Presenting that one vent from a private group chat kinda reminds me of the way the prosecutor cherry picked from Kathleen Folbigg's diaries. And yes it was 6mths or so prior to the lunch invite.
Yes, and didn’t they get that wrong. Shocking injustice.

The pre-lunch lies can't be explained by 'panic' IMO.
One wonders—does the tendency for creating emotive untruths extend well before the “planning” for this lunch?

From personal experience, I’ve seen that some people are simply habitual liars. For the person I know, it’s an intrinsic part of their logic and reasoning—a reflexive drive to bend reality to fit their internal narrative. On the surface, the lies might seem harmless—why she was late, why she missed a commitment, etc.—but over time, it compounded and compounded. Holding her accountable only triggered deeper lies and greater conflict. It became clear that it was more than just poor behaviour; it was a pattern—an absolute personality disorder.

So the question is:
Was Erin Patterson historically honest, and these lies—before the lunch—part of a calculated and conscious deception?
Or is this the pattern of a lifelong predisposition, where manipulation and untruths were a constant theme, and the untruths prior to the lunch events were an extension of this character trait?

They picked photos of dehydrated mushrooms, the dehydrator
Of the seven samples tested from the dehydrator, only 2 were DC (ABC Podcast).

2 things I noted----I never really saw any tears but did note that she kept wiping her eyes then looking at her hand. Was she checking for tears?
Mascara? To avoid panda eyes on tv?

"A bit to digest" is an understatement.

I also saw no tears on the video and I zoomed right in.
She put on quite a performance though.

Side note - as a Brit I am APPALLED she would even consider using filo pastry and instant gravy with BW …. It’s a bottle of really good red with beef stock reduced for an hr FGS.
She’s not all that bright really is she ?
JMO.

Break is over and we're talking cell towers

By Mikaela Ortolan

The jurors return from a quick break and we're now taking a look at cell tower connections.

We'd previously heard evidence from Telecommunications expert Dr Matthew Sorell who said Erin's phone was connected to mobile phone towers in Loch and Outtrim.

Prior to that we'd heard that an online post identified death cap mushrooms growing in those areas.

LSC Eppingstall is still on the stand.

She also bought 1.5kgs of Mashed potato, can't tell if this is 'instant' frozen mashed potato - or was that meant to read "mashing potato"?

Either way, it looks like all of her focus went into the duxelle, not so much the food served with it.

The Recipetineats recipe called for a red wine jus. I've never heard of beef wellington served with gravy.

Mascara? To avoid panda eyes on tv?
If she had worn makeup she would have been called vain for caring about her looks when people were so unwell.

Disagree immensely.
About the Kathleen Folbigg case? Have you listened to the recent podcast, I catch killers (I think). They stuffed it up and jailed an innocent women for 20 years, absolutely appalling.

Yes I know very much about that case, and disagree that she is innocent. She was not acquitted. But I don't want to muddy this thread with that off topic case...

Eppingstall details medical records showing no evidence Patterson diagnosed with cancer

On 7 September 2023, Eppingstall says he received information from the Victorian cancer registry database that there was no evidence of Patterson being diagnosed with cancer.

Eppingstall says he also obtained Patterson’s medical records for 2023. This involved getting Medicare records and then getting warrants to obtain records from providers.

It showed Patterson had been to three medical centres in 2023 – Leongatha

Jury shown pages from Gail Patterson’s diary

The jury is then shown pages from Gail Patterson’s diary.

The entry on 24 June 2023 says “Lunch with Erin [and her children].”

The entry on 28 June 2023 says ‘Erin – St Vincent’s arm lump”

Eppingstall says police made inquiries about whether Patterson had a St Vincent’s medical appointment on that day.

There were no medical records found of Patterson attending St Vincent’s on 28 June 2023, the court hears.

The entry on 29 July 2023 says: “lunch at Erin’s w Heather and Ian.”

Jury shown text message defendant sent to lunch attenders

On 5 July 2023 Gail texted Patterson to ask about her medical appointment the prior day, the court hears.

The jurors are shown a text message Patterson sent to Gail on 7 July 2023:

Thanks for your message Don and Gail. There’s a bit to digest with everything that’s come out of it all. I might talk more about it with you both when I see you in person.
Eppingstall says records showed Patterson had no medical appointments on 6 July 2023.

He says Patterson had one medical appointment in June at Mount Waverley GP regarding a complaint about “rib soreness” due to a reported fall weeks earlier.

Patterson was referred for an X-ray which was clear, the court hears.

Jurors shown text messages from defendant referencing medical appointments for which there are no records

Jurors are then shown an extraction report from Gail Patterson’s mobile phone, which contains text message sent and received.

A text message sent by Gail to Erin on 28 June 2023 is shown:

Hi Erin, Just wondering how you got on at your appointment today? Love Gail and Don.
Eppingstall says Patterson’s Medicare records showed she had no medical appointments that day.

In a message shown to the court, Erin replied at 11.52am on 29 June.

Hi Gail. Sorry I had taken [Patterson’s daughter] to see a movie last night. We saw the Little Mermaid. The appointment went ok. Thanks for asking. I had a needle biopsy taken of the lump and I’m returning for an MRI next week …
Eppingstall says police identified no record of Patterson having a needle biopsy for her arm or being scheduled for an MRI appointment.

Gail later replied: “That’s a test of patience isn’t it!? Praying you’ll know God’s peace …”

Erin and Simon message about their children

By Mikaela Ortolan

We're taken through more messages sent on Singal [sic] between Erin and her estranged husband Simon.

The pair are mainly talking about their children's sporting commitments and how well they were playing.

At one stage Erin asks Simon if he can come to one of the sporting games.

Part of the message reads:

Erin: Hey I really hope you can come see [our son] play bball this season even if you have to miss a Bible study. He's playing really well ...

[IMO I don't know how this is relevant but more context might be later]

It could be both. IMO

Erin had previously learnt about factory resets, court hears
By Joseph Dunstan

The court is taken to messages between Erin Patterson and her Facebook friends, between December 17 and 19, 2022.

In the first one, attributed to the user Erin ErinErin, she says:

my phone screen is broken and it wouldn't respond to any commands or anything. Everything is on my phone, all my passwords are in my password vault and I was trying to log into it on my laptop and it was sending an authorisation email to my emails which i couldn't access because i didn't have my password which was inside my vault

She adds:

anyway I've been googling everything trying to get into my phone and emails and just couldn't but then something suggested I could do a hard reboot of my phone and restart it in safe mode and it might fix the frozen screen issue and it worked ... for now. But the screen is broken and might freeze again at any second so now that i am in i am copying down everything i need from it lol
