So is he admitting to smothering Becky, not strangling her?
Yes, funny that his story has changed to match the post mortem results.

Crying can be heard in court as NM says he checked #beckywatts and she didn't have a pulse

NM says #beckywatts "stopped kicking" after he tried a technique they "used to use at school" to restrict the airway so she "would pass out"
But he just said she didn't resist?
I've said before that it isn't believable. Her hair and blood were on the boot liner. She would have to have been curled up to put in there and after 8 hours - and longer going by his story (not until 48 hours or so) - with rigor mortis she would have been fixed in that position.
Yes, funny that his story has changed to match the post mortem results.
'She got down to her knees and I got the handcuffs and put them on her'
Matthews has just told the jury about the moment he killed Becky.
Matthews said his mum Anjie had left to go to the hospital by the time he and Hoare arrived at Becky’s family home. A key had been left for them to get in.
Hoare had a cigarette and went out into the garden to feed the rabbit.
Matthews said: “I got the suitcase out and put it upstairs in the spare bedroom.
“I put the mask on and got the Cellotape ready.
“I knocked on the door. I can’t remember if I said anything. The door was opened and straight away I used the Cellotape around Becky’s mouth.”
Matthews was asked what he was thinking when he came face to face with becky.
He said: “I don’t know - I was following the plan.
“She turned round and I said something along the lines of ‘as long as you do what you are told you are going to be fine.’
“She got down to her knees and I got the handcuffs and put them on her.
“I put them behind.”
Matthews told the jury Becky did not resist.
He said: “I didn’t use my voice, I used a deep voice.
“I got her on her back and went to lift her to put her in the suitcase. I was struggling. I got her in and then my mask slipped.
“I put my hands over her eyes.
“When she was on her knees I told her to keep her eyes shut.
“My hand went straight over her eyes. I got the mask off and put the Cellotape over her eyes.”

We know that she did resist as she put up a fight. Something just doesn't add up.
I have fibro I was diagnosed over 15 years ago I get constant pain and take regular medication for it. I am not buying that NM did all this on his own, no way just the stress of it all would bring on a flare and a flare can last for weeks. I do know that everyone is different with their symptoms I accept that but, I cannot accept the lifting of a body up and down stairs, into a boot of a car, up more stairs into a bath holding a circular saw, I'm sorry no way could he do this without help! I am wondering if he has fibro at all I have known of people who mimic symptoms and get medication just to try and claim benefits believe me it happens!
[h=3]“I checked for a pulse and she didn’t have a pulse”[/h]Matthews said: “When I started putting her in the suitcase - that’s when she started wriggling, resisting.
“That’s when I put my fingers on her nose to restrict her breathing so she passed out.
“I put my hand on top of the Cellotape but she was still managing to breath.
“I put more Cellotape on to connect the mouth to the eyes part but she was still wriggling.
“And then I said ‘look don’t struggle, you are going to be released unharmed’ - but she was still refusing to get in the suitcase.
“And then I thought to make her pass out - to knock her out, basically I remember punching her just once.
“I didn’t feel comfortable trying to do it that way because there would be a lot of pain.
“The last thing I did was to try and make her pass out which is something we did at school - it’s like strangling but it doesn’t completely restrict the air.
“People at school would pass out - some would take a minute, some would take 15 or 20 seconds at a guest.
“Then after that she stopped kicking.
“I moved her head and moved her legs and tried to position her in the suitcase.
“Then I picked up all the other bits.
“Something didn’t seem right with her breathing because she was not breathing.
“Normally it would be a deep breath and then nothing for five seconds - but I couldn’t hear any breathing.
“I checked for a pulse and she didn’t have a pulse.”
A woman began sobbing in the public gallery and Matthews broke down in tears in the witness box with his head leaning on the lectern.

I didn't want to say so glad you have brought it up. I don't have fibro, I have had it queried as I suffered from pain, soreness, burning and tinging etc I mean I have crohns and anxiety, the symptoms were from that but one time I cleaned the kitchen, as I have done a million times, but this time I felt like I'd been hit by a bus, could barely walk for over a week. My honest opinion? I think he's a blagger.... I think he plays on it and exaggerates for his own (and SH's) needs
I wonder why the Pros didnt put up an expert to question NMs statement of being able to carry out this killing.
I have a friend who has Fibro ( admittedly older than NM ) but no way could she handle anything like this, even on a very good day. And as you say, just starting this kind of attack against another person would bring on a flare up immediately.
Re "boot liner" - hair yes, but I have seen nothing reported about blood on the liner. There was blood on a duvet and he admits taking a duvet from the spare room in CH so I suspect she was actually wrapped in that. We don't know the dimensions of the case but she was 5'1 and about 9st so I don't believe it.
I have mentioned before about suitcase and rigor. If he had waited 48 hours rigor would have reversed, however his story about taking the bag into CML on 19th (after SH was asleep) and putting the body in the bath on evening of 20th (after SH was asleep) is a bit out of the window since his written addendum on 4th March where he admits it was actually Fri 20th rather than Sat 21st when he left SH with AG (so he could go back to CML to "dispose" of the body).
Ah so he's saying the sellotape round her head was done at this point. I wonder if it was examined to see if it was from the same batch they bought the day after.
