Stewart may use] Helen drugged herself over a period of several months and finally sleep-walked herself and her dog into a septic tank.

Hello Pips, many thanks indeed for posting and including the information about the boys' mother. I will certainly desist from comment and remove my earlier post. I feel so sorry for IS's sons - they must be devastated.

Thanks..

Ah, I missed this bit, saying Helen had used his car on April 11. Presumably to cover any dna found in his car at a later date.

Stewart told police his partner had taken his car to the tip in the morning before her death, but a search of her electronic activity suggested that she was in fact in contact with friends and using the internet during this period.

and, re the note

Bailey’s brother John Bailey asked Stewart to read him the note but he said he couldn’t find it

Ah yes, I remember reading a comment from him re who had set up the FB site for finding Helen. He sounded very abrupt and accusatory rather than appreciative.

( edited my first comment as I realised I was referring to public comment, not your PM )

Glad to have you join us Pips, your knowledge will be welcome but it will be distressing for you I'm sure. x

I do wonder if he overdosed Helen with Zopiclone ? I know suffocation has been mentioned, but I think an overdose is possible cause of death.
I do wonder how he was getting her to take them because they are bitter tasting pills. What a nasty, evil bloke.

Yes, the alleged note. I remember some of us questioning that from the off, whether an online note or handwritten and if latter, had it been examined by a graphologist to see whether her writing or not. For him to try and say he threw it away, no no no, all wrong.

This comment sounds as though they are talking of a cleaner at the Royston property.

The jury heard that Helen Bailey's cleaner told of 'unusual' circumstances at the home on the day of the murder.

Mr Trimmer said that the family's cleaner would give evidence over how Ms Bailey's Jeep was moved from a parking spot outside the house to over a manhole cover above the cesspit in the garage.

'We know eventually that Helen's Jeep was parked over that manhole cover,' said the prosecutor.

'Somebody has gone to the effort of parking that Jeep over the manhole cover.'

The jury also heard that the cleaner found women's clothes dumped on a laundry basket which was 'unusual' for the late author who was 'very tidy' and a 'creature of habit.'
