100% agree GC

I does make me feel that final/All verdicts aren't coming anytime soon

I guess he has to be available to take a verdict, therefore couldn't send them out to deliberate as he wasn't available. Presumably an urgent matter with another case coming his way maybe

Or maybe he forgot his packed lunch, panicked, sent some court minion off in a taxi to collect it and couldn't focus on anything until it was delivered safety into his waiting and hungry hands...

How about taking the day OFF? ;)

Somebody has to make a sacrifice for the good of all! :D
Oh, don't! I'm sure you're joking? (I don't think I could do it, gosh, just imagine you are all discussing the verdicts, and I wouldn't even know there was one!0

I am doing my best in Tasmania for the team!

I think he ordered a Hawaiian pizza that turned up without pineapple and so waited for a “correct” hawaiian pizza to turn up.

I understand now, we the ws raiders should raid ”tops pizza” in honour of our begrudged and pineappleless Pizza’d potential prosecutor.

who’s with me?

There’s a lot of pineapple talk going on and not enough pepperoni for my liking!

I’m just finishing my dinner (lunch) - thought I’d take it at same time as the Judge. Had some Wiejska in honour of @Dotta - not as nice as the one I usually buy from the deli but hey ho…

Oooooh it’s getting complicated. Let me check tops menu and see if they do half and half. Or maybe its buy a large pizza and get a small one half price. I think it will be fine so long as no one wants anchovies. I bet the judge likes anchovies though, someone tweet him.

Pepperoni. Not pineapple or anchovies. Leave the latter nonsense to ninja turtles and weirdos!

It's very strange that none of reporters have posted at all
Has anyone asked them on social media? Edited to add, I have now caught up with all the posts so ignore this post from me.

After a slight delay this morning, the jury in the trial of nurse Lucy Letby have just been sent out to begin their seventeenth day of deliberations. The seven woman and four man panel have so far been discussing the case at Manchester Crown Court for around 82hours
11:55 AM · Aug 10, 2023
Judge James Goss apologises for the delay, saying he had had to deal with another matter which is now 'all dealt with' and 'nothing to worry about'
11:56 AM · Aug 10, 2023
He informs the jury that, if they do not complete their deliberations today - court will not sit till 1pm tomorrow, as a juror has an important commitment in the morning. He also proposes extending the sitting times to 4.30pm next week (currently finishing at 4pm each day)
11:57 AM · Aug 10, 2023
ooh err wonder what the other matter was?

Anyone else struggling to keep enough patience to sit and see this through to the end by now?

Not that I don’t care, I care immensely, perhaps too much. Because I am so so frustrated at the lack of time the jury are actually able to deliberate, then we learn that deliberation times are being ‘extended’ by 30 minutes! What good is 30 minutes extra going to do?

Maybe I just lack the patience, but this case has gone on long enough IMO adding 30 minutes as an ‘extension’ to the court day is just so deflating. I am so hoping a verdict is announced today, before the late start for yet another commitment tomorrow. It’s so stressful just to follow, must be bordering on torturous for literally everyone else involved who has to travel to court every day.

Getting worried that they are hung or there will be a mistrial. My faith is waning.

ETA- I’m not ranting at anyone inparticular, it’s just a combination of everything that has happened in this trial over the last 10 months. Even at such a critical time there still appears to be some kind of crisis JMO

I feel you. I don’t like to mention it too much because there are people who will bite your head off if we show the slightest sign of impatience.
For me, I’m really taken aback that they haven’t reached a decision yet. Considering she offered zero defence apart from the trusty plumber. (whos evidence was irrelevant anyway because none of those plumbing issues occurred on the days of suspected attacks)

The jury went out 32 calendar days ago. Thats torture for all involved

I don't feel this way at all. It's a very complex case so no surprise it's taking a while. I don't see how you can say 'this case has gone on long enough'. It takes as long as it takes. IMO there will be a variety of verdicts, and likely some cases with a hung jury, but whatever happens I trust the jury to give it their best.

If nothing by 3:00pm today, they’ll be back tomorrow IMO.

Looks like the later finishes start tomorrow, Chester Standard reporting they’ll deliberate 1:00-4:30 tomorrow.

It's currently 15:12 and no news...

I believe we’re looking at next week at the earliest now. I do agree with @marynnu though, that as frustrating as it is to wait this long it’s better for them to take the time they need to get this right. I’m shocked at how long it’s been but some of the details and victims are complex.

Could they have been given an extra hour or so because of the delay earlier and because one member is unavailable tomorrow morning?
