VERDICT WATCH Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #213

I think it's not that the jury might have questions of RA, it's that this is his trial, a jury of his peers, and any questions the jurors have have to be asked in front of him, which would of course imply in front of his Defense, the State and the Court.

Spot on as usual! Anything 'additional' that might be asked, needs to be done before both parties, and that includes the defendant.

How long does ring camera footage last? I wonder if any neighbor's cameras caught his car returning home on video and better yet him walking out of the car.
Probably something a lot more helpful in 2017.

I know my 8 DVR cameras save about 2 weeks worth... then the oldest gets written over.

No way RA is on camera in his neighborhood from 5 years beforehand when he returned.

I've seen a lot of people say that they hope that Libby's video is made public after the trial.

In last night's The Murder Sheet episode, they talked about how during the closing the prosecution played the video again, first the un-enhanced version followed by the stabilized version. Last time it was shown in court, the hosts were seated at awkward angle to the screen. Yesterday they had a good view of it.

Both of them stated that the fear in Abby's face as she hurries toward Libby is visible, obvious, and heartbreaking.

I don't want to see that part. Ever.

They did mention how you see BG somewhat in the distance at first, then the camera goes down for a bit, and the next time it comes up he is much much closer before the camera then goes quickly downward again and is followed shortly by "Guys..."

I'm with you. I don't need to see her fear to know it was there. Something you can't un-see her knowing she was under attack trapped at the end of the bridge with her friend.

Makes me sick at my stomach.

Just random but it's interesting to me that the defense has never offered up any proof that RA could not have committed the crime because he was someplace else.

I know that particular deceased equine has been beaten multiple redundant times already.
Probably because he said he was there at the time. It does make things difficult.
The defense have gone the other way round.
'Well he was probably there. But there was other people there too you know.'
There was that fella that lives over the back. He was at work but he did drive home near the bridge l. He's also got sticks in his garage.
They have really tied themselves in knots and come up with diddly squat.
If he gets off, that will lie completely at the door of the LE investigation and absolutely nothing to do with Allen's defense.

Repeating myself:

I haven't followed this case very closely until the trial. I think RA is guilty based on what I've heard and seen from the trial.

But I wasn't there every day for the whole thing, and the jurors were. No one can say they didn't ask intelligent questions. So I trust their judgment. If they deem RA not guilty, I'm okay with that. They decided the state didn't prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

As far as I can tell, the legal system is working as it was intended to.

Signs saying #DirtyDelphi
Accusing JG and the LE of terrible things.

I can't believe that the DT fans went to that tiny community that has suffered so much and they are rubbing their vitriol to the town's faces. Keep your bias for reddit, people. That's vile.

I suppose the alternative sit in a separate room while the 12 deliberate?? It would be hard not to chime in the discussions after sitting through the same trial with the jury.

jmo
There is no separate room. According to The MurderSheet, they were seated on extra chairs by the juror box.

Moo I guess?

EDIT: OMG I AM DAFT you meant - while they deliberate! No, according to what I read in the fast-moving threads, they will be listening to the deliberation but not contributing. I wish I could find the link... so MOO

@NewsyBarbara

While we wait for a verdict - some notes from closing arguments. First up from the state. Nicholas McLeland: “we told you we’d prove Richard Allen killed Abby and Libby and the state has done just that.”

In his first interrogation Allen said he was wearing similar clothes as Bridge Guy on 2/13, placed himself on trails and bridge, stood on platform like Betsy Blair testified and he said he saw the 3 girls who also saw BG.

When LE did search warrant at Allen home McLeland said they found a Bridge Guy starter kit: .40 cal sig sauer, blue Carhart jacket, boots, and images of the bridge in a photo album.

The defense focused their closing arguments on: the broken timeline, bungled ballistics, false confessions, and the digital forensics. Brad Rozzi said defense had to tell jurors the rest of the story bc the state didn’t.

Things like: no height analysis done on BG video, lost interviews in 2017, lack of info about Ford Focus’ in area, witnesses who were on bridge but didn’t hear screams, that Brad Weber’s gun was not excluded as source of bullet at scene, Weber’s inconsistent statements,

Unreliable bullet analysis, and the info about headphones being plugged into Libby’s phone after Allen left crime scene. Rozzi: “You should question the credibility of this investigation”

The defense called the state’s case “desperation at it’s finest”

They are in the jury room but they can't join in with deliberations. They have to remain engaged with the jury's deliberations.
