Dr Rogers suggests that when he had not attended, Erin had thrown the extra Wellington in the bin.

Erin says she did throw mushroom and pastry in the bin,

why throw it in the bin, when she happily served (other?!) leftovers to the kids....

Why not throw out stinky mushrooms?

Erin denies preparing a 'poisoned beef wellington' to feed to Simon

Dr Rogers then puts a series of questions to Erin about Simon’s invite.
“I suggest that you wanted him to come to the lunch so that you could feed him part of the poisoned beef wellington meal?” Dr Rogers asks.
“That’s not true,” she replies.
“I suggest that you prepared a poisoned beef wellington for him, just in case he turned up at midday or shortly after midday on Saturday, 29 July,” Dr Rogers says.
“No, that’s not true,” Erin replies.
“And when he didn’t show up for lunch at some stage you threw it in your rubbish bin,” Dr Rogers says.
“I did put the pastry and mushrooms in the rubbish bin,” Erin replies.
Dr Rogers says Simon gave evidence that it was “rare” for Erin to invite people to her home.
“I didn’t do it often, no, but I did it sometimes,” she says.

Why not throw out stinky mushroom?
Yes, this! Throwing out an untouched serving of Beef Wellington that she "spent a fortune" on YET making sure she uses up the unlabelled mushrooms she bought at a mysterious 'Asian shop' hmmm

So the Beef Wellington meal was on Saturday, patients hospitalised Sunday, Erin presented to hospital on Monday only to leave immediately to attend to her animals? What did she dispose of during that time and where?

I think she was still attached to him in some ways. She did not like living with him, but she liked having a partner and a father for the kids. But from a distance.

When her fence was hit by a tree she called him and expected him to immediately come do the grunt work for her. She liked to include him in some of her vacations with the kids.

She expected to be personally invited to all of his family's functions. That is not normal in most 7 year separations, imo. She was outraged and snippy when overlooked and uninvited by his family.

What if he wanted to date someone and move on?

I don't know if she was still attached to him, but more that he was a crutch for her to lean back on maybe?

Prosecution asks why Erin did not tell authorities about possible death cap poisoning

By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers then goes to a conversation that took place between Erin and Simon in a hospital on the Tuesday after the lunch.

Erin has previously said Simon confronted her and asked her if she'd used the dehydrator to poison his parents. Simon denies he said that.

In evidence earlier this week, Erin said that after the conversation, "it got me thinking about all the times that I'd used it [the dehydrator]".

"And how I had dried foraged mushrooms in it weeks earlier. And I was starting to think, what if they'd gone in the container with the Chinese mushrooms," Erin said.

Dr Rogers recounts Erin then told the court she became "scared" and started to worry that authorities would think it was "intentional".

"You agree that you told police in your record of interview that you loved Don and Gail?" Dr Rogers asks.

"Correct," Erin says.

"Surely if you loved them .. You would have immediately notified the medical authorities that there was a possibility that the foraged mushrooms" had ended up in the meal, Dr Rogers says.

"Well I didn't," Erin says. "I had been told that ... people were getting treatment for possible death cap mushroom poisoning. So that was already happening."

Dr Rogers notes that this was days before anyone had died, but Erin didn't tell "a single person" that foraged mushrooms may be in the meal.

"Correct," Erin says.

Instead, on the Wednesday, Erin got up, drove the kids to school then came home.

"Then you got rid of the dehydrator," Dr Rogers says.

Erin confirms that's what happened.
And there it is. Selfish and total lack of empathy. Erin Erin Erin.

Erin you’re disagreeable

Erin: I disagree

If she has a different story to tell, I'm not sure that's unfair is it?

Its only someone's word against someone else's.
If she is lying again, then it is unfair.

It's 'her word' [which is not worth much it seems]. against the surviving victim of her prepared meal.

He has lost his wife and his health and his mental peace, because of her actions. Accidental or not, she was negligent at the very least.

So for her to publicly call him deceptive when she has been repeatedly deceptive and misleading, is very unfair, imo.

Erin denies sending inflammatory messages to group chat

By Joseph Dunstan and Judd Boaz

Dr Rogers continues to ask Erin Patterson about her relationship with her in-laws Don and Gail Patterson.

"They did love me and I did love them," Erin says.

"I do love them."

Dr Rogers notes Simon had referred to "tension" in October 2022 between Erin and her parents-in-law.

Erin agrees that's what Simon said. Dr Rogers asks her if that was true.

"From my point of view I wasn't aware of any tension ... in that October period, or September, yeah," she says.

In December, Erin notes there was some tension, which was evident in the Signal messages where "clearly I was frustrated".

During his testimony, Simon said Erin sent inflammatory messages to the family group chat accusing him of things, and that he was worried what effect the messages would have on his mother.

Dr Rogers asks if Erin sent these "extremely aggressive" messages to the Signal group in 2022.

"I don't think I sent, from my perspective I'm not aware that there were any extremely aggressive or inflammatory message, no," she says.

They have a number of pictures that were recovered off her devices and they're all mushrooms. It's another situation where it looks unlikely that her version tallies with reality.

If she was so interested in experimenting with dehydrating then why only take pictures of mushrooms?
And they found 7 tidbits when they took the machine apart, and they were all mushrooms, IIUC.

No banana or orange remnants.

Thanks for posting this link re Erin and Simon taking over the community newspaper from Simon's parents. I've been trying to find it. I remember in early reporting that it was mentioned that Erin or Simon posted something about mushroom foraging in the community paper. 🍄 🍄

Erin says Katrina Cripps is wrong for a second time

By Joseph Dunstan and Judd Boaz

Dr Rogers then moves to evidence from child protection worker Katrina Cripps, who said that after the lunch, Erin had told her she'd had a good relationship with her in-laws "until recently".

Ms Cripps told the court that Erin recounted to her feeling isolated since the relationship with Simon had deteriorated.

"I did become concerned about that, yes" Ms Patterson says.

"Did you tell Ms Cripps that you were not invited to the family events that you would normally attend?" Dr Rogers asks.

Ms Patterson says she thinks she would have phrased it more along the lines of being concerned she was not being invited to events.

"There was only one that I know I wasn't invited to," Erin says.

She says she had thought there was another event "but I was wrong about that".

Erin wants to clarify that it's possible she said what Ms Cripps had remembered her saying.

"My memory is also fallible. So I don't remember saying that so I think that she's wrong," Erin says.

Dr Rogers asks Erin if Ms Cripps was wrong, and after a pause Erin says yes.

Yesterday, Erin also told the court that parts of Ms Cripps' testimony was incorrect.
