    Deceased/Not Found Canada - Alvin, 66, & Kathy Liknes, 53, Nathan O'Brien, 5, Calgary, 30 Jun 2014 - #13

I work in dementia care in a private facility. I am a middle aged woman of medium stature and weight. I don't mind telling you that it is a considerable strain on any given day to move even a one hundred pound body around, alive or dead. And I'm no shrinking violet. Kudos to those women who can...

For what it is worth... I just finished listening to The World at 6 news report by the CBC here on Vancouver Island. To partially quote them in their explanation of the Mexican search "Douglas Garland's sister was in a relationship with the son of Alvin Liknes." A definite use of past tense...

Purple gas is also known as "marked' gas. It is regular gasoline or diesel to which an additive has been added to give it a mauve colour. It is meant to be used only in off road farm vehicles and heavy equipment. You are not supposed to drive a vehicle powered by marked fuel on...

If there was a copious amount of blood at the scene, I am thinking that death would not have necessarily been immediate. The heart continues to pump until it cannot support life, or runs out of blood to pump. In the case of brain death by trauma, the heart would be stopped. So.. awful to think...

[/B] Ugh. Thanks a bunch for that reminder, Cattools. That was a bitter pill to swallow. Those trials went on for far too long!

Going back to the comments made at the first press conference ... does anyone have a link? I think the father said that Nathan had strong faith and his soul was with God, and the mother said that her mother would have been protecting her son ... arms around him comment? I really liked the...

Thank you so much for this articulate and lengthy account of how things look for the families after this tragedy. Coupled with the unspeakable grief of this loss, all of the situations and decisions and responsibilities you have mentioned will be nearly insurmountable for years to come. Having...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifford_Olson Parents everywhere were terrified of this man, for good reason. It was a terrible time in British Columbia and the ensuing court case and eventual 'bargain' ( $10,000 for each victim) was despicable. He rotted in jail until his death. Good riddance.

There has been much discussion around the bankruptcies, etc., and also vagueness regarding KL's employment. I am wondering just HOW the Ls were living on a daily basis, financially. We all know what it takes to run a household day to day and how much everything costs, from groceries to...

Just a dreadful musing... I wonder if DG was abused in some terrible way when he was younger, and also, if he had any history of abusing animals? Was his family involvement minimal by his own choice or was he excluded in family gatherings due to his past history or behaviours?

If something heavy was dragged in a blanket or rug etc., across concrete, I would speculate that there would be fibers or fluff left behind on the rough surfaces.. even if they couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

Just an odd thought... Although I haven't looked really closely at any of the photos posted of AL and KL, given their age and 'generation' and the fact they were married, I would expect that both may be wearing wedding rings. KL appears to be fashionable in her photographs, and as such may have...

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/body-found-in-water-near-glenmore-trail-1.2705327 What odd wording ... How could finding a body in a reservoir of city drinking water NOT be suspicious? I would think there would be another way to state that there was no foul play. Did they expect to find...

What about that handy feature of 'call forwarding' from a land line? Your home number can be forwarded to any other number you may choose when away from home. Or would the authorities be able to tell if the call was forwarded?

My understanding of homeless shelters is that they are merely a temporary night time refuge. People don't usually 'reside' in one. Where would he spend his day time hours?? And $750 bail? That is a very arbitrary (and low) amount of money. IMO. I wonder if the CPS and RCMP are frustrated by this...

A couple of thoughts... Cardston, AB is the town where MKH was from and is buried. It is 262 km (193 mi) directly south of Airdrie. If someone (DG) wanted to procure a new identity, why would he choose one from a deceased person so close to home? I think it would be quite risky to do so. People...

If KL is a licensed realtor wouldn't she have to maintain her licensing fees, which are substantial as I understand it. Realtors are usually connected to a large corp/real estate company. Therefore, I guess I am curious about her being able to afford the fees, etc, without actually selling any...
