Since your life is at stake? 1st, is KC being tried for capital murder? and 2nd, is this true or no? Thanks for any help.

Maybe in the plea deal knock the charges down but give her life with so many years she can not get out?

A large amount of time was taken up between LDB and JB talking at that sidebar. I think they are.... kicking around a plea deal.

If there is a plea deal, I think they would still go ahead and seat a jury for the penalty phase of the trial.

In December 2005, my nephew was murdered by his stepson in Texas. The stepson confessed. The trial went directly to the penalty phase as the guilt had already been determined. A jury was seated and the penalty phase began. After about a week of testimony, and just before the case was to go to the jury, a plea deal was reached.

Whats with the delaying..it serves no purpose. She sits in jail with or without a trial until there is one. So whats the advantage? Just so she does not have to hear them say guilty..I just dont get it.

I am stumped. I don't believe it's JB being sick or a personal family emergency--because why then all the mystery--why not just say so? Plus, they have a whole team of lawyers that could continue jury selection if one gets sick. Attorneys pick jurors while sick all the time and at least in my jurisdiction--unless you are in the hospital--the judge isn't let you go home because you're sick. I don't think it's to file an appeal because that would be discussed in open court--not in chambers--this is a public court process & the court can't close such matters to the public. Plus, the case RH cited doesn't apply here. Plea deal? No way, ICA will never admit to anything.

Its a plea. Judge would not close down court and waste a day. She is going to plea tomorrow.

While that would certainly be the most expedient and economical thing to do, I hope that's not the case because I REALLY want to see her squirm. I want to see what other tricks the Defense has up its sleeves so we can shred them. I want to see JB get smacked down HARD. I want to know what the Prosecution might have held back from the public. I want to find out what other dirty secrets are going to come out.

We'll find out info during allocution, but who can believe ANYTHING ICA says? We've waited almost three years for this to come to trial. I want a TRIAL!

Right and all matters between him and his client are private matters. This has to do with Casey.

Maybe Casey's panic attack the other day is contagious. If it's "illness" that caused Baez to leave then that's the kind of thing that could come out of no where and feel like something serious.

But it sounds like from his tweet that it's more of a "personal matter". Whatever that means.

A plea deal can be complicated with lots of stipulations. I think the judge is just giving them time to work it out.

Wow how did you find that out?

On the court calendar. It's for a client accused of theft of utilities and I am saying HHJBP will go through the roof!!! This could very easily have been dealt with and not interrupted jury selection.

I really just think that Casey and the defense team want either a new judge, or another group of potential jurors.

I think they are afraid, at this point, to go forward.

I will say this though. If it is a plea deal you can color me shocked. ICA just doesn't come across as someone who will EVER plea out. She's still so very defiant in court. Almost like she thinks how DARE the state of FL hold me accountable.

But if she ever does plea out it won't be until the very very very last second. ICA still has a lot of time left to plead out.

It's either a appeal or some stall tactic by JB.

I can't see this being a plea deal at all. The State would have to offer that and no way in the world are they going to give her another chance of a deal now.
Deals previously offered are all off the table now, for them to re-offer would be infuriating to Floridians after all the exense to get here. Plus their positions are elected ... unless they are planning retirement soon they wouldn't dare offer her anything at this stage - pure incompetence. MOO

Mr. Baez has a pre-trial hearing tomorrow @ 1:30 p.m. in Orlando at the Orange County court house. I am expecting HHJBP to go through the roof on this one.

I wouldn't put it past JB to have forgotten to clear his case load for this week and to have had to drive back to Orlando to request an extension or new pretrial date for this case. Maybe it couldn't be done by phone.

We know how JB is such a great attorney when it comes to following court procedure and notifying the court when he needs to.

If this is the case it would explain JBP's look of disgust at the delay.

I don't think he's allowed to quit or for Casey to fire him at this point unless something aggregious or health/life-threatening occurred. Even if he was off the case, though, Cheney is still there, so proceedings would continue, and we would have seen the Judge making some sort of ruling on it or mention of it.

Something before lunch happened, possibly during the sidebar to make JPB order such a long lunch break. He would never do this on his own as his priority is to get a jury sworn ASAP to avoid any jury tampering.

I don't think he would do this unless the DT came up with some excuse for needing this much time.

IMO, the DT are now at their long hallway, one more PJ accepted and we have a sworn jury.

CM and JB are two sneaky, snarky attorneys and their plan all week was to postpone getting a jury seated. They will do anything to avoid getting that 12th juror.

Whatever this latest private matter is, it has been planned all week and I don't think it will be their last stunt.

Planned or not, there are 2 attorneys on ICA's team that have consistently shown me they do have possess the respect for the profession of law that they practice but instead choose to manipulate at every opportunity to suit their needs and not of the system itself. I'll leave the guesswork as to who they are. JMO

Maybe it was a test run for ICA. Before she would take a plea perhaps they wanted her to see how most already think she is guilty. There is no reasoning with her, maybe it took her seeing it for herself before she would believe it.
