Garbage disposals never became popular in Australia.
I actually have never known anyone who has one.

One reason is that many people choose to compost organic products, and/or put them out with the green waste bin to be recycled.
Plus, they are incredibly dangerous. I don’t know anyone who’s had one in last 20 yrs.

She seems so cool & calm - it’s bordering on arrogance imo.
Absolutely!
If we for a moment assume true innocence, where is the remorse!! Even if unintended, she DID cause the deaths of these 3 beautiful people who she claims to have loved.

I wonder if she was ever actually baptised as this is an essential part of being a Christian . . . ? If SP is baptised and EP is not, perhaps theirs is not a true Christian marriage, only in Australian law?
Given the family is deeply religious, Don&Gail missionaries, Ian the Pastor, certain she would have needed baptism, confirmation, etc to marry Simon.

On a separate note, I've never understood foraging. If I loved wild-picking strawberries, but there was a 0.1% chance I'd land on a fatal version, I don't think I would.

And their mushrooms for God's sake, it's not like you're picking steak 🤣
💯

That's ^^^ big that she says she 'didn't know' if she went to Loch on the 28th. I fully expected her to deny deny deny that she was there that day.

It's so dumb that she keeps denying that the photo was death caps----their defense was it was ACCIDENTAL poisoning so why keep denying you had death caps in your kitchen?

WHY DENY THIS? Isn't this their defense? They are supposedly admitting she accidentally saved death caps so why does she keep lying about it still?
Accidentally served them because she didn’t know they were Death Caps - IMO

(Despite the fact she testified about all the studying she did about mushrooms - to make sure the ones the dog ate wouldn’t make it sick 🫢🙄

Use mine daily, for more than 45 years! Have never heard of ANY danger unless a favorite utensil gets mangled !!

Well she's spent all her time saying on the stand what wonderful people her in-llaws were, yet we've seen her online messages criticising them to her FB buddies.
People vent about loved ones too, I don’t read too much into it. She was obviously frustrated. If she worked, colleagues may have heard similar but she didn’t. Her life was the family until they separated for the last time and I still believe Simon has a part in this, he clearly played games.

Also most people I know don't have stinky bins.
They and I wash our bins regularly to keep them clean and smelling ok.

There are even mobile bin washing services that will come to your home.

Plus I think these days many people use a bin liner.
I always keep anything like leftover meat wrapped in newspaper in the freezer, it goes out with the weekly bin, so no leaving it out in the bin for days.

Our bins don't seem to attract any animals, they have a proper fitting lid and if you keep them from not smelling like most people seem to do there doesn't seem to be a problem.

I have not seen a mouse or a rat near any of the bins here ever.

Plus, they are incredibly dangerous. I don’t know anyone who’s had one in last 20 yrs.

In my experience in Sydney, they were a fad item from about 1965 to 1980 and came standard in many new houses built in that era. Seem to have fallen out of favour after then.

Given the family is deeply religious, Don&Gail missionaries, Ian the Pastor, certain she would have needed baptism, confirmation, etc to marry Simon.

Ian is a Baptist minister. Baptism usually is front and centre for believers, traditionally via full immersion. However, there are numerous versions of Baptists and their practices likely vary.

I’m just not sure about this. I am a Christian and married my husband when we were part of a baptist church community (as were/are the family being discussed). We were both baptised already and I don’t think baptist churches even do confirmation - that is more of a catholic or Anglican thing). I was never questioned by anyone as to whether I was baptised in order to get married. I think each unique church and family situation is different though so who knows.

Are you in Australia? There were issues where people would try to retrieve things, with horrid injuries.

I’ve just checked and they are not legal in most states but the water usage is the reason.

Even her vague answer of "I don't think I did" has to have it's own vague disclaimer of "I think my answer is.." Can't even be confident in her own wishy washy response.
IMO, this is absolutely deliberate.

I vaguely remember the mangled fingers and hands.

Just now
Justice Beale calls for a break

By Judd Boaz

Dr Rogers continues her questioning over the cancer, and Erin asks for a question to be clarified.

Justice Beale says its a good time for a break, and the jury heads out.
Justice Beale possibly couldn’t listen to it any longer (IMO) !

Replying to my own post:

“Dr Gerostamoulos said the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine tested meat, pastry and mushroom paste samples from beef Wellington located in Ms Patterson’s bin after the lunch.

In three of four mushroom paste samples no alpha-amanitin or beta-amanitin toxins were found, but in one sample they detected beta-amanitin.

Beta-amanitin toxins were also detected in one meat sample, he said.”

If Erin’s testimony is that she added the Asian grocery store bought “Chinese mushrooms” (her words) from a Tupperware container that also may have been mixed with her own foraged mushrooms, why were there no shiitake/porcini or other exotic mushrooms traces found in the leftovers along with the Woolworths field mushrooms? I mean what are the chances that she accidentally foraged death caps and bought death caps from the Asian grocery store?!

According to Mycologist, Dr Truong:
"The mushroom I identified is called a field mushroom ... this is the typical mushrooms that you find in a supermarket," Dr Truong said.
"That is the only mushroom that I found in this food item."

Dried mushrooms need a good soak to rehydrate too, not just a quick dash of water. They would have been as rubbery and chewy as old boots and even finely chopped easily identified in a forensic analysis.

Patterson said that as she was cooking the duxelles down, she tasted it a few times, but it tasted a bit bland, so she decided to add the mushrooms she had bought from the grocer in Melbourne to the mixture she still had in her pantry.

“I roughly poured water over them to get the crispness out of them. I chopped them up and sprinkled them over the duxelles and pushed them in,” she said.

I call complete BS on this tale, I believe she dehydrated and finely ground death caps, well ahead of the lunch, and sprinkled them over instead.

BBM

Is it because they only tested for alpha-amanitin and beta-amanitin toxins?

Yes, I remember. The were banned in 2013 in most states. I did wonder what happened to them.

US, have never heard of them illegal anywhere and truly rare to be in a home without one. I have expensive city water but the usage for disposals is minimal

Come to Australia! We have some of the world's deadliest fauna, but no bears, raccoons, wolves, coyotes, opossums, mountain lions, etc.

You might run into one of our deadlier residents, but your garbage will be safe.

MOO
Steve Irwin taught me about the snakes!! Eeks

Today under cross examination:
Did you tell people at the lunch you had cancer?” the prosecution asked.

“I did not,” Ms Patterson replied.

Erin’s own evidence yesterday:
Not proud of this, but I led them to believe I might be needing some treatment … in regards to [ovarian cancer] in the coming weeks and months,” she said

“I remember thinking I didn’t want to tell anybody what I had done (gastric bypass), I was really embarrassed about it, so I thought letting them believe I had something that required serious treatment … [would] help me with logistics around the kids, and I wouldn’t have to tell them.”

Which version would you like the jury to believe Erin? 🙄🙄🙄
What ? She’d had the Gastric Bypass - when ?

I thought we only heard that she was ‘ thinking about / planning to have ‘ Gastric Bypass.

Surely the prosecution has her medical records … then again she’ll probably say she saw a different Doctor ( can she be forced to divulge who she saw ?)
