My husband tells me he now has chest pain. OMG--- should i call an ambulance to take him to the the hospital--- or should i drive him there? i have been totally exposed as well.

@ilovewings
I'm sorry I wasn't awake... but chest pains = 911 and ambulance I have always heard. (even over driving as continual medical care if ambulance is used and immediate admission to hospital w/o wait if needed MOO)

Even before COVID nothing to mess with. Keep us up to date and positive thoughts coming your way.

When to seek emergency medical attention

Look for emergency warning signs* for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:
  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion
  • Inability to wake or stay awake
  • Bluish lips or face

So Pence is going to continue the rallies, despite being exposed by a staffer who tested positive?

"While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr. Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel."

Marc Short, chief of staff for Mike Pence, tests positive for coronavirus - CNNPolitics

It appears that he is considered a critical worker, and since no symptoms, he is continuing on under guidelines although the other exposed close contact aides were pulled it appears from the travel on the plane Saturday.

Critical Workers, Interim Guidance Updated Sept. 11, 2020-->>> Communities, Schools, Workplaces, & Events
"To ensure continuity of operations of essential functions, CDC advises that critical infrastructure workers may be permitted to continue work following potential exposure to COVID-19, provided they remain asymptomatic and additional precautions are implemented to protect them and the community."

While their behavior is foolhardy, I doubt it violates IRS non-profit restrictions for charitable organizations.

It is the charitable part that is questionable, to me.

A charitable organization or charity is an organization whose primary objectives are philanthropy and social well-being (e.g. educational, religious or other activities serving the public interest or common good).
Charitable organization - Wikipedia

I'm not sure how much 'common good' and 'social well-being' is being delivered when they ..... "failed or refused” to ensure social distancing and other COVID-19 preventive measures, it said.
And when they ..... won’t provide a list of attendees so health officials can conduct contact tracing and notify people that they may have been exposed.

My husband describes that when he moves or turns over (like in bed) he gets a sharp pain which he has never had before

I am sure people will be watching closely to see if he wears a face mask at all times, as is now required.

Once a person has contracted coronavirus, it can take 2–14 days for symptoms to appear. The average incubation period appears to be roughly 5–6 days.
What are the early symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19)?

It's worse. Here is the rest of the story, according to this article.

But under the proposed rule, the annual visa renewal would require an additional step -- applying through US Customs and Immigration Services. That processing time could take 5 to 19 months, according to the USCIS website, and interrupt doctors' ability to continue working at their hospitals.
And the Association of American Medical Colleges projects a shortage of up to 139,000 physicians in the US by 2033.

What is reported on CNN about government agencies, should be taken with a very large grain of salt. Not unlike the same situation with information reported by Fox News.

They should almost no longer be considered "Main Stream Media", because of the extreme political partisanship demonstrated by both entities.

Please consider 911! Best wishes, my fellow Michigander!

@ilovewings ..Or minimally call your nurse line with your insurance company and listen to them, and also if they tell you to call 911 /go to ER it will be covered by insurance (I had this happen one time... insurance refused to cover my ER visit as the "result" was not considered life threatening, but I had called the nurse line and they told me to go to ER AND I had gotten a reference number on my phone call.... so after my appeal, they covered and paid. Having that reference number WAS KEY for my appeal to prove it - they may resist giving one, but demand it as they are required to give)

REMOTE, (Oct. 22, 2020): The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) today updated its COVID-19 guidance for indoor visits in residential care facilities to include guidelines related to voting.

The updated guidance clarifies that family members, friends, and certain other people may visit facility residents in order to help them vote from now until polls close on Nov. 3. The guidance also permits visits to help a resident “cure” a ballot when needed, through Nov. 12.

Visitors must take precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including screening for symptoms before visiting, wearing a mask, and limiting visits to outdoor areas, if possible. COVID-19 testing prior to visits for voting purposes is not required.

The update to this guidance is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to ensure that Coloradans are able to cast their ballots safely from now until the general election on Nov. 3. For more information on voting and the election, visit govotecolorado.gov.

Horrors! What could possibly go wrong?

This is such a tough thing. We don't want them going to the polls because they're at high risk, and yet, they don't really need visitors right now, either.

I feel bad for anyone in that situation or with a loved one in that situation.

I get chest pain when moving to my side in bed when I have pleurisy. But I would go to the hospital, just in case, given his other symptoms. It may just be pleurisy but it may not. I wouldn’t panic, but I would go.

I was thinking of pleurisy: he doesn't want to go to the hospital: says he feels a little better than yesterday- T 99.5-- he is going to get tested this morning- 2 day turnaround and if he feels worse he will go to the hospital. I told him he needs to wear a mask around me and i will have to sanitize certain areas of the house. It is awful these days that symptoms like this, one considered no big deal are now considered life-threatening. Thank you for your response. it is appreciated. I try to be positive-- i just could not figure out how he would have gotten the virus: we wear masks all the time when we are out, and everyone around my neighborhood wear masks as well. I make sure he washes his hands when we come back from anywhere.

All they need to do is categorize and fast-track those who are in healthcare. We don't want to lose any doctors right now.

I am not familiar with a nurse line--- please explain- it sounds like a good idea!

Thank goodness!

I've been worried since your last post earlier this morning.

You're doing all the right things by wearing masks and washing hands -- I sure hope this is just pleurisy and that he's okay.

Thank you so much for your good thoughts--- such stressful times!!! I think back to a year ago at this time: Never heard of Covid--- lived normal lives- sigh

Yes, going to the polls will be risky, but visits can be done safely. For example look at some of the differences in protocol of the Colorado long term care facilities with the one I wrote about earlier in London, ON. There was a protocol in place earlier, but the protocol was adapted earlier this week because of community spread (10 new cases).

London: One designated carer is allowed to visit.
Colorado: Family members, friends, and certain other people may visit facility residents.

London: Each carer will have a 15 min., online training session in the Covid protocol.
Colorado: No mention of what, if any, training is required.

London: Carer must have specific PPE training.
Colorado: No training required.

London: Carer must have flu shot.
Colorado: No flu shot required.

London: Carer must have neg CoVid test within one week of visit.
Colorado: CoVid test not required.

London: Visitors may not enter communal areas within the building (elevators, foyer, dining areas, etc).
Colorado: Visits should be outdoors if possible. (What if it's not possible?)

Etc.

You're probably right, but surely "charity" has a moral obligation that comes with the designation. An organisation that cares not a twit for its people and community, is not a charity. IMO

Health Officials Warn of Possible COVID Exposure at 2 NH Restaurants, 1 Casino
New Hampshire health officials announced Saturday that they have identified three more establishments with potential community exposure to COVID-19, one day after they announced exposure at five well-known restaurants across the state.

If you live in the US, most ALL insurance companies have a nurse line for ALL policy holders. MOO. Look on the back of your card or call the main line to ask. I'm BCBS/Anthem with ObamaCare, and I have such nurse line option. I've always had a 24/7 nurse line on any of my policies within the past 15 years IIRC, even before ObamaCare. Let us know how all is going as is so scary difficult during these COVID times.
