I feel ill, and not because of the fecal testimony and lack of hygiene displayed by Erin. Especially handling food after not washing her hands after the alleged diarrhoea incident on the side of the road.

It feels like she's been sitting in the court brooding and coming up with a 'cork' for lack of a better term to plug every single hole in the story. Everyone else in Erin's narrative is a liar, according to her testimony.

It feels dark, manipulative, and sickening. IMO
It's really bad having to listen to all of Erin's bowel activities. I'm just thankful it's not about her sex life.

Didn’t Simon say she didn’t have many plates.

As she didn’t entertain, it’s possible she didn’t think about plates until it got closer. Just her kiddie plates on rotation. Not sure how close the closest dept store or a discount store such as Big W, etc is but it’s possible she doesn’t have an entertaining set or give it any thought until it was too late. I would plan on every level but I know that everyone has a different level of focus and some aren’t bothered by mis matched plates, etc.

I wonder if she disposed of plates and crockery that we don't know about?

'Is that how you poisoned my parents?': How Simon reacted to dehydrator conversation

That afternoon, Erin says there was conversation between herself, Simon and the kids.
She recalls explaining there were concerns the lunch had made others sick, with Erin explaining to her children that they had eaten leftovers from that lunch with the mushrooms scraped off.
That led to a discussion about mushrooms and a food dehydrator, she says.

“I just remember a conversation … (that our daughter) doesn’t like mushrooms but … when I made muffins with dried mushrooms inside as like a blind taste test, she preferred the muffin with the most amount of mushrooms in it,” she says.

“We we thought that was quite interesting.”
Erin says her children left the room and she spoke to Simon alone.
“He said to me: ‘Is that how you poisoned my parents, using that dehydrator?'” she says.
“I said: ‘of course not’.”

She said that caused her to reflect on the lunch.

“It caused me to do a lot of thinking about a lot of things,” she says.
“I was starting to think, what if (death caps had) gone in the container with the Chinese mushrooms? Maybe that had happened.”

“Simon seemed to be of the mind that maybe this was intentional and I just got really scared.”

IMO, ALL of the above ^^^ was made up by EP.

her phoney narrative:
Oh Gee, I was so confused and I didn't understand why they suspected Death Caps---but then Simon accused me of poisoning his parents and it made me do a lot of thinking---MAYBE death caps did somehow end up in the lunch?

Simon seemed to think I did poison them and what if I did put death caps in with the Chinese mushrooms? I had to rush home because CPS was involved...

In reality, I don't believe Simon accused her of poisoning her parents right then to her face. But he was probably thinking it and probably voiced his concerns to the appropriate channels.

I can't imagine where this ample woman, who appeared to be struggling to walk comfortably on the news videos, would be running into the bushes on the side of the busy highway to squat (?? could she really squat down and get up unaided?) and diarrhea?? The highway is lined with rough Australian bush, full of sharp sticks, prickle bushes and violently attacking ants, not where someone could even easily hide for an urgent diarrhea. Once closer to Tyabb, it is literally road with grass along the sides, nowhere to hide and poo. This sounds quite unbelievable to me. She also conveniently said she collected and disposed of the tissues used, so this cannot be corroborated. I can't imagine her poor son sitting in the car while this happened!! Then driving along with a bag full of diarrhea coated tissues in the car? Honestly she could have pre-purchased laxettes or something to take to make herself look unwell. Erin saying she had the runs means nothing as her tests were all clear.

It’s possible that the plates were thrown. If it were planned, wouldn’t you ensure every plate matched rather than her own plate being distinctly different?

There is a Kmart and and Aldi in Leongatha that both sell dinner sets and a range of plates. etc. If she wanted something nice, she would go to Henriettas in Leongatha which sells a wide range of crockery and affordable to expensive tableware and accessories. https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Rest...-Henriettas-Leongatha_Gippsland_Victoria.html

Woops, I don't know if this posted in the right spot!!

Woolworths have full eye fillet and individual steaks cut. Most country towns have at least one butcher too. Iam sure it was just convenient to buy everything at Woolies.

Do Woolworths still have the in-house butcher? I thought they got rid of this service some years ago.

What do you mean exactly by full eye fillet and individual steaks cut - do you mean they are cut to the customer specification?

I would imagine you are right that most country towns still have a local butcher. You can still find them in some Sydney suburbs as well. Unfortunately a lot of them have disappeared over the years (due to the modern convenience of packaged meats in supermarkets). There used to be at least one butcher in every suburban shopping strip.

I also think she wanted Simon to accompany her to the hospital so it appeared they had a supportive relationship….ie, I would never poison my family.
She was never going to let him go.

There are good butchers in Leongatha and Korumburra. I think she just didn't want to pay for the correct cut.

Ok, so Kmart and Henrietta’s so there wasn’t any reason not to buy a full set. I can see she shopped at Kmart, photographed in a $12 Kmart jumper twice in those early weeks of media harassment. I recognised it.

Aldi sell by catalogue, stock changes weekly.

I can't believe the absolute gall of Erin to, after Don mentions somebody he knows having throat cancer, respond with her own fake ovarian cancer spiel. It's just so vile, narcissistic and wrong to make someone else's health battle all about you, prompting her to share something that she knew was a lie. What a slap in the face to actual people going through cancer.
And what about Don's friend/brother with throat cancer? Then he had something else to suffer.

When she realised foraged mushrooms might have made it into the meal

Mr Mandy returns to the conversations with Ms Atkinson.
He says texts from her focussed “very squarely” on the meal’s ingredients.
“How did that make you feel?” he asks.
“Very anxious, yeah, very anxious,” she replies.
Erin says she was “scared” and didn’t tell her that the Woolies mushrooms were unlikely to be behind the illness.
She says she thought it was a “possibility” that the Asian grocer mushrooms were responsible.
By Tuesday evening, she says she started to think foraged mushrooms were in the meal too.
Help me understand this! She says so many conflicting things.

Earlier today, didn't she start by claiming that she OFTEN picked wild mushrooms, she LOVED to eat fresh wild mushrooms and she often dehydrated wild mushrooms to feed to her children. She said it was a normal thing she did, and had pictures they showed of her dehydrator and various mushrooms.

Yet later today, she says she was confused and did not understand how death caps could have ever been in the meal----and assumed it HAD to be from Woolworths or the Asian market.

NO MENTION FOR 4 OR 5 DAYS of her ever foraging. In fact, when first asked about it on day 2, SHE DENIED IT.

You're right, she is very intelligent. I know that still boggles peoples minds, because the way she has conducted herself in this alleged murder plot, seems to defy that. It even looks incredibly stupid from the outside.
But she is book smart, supremely logical, and methodical to a fault. The other side of her is histrionic, emotionally and socially immature, emotionally dysregulated, and grandiose. That is why we are seeing such duality, IMO.
It seems her sister was wise to stay clear of her.

We can't make sense of it, because it's nonsensical. We are in the warped mind of a pathological liar and gaslighter. IMO

I hope the prosecution can cut through all of her BS so that the jury isn't as overwhelmed as we all are from this discombobulation.

If you discover a lie in a set of accounts then you discredit everything else in those set of accounts. EP has admitted to lying more than once therefore everything else that comes out of her mouth should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

She has shown herself to be a pathological liar and the Jury should fully take that into account when listening to her version of events. JMO.

I am not sure why there is this perceived importance about having all matching plates for friends or relatives invited to a lunch or dinner meal. I would be mostly focused on the meal itself (but if I was doing the cooking and not my wife, it would be a barbeque due to my limited cooking ability) Maybe it is a Guy thing?

Of course Erin had her own reason for ensuring that her plate was unique.

Eye fillet is sold as a full piece, plus packets of cut fillets of 3 (approx) at Woolies in my area. No need to ask for assistance. My store has butchers available too.

Butchers are still present in country towns, especially where there isn’t a full sized Woolworths or Coles, although I can’t speak for every area. I feel for them but convenience trumps quality for many.

Patterson tells court 'I shouldn't have lied to' lunch guests about having ovarian cancer

Mandy shows Patterson a photo of the dining room table and chairs, marked up by Ian to show where each guest sat.

Patterson says there were no assigned seats or plates at the lunch.

Mandy asks Paterson what was discussed at the lunch.

She says they spoke about what her children had been up to and a bit of politics and. She says Don’s mentioned a relative of his who had throat cancer.

Paterson says the conversation stayed on this topic.

Patterson says she referred to “upcoming treatment”.

Mandy asks if she misled her guests.

“I did,” she says.

Patterson says they “all showed a lot of compassion about that.”

The guests then noticed Simon’s car pulling into the driveway and Ian suggested praying for Patterson.

“That’s what we did,” she says as her voice trembles.

Patterson says “I did lie to them.”

She explains her decision:
When did things shift from the whole premise of the meal and the lunch invitations being to discuss her (fabricated) health problems to the subject of ovarian cancer only arising at the lunch after Don started talking about his brother’s throat cancer?!?!

I think a smart jury will remember others said different things, and the jury may ask to see their testimony again.

Her entire story is opposite of the impression they have been already getting from doctors, child protection person, nurses, council worker, police officer, family.

I don't think anyone can forget the first part of the story (the prosecution case).

But, it only takes one person on that jury to dig their heels in and decide that it is reasonably probable that Erin acted the way she did.

Don't forget she put out a media release claiming they were from Woolworths and the Asian grocer 2 weeks after the lunch, too.

"In the statement, Ms Patterson said advice she received immediately after the deaths was to give a "no comment" interview to police, which she said she now regretted.

I now very much regret not answering some questions following this advice given the nightmare that this process has become," she said.

Ms Patterson said the mushrooms were a mixture of button mushrooms purchased at a major supermarket chain, and dried mushrooms bought at an Asian grocery store in Melbourne months previously.

Then, in November, during her police interview - 4 months after the lunch, she was still claiming she had never dehydrated any mushrooms, ever, and never owned a dehydrator.
