I don’t

I have two. An iPhone and an ipad, oh, and an Apple Watch.

But it’s irrelevant what we have. We aren’t accused of murdering people, factory resetting phones while in police custody, being compulsive liars and being so grandiose and obnoxious to tamper with evidence in a homicide investigation 🤣🙄

In my opinion, the way the accused just uses and deceives people: Simon, the children and Simon’s family, for her own ends is truly sickening.

I doubt she is capable of genuine relationships.
It appears that everything she does is calculated as a way to use, control or punish people.

The most saddening aspect of this case, to me, is the fact that she targeted a family of people that were seemingly always kind, gracious and compassionate toward her, even as they ate what was possibly their last meal, they were praying for her.

Things we learned today

Both the defence and the prosecution had an opportunity to question accused killer Erin Patterson today.

Much of the day's questioning featured crown prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC suggesting propositions to Erin, which were then emphatically denied.

Here's what we learned today from her testimony:

Erin confirmed she lied about her dehydrator and history of foraging to police. She described her lying to police as a "stupid, kneejerk reaction", saying she was scared but that she shouldn't have done it

Photos were shown to the court of what appeared to be Erin's kitchen, which Erin said she had no memory of taking. Erin denied that photos that appeared to be of mushrooms sitting on her kitchen bench were death cap mushrooms. This conflicts with mycologist Tom May's evidence that the appearance was consistent with death caps.

Erin confirmed she had foraged for wild mushrooms in the months before the July 29 lunch.

Erin conceded that it was "probably true" that she knew she would become a suspect if she told police the truth about her dehydrating of mushrooms.

Erin denied she had told her Facebook friends she was an atheist, denied she was very close to Christine Hunt, a previous witness, and denied she had used emojis to mock the Pattersons praying for her.

Erin denied she told her lunch guests that she had cancer, a contradiction to testimony given by Ian Wilkinson and Simon Patterson

We also learned that the trial may extend even longer than planned, with Justice Beale telling the jury there was a possibility that more evidence could be presented.

At that point, Justice Beale suggests the court hearing adjourn for the day.

Erin Patterson's cross-examination will continue tomorrow.

Her stupid knee jerk reactions carries on for over 6 months. I thought knee jerk reactions were supposed to be short lived and immediately reactive. IMO

Do you have a link for that?

Apparently she has special knees that jerk uncontrollably for long periods.

Absolutely horrendous. The way Erin throws Simon under the bus and states she was scared of him, gladly shares information about the children’s medical history and troubles at school, had no consideration for her sick relatives in hospital - beyond belief

Well, she called them liars for saying she said she was diagnosed with cancer.

But then she admits that she 'communicated' to them that she was being investigated for cancer and then may be having treatments for it in the future.

So she goes on to bizarrely imply that she was embarrassed about her plans to have bariatric surgery so she planned to pretend it was cancer treatment so she could get help with childcare etc in the future.

She was planning to pretend to have Ovarian cancer so she could get her stomach stapled? Was she going to shave her head too?
This is where her reasoning can be quite easily discounted.

She admits to lying to try and make herself look better before, so how can anybody trust she isn't doing the same now? It is entirely in line with her previous actions that she could have concocted the whole thing to make her actions appear more rational. This is where her lies are her undoing.

One slight inconsistency I haven't heard anyone mention is that she had a huge problem with binge eating etc, but only claimed to finish 1/3rd of her Beef Wellington? One thing all partied agreed was that the food was very nice, and by her own admission she has the ability to finish a large portion, so why didn't she? She has never implied that she saved it for later or anything.

The dehydrator has a fan for circulating air and extracting the moisture. Cleaning the oven cavity wasn’t enough, tiny bits (spores?) get airborne and deposit in or behind the fan.

It was Simon’s beef Wellington in a poo bag dumped in sanitary bin at petrol station. (I do hope she gets asked if she washed her hands for a few of the 9 seconds at petrol station toilet after the diarrhea in bush and cleaning up with tissues… before touching food items for her child)

Mushroom Daily podcast isn't out yet, but I'm looking forward to hearing how well Erin did on the stand today. 🙄

Very Enid Blyton
Yes, and you would also be carrying a basket of individual beef wellingtons (glorified cornish pasties) some fruit cake, and a bottle of ginger beer!

I’m skeptical that she has an ED. In fact, I know she disparaged and mocked someone close to her for having an ED.

Most bulimics aren’t morbidly obese, for one.

Have you noticed that podcast seems to take her word as gospel?

I think it was partly a manipulative tactic. The defence know that the prosecution can hardly come out and call her a liar about it. They'll have to tread very carefully around it.

If I were to sit down to a meal with EP, I would do the same thing as if I were at a meal with Putin: swap plates with mine when they were not looking.
Hence the different coloured plate; she's one step ahead of you.

After a short break, jurors were given an update on the trial, now in its sixth week, by trial judge Justice Christopher Beale.

The judge said it was likely Ms Patterson would remain in the witness box until at least the end of the week and following that, there would need to be a break for legal discussions.

“Those discussions may take a couple of days,” he said.

Justice Beale said there was a “possibility” there may be more evidence called in the trial before closing addresses from the prosecution and defence.

“Each of those could take a couple of days which would see out that week,” he said.

Jurors would then be given directions, he said, before they were sent off to deliberate.

“So my final directions to you could take a couple of days, then the boot is on the other foot because none of you can tell me how long deliberations will take,” Justice Beale said.

--> Interesting. Have wonder what more evidence may be called, and from which side. I wonder if there may be witness re-calls to cover stuff that she has denied telling people. [bbm]

There is definitely a bias from the female presenter.

For her this is about how accused women are treated so she is viewing it through that prism. She might not realise it but she wants to believe her.

It is like another version of OJ. If Erin is innocent, it will be a victory for women regardless of the actual facts of the case.

Yes but she doesn’t care who she throws under the bus. Genuine ED sufferers, Cancer sufferers, her deceased parents, her children’s characters and honesty, child protection professionals, her “friends”, Simon, the Wilkinsons, police, doctors….
