These News Agencies all wrote that their journalist was not working on October 7th. How strange !

How did they know as he (they) worked as freelance ?

Please correct me if I am wrong.
Some of them cannot be disputed. They have photos and videos of themselves breaching the fence and walking through the kibbutzim. So far, I’ve seen names of six that were there. Some of them watermarked their work.

Wouldn't that present the same issues as Egypt was trying to avoid-- namely "permanent refugees"?

Amazing, but not necessarily in a good way.
Exactly how are they going to 'vet' these protected immigrant status persons ... to ensure there are no terrorist/Hamas embedded within their ranks ?

Answer: They're not. Just going to hope they can assimilate in the U.S. ?
Maybe not even that (assimilate).
The U.S is very different from Gaza and there are going to be customs that would be difficult for Gazans to accept.

My .02 is to be very cautious.
There has to be a reason other countries, incl. Jordan and Egypt, don't want them.
Omo.

Israeli mayor fears disastrous chemical explosion triggered by attacks from Lebanon

HAIFA, Israel — The mayor of Haifa, Israel’s third-largest city, says she’s working to minimize the risk of a catastrophic explosion triggered by rockets launched from Lebanon earlier this week.

Mayor Einat Kalisch-Rotem told NBC News she had ordered that petrochemicals and other hazardous materials be moved away from the Haifa Bay, home to Israel’s largest port. She said city officials are meeting daily about the issue.

The nightmare scenario evokes the 2020 accident at the Port of Beirut, just 80 miles north of Haifa, where ammonium nitrate exploded, she said. Hundreds were killed and thousands injured, and huge swaths of the city were badly damaged.

The mayor spoke after rockets were launched at Haifa this week for the first time in the war, marking the deepest point in Israel targeted from Lebanon so far. Hamas militants claimed responsibility. Kalisch-Rotem said that if a missile is launched from Lebanon toward Haifa, residents have no more than 60 seconds to make it into a shelter before potential impact.

to promote a "journalist" who is an active Hamas supporter. Hind Khoudary denounced a Palestinian peace activist for talking to Israeli peace activists 3 years ago. He was imprisoned by Hamas as a result of her actions. 1/2

Many media watchdogs and Israeli activists have written about Hind Khoudary (@hindkhoudary), a self-proscribed journalist. HonestReporting recently revealed that Khoudary, who has been quoted by the Washington Post, Associated Press, and others, turned a group of Palestinian peace activists over to Hamas, which led to their arrest.

This week I was in deep in the northern Gaza Strip, embedded with the Combat Engineering Corps' 614th Battalion. On the outskirts of Gaza City, troops found and destroyed a Hamas tunnel. The entrance was hidden underneath a child's bed in a large beachfront home. UN Security Council to meet again on Friday to deliberate Israel-Hamas war

No resolution is expected to come out of the meeting as the top UN body remains divided, with the US making clear that it will veto drafts calling for a ceasefire, which it says will benefit Hamas and therefore cannot support.

Tomorrow’s session will focus on “the spiraling health crisis amidst continued attacks on hospitals,” says a spokesperson for the UAE’s Mission to the UN, which called the meeting along with France.

Members will be briefed by World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

IDF says it struck Syria in response to drone attack on Eilat school

The military announces it carried out strikes in Syria in response to a drone attack on a school in Israel’s southernmost city of Eilat.

A statement from the Israel Defense Forces says it targeted the organization that launched the drone, without specifying who was behind the attack, where it originated or what the IDF hit.

“The Syrian regime is fully responsible for all terror activity that is carried out from Syrian territory. The IDF will respond severely to any attempt to harm the territory of the State of Israel,” says the statement.

UN says 50,000 Gazans fled through corridor set up by IDF, municipal wells shut down

[...]

It was the sixth consecutive day in which the IDF allowed civilians to evacuate south through the Salah a Din humanitarian corridor, with 50,000 evacuating over the course of seven hours.

“Hundreds of thousands of people remaining in the north [of Gaza] are struggling to secure the minimum amounts of water and food to survive,” OCHA says in its daily update.

[...]

An unconfirmed number of foreign nationals evacuated Gaza through Egypt’s Rafah crossing along with a handful of wounded people who will be treated on the other side of the border, OCHA says.

Thursday saw all municipal water wells shut down due to lack of fuel, after several days of limited operation, OCHA adds. As a result, the trucking and pumping of brackish water for non-drinking domestic uses came to a halt.
