LE could have bloody shoeprints of the killers we don't know. But I wonder why the bloodhounds were not out in the immediate aftermath. You would think scent dogs would have been useful in a situation like this.
Scent hounds would need something of the killer's. There are probably 20 scent trials hours old, you have four vitims, two survivors, possible guests of survivors, and who the survivors called to come over all in the space of a few hours. And dogs cant judge time. So there could be 100 scent trails in the past few days.

I have always wondered that. I don’t remember reading or seeing they were used in the first day or two. Pretty sure I saw them there day 3/4 after.

Today LE announced they have over 10,000 phone tips. Pre white Hyundai Elantra it was under 3,000 phone tips. So tips increased by over 250 percent since they said Hyundai Elantra. I assume they are getting flooded with white car tips right now.
And sadly a good amount of those tips will be junk. From what I saw, in the tips released in the Caylee Anthony case... people will send theories or feelings, and not facts, people will send in their dreams and psychic visions, and report any ex husband or boyfriend who owns a white sedan. That one good tip will be buried in that pile. IMO.

60 FBI agents on this case now. Evidence shows this is a targeted attack has been the LE line since day number 2. I think they have a pretty good idea who did this but they don't want to foul up the arrest, trial, and conviction. I view the increase in FBI agents a result of needing people to watch video tape and go through 5000 Hyundai Elantra tips.

Why not release a still of the Hyundai in question ?

To be able to state the model and years of the car with such accuracy , makes me believe they have an actual video or picture of it, not just neighbors accounts that it was there.

What is the harm in releasing a pic of it? And also , do they want Hyundai owner all across the United States calling in tips about their neighbors Elantra’s ? What is the geographical range here of Hyundai owners/occupants that they are wanting?

Genuinely asking ….
Just a thought but I wonder if the images LE has of the Hyundai also show the person who is driving the Hyundai and they don’t want that image getting out to the public? The picture could be blurry and LE doesn’t know who the driver is - or maybe they have an idea of who the driver is but need more evidence which is why they’re asking the public

MOO

Scent dogs were used in the early days of the investigation.
The Lewiston Tribune 11/15/2022

I suppose if there was a specific scent to focus on the dogs may be useful. With so many students on campus and walking in the vicinity of the property, what would have been left inside for the dogs to focus on ? If it is just human scent, then again, what would do in a high traffic area such as the area around the home.

Also from Independent (yesterday): Idaho murders – update: Victim’s father says ‘Adam’ mentioned in new video isn’t a suspect in Moscow stabbings

"Investigators gather footage 24 miles away from crime scene

Sunday 18 December 2022 20:30

Investigators have gathered surveillance footage from as far as 24 miles away from the student rental home where four University of Idaho students were murdered as the hunt for the killer continues.

Security footage has been collected from the Food City store in Kendrick, Fox News reported.

A manager at the store – which is about 24 miles east of Moscow – said that Idaho State Police had reached out on 30 November asking for footage from 12 November to 14 November. (BBM)

The manager said they were able to provide video covering those timeframes.

In the town of Troy – around 12 miles east of Moscow – a gas station employee revealed that law enforcement officials had also come knocking for footage but that the business was unable to help as it does not have cameras outside.

It is not clear whether investigators are honing in on those Idaho towns for any particular reason but the revelation comes amid a search for the occupant or occupants of a white Hyundai Elentra which was spotted “in the immediate area” around King Road at the time of the murders

Agree, you would expect, we have a person getting into the car, we have the car behaving a certain way, we would like anyone to tell us more about a person associated with the car and why they might be in that area and why they behave in such a way. Then, by observing more closely, they may be able to learn more, and more.

...10,000 tips to sort through, and people question why there has been no reward offered.

I think we are for sure dealing with a psychopath. What we don't know is whether it is a narcissistic psychopath or an antisocial psychopath. The former is likely the result of parental overvaluation and the later likely the result of a harsh upbringing. Whichever the case I believe we need to seek the death penalty.
I have a strong opinion that this is putting the cart before the horse.

I’m wondering if they’re realllly thinking that maybe it’s only a matter of time before he strikes again. Perhaps the increase in FBI agents is a result of BAU’s in-depth profiling and arrived conclusion.

Eta: I talked about this in the quoted post just posted below this one about “Be Vigilant”.

Eta2: Maybe they’re seeing they need a lot more help, that this investigation spans wider, that there is sooo much work to be done and followed up on that they need more help.

Just jumping in here, unsure if this is the link..
''MOSCOW, Idaho - Fox News has learned investigators traveled at least 24 miles to the east of Moscow, Idaho, to the nearby towns of Troy and Kendrick to acquire surveillance video in relation to the quadruple homicide of four University of Idaho students.

An employee at a gas station in Troy, Idaho, about twelve miles east of Moscow on Highway 8, tells Fox News investigators asked for video, but their property doesn’t have a camera facing outside.

MOO- is it possible they added this many more FBI to the case because they received information or discovered evidence that may link whoever is responsible of this crime to another crime? I just find it very odd they went from 42 agents to 62 agents over night due to the number of tips they need to go through.
I dont find it odd. specialist agents or other FBI or DOJ staff (they are not all agents) leave the case as their specialty is no longer needed, and others may join. some may go from part to full or full to part time on this case.

I don't think it at all points to a link. In fact of all the things we can have highs confidence on, one is that the FBI is not currently thinking of a link. The FBI is not leak proof. A lot of leaking happens from DOJ and FBI in DC because reporters giving IOUs is valuable currency that furthers careers. and that would be one very juicy high value pice of info to leak on background or off the record.

Rather this crime is the type of crime the FBI would normally be heavily involved in due to the issues of all the variety of DNA that may be in that house, utlity of leading edge photo/video/signals technology that they have that can be applied by a top resource actor like US DOJ. And the fact that this mass murder as far as we know does not have a self precipitating aspect is relevant.

Thanks for the link, interesting article on LE requesting security video at gas stations in the towns of Troy and Kendrick, east of Moscow, and Kendrick south of Troy.

Its not clear what you mean by "half hour time frame" I believe I read a specific time the car was observed. The murders have a time frame. The other time the "potential car" was identified had a specific time. Am I helpful ?
In the quoted section of my post - at the end it states ‘The vehicle was travelling west on Taylor Road sometime between 2.45am & 3.15am… this is directly what I was referring to when said I don’t understand the half hour timeframe. MOO
