Maybe I’ve missed it in previous recaps, but I really want the prosecution to hammer home how negligent she is as a mother, considering how she considers herself so much better than Simon.

I would ask her if she now sees that her behaviour was negligent? Why did she feed her children leftovers that made others/her unwell? Why did she make her son go to a flying lesson when they both seemed to be unwell? Does she agree her children surviving was simply fluke? I’d ask her if being scared of being in trouble with the authorities was more scary than the risk to her children’s lives? I’d ask her if she thought, even if she is found not guilty, that Simon deserves primary custody, and child protection needs to monitor her supervision of her children considering how she put them in harm’s way AND tried to prevent them getting adequate medical treatment? If not, I’d ask her why she doesn’t feel more remorseful that she could’ve killed her children?

Poor kids. EP throwing particularly the son under the bus today. Making him out to be misremembering at best and lying at worst. (To be clear, neither of those things are good in the long run.) He and his sister are innocent in all this. They'll be affected by this their whole lives I'm guessing. I don't doubt she loves her kids. But if she is guilty why would she even contemplate ending the lives of relatives her kids seemed to have a great relationship with?
I hope that Simon gets some counselling for the kids. They're going to need it... 😔

I struggle with understanding this also- the children had no other family except for Simon's. The defence showed what seemed like a genuinely good relationship with her son and grandad- the tutoring, the video of them working on a science project together. And I also think she cares deeply for her children.

We can only speculate from the very little information we have in this trial- but like others have said here, EP strikes me as a very vengeful person. She seemingly has been wronged by everyone- her parents, her sister, Simon, Simon's parents. She was SO angry by the Patterson's unwillingness to engage in their dispute, angered by Gail's birthday, their devotion to Christianity.... angered by just about everything. She seemed so hostile, resentful. When Erin said 'they loved me' outside her home during the media scrum, my initial response was, how did you show them love? By sending an elderly couple a barrage of inappropriate messages, which caused them stress and anxiety?
Of course, this is all my opinion only- but I feel like her desire for revenge has superseded any thoughts about her children's grandparents.

SMH reporter Tony Wright describes Erin's demeanour while being cross examined as "deadpan".

He says she gives the briefest of answers ... non-expansive with her answers. She calmly disagrees with the prosecutor's suggestions.

Her manner comes across as someone who could be discussing the turn of the seasons.

He says reporters are jammed into the viewing room in Morwell and the viewing room at the Supreme Court in Melbourne. Many reporters are staying in the Morwell area hoping they get into the courtroom through the daily ballot. Everyone is watching for some indication, some tell, in Erin's demeanour.

I am not sure who is lying in this case (if she actually did the bush 💩or not), but her version is to give a reason she went into the petrol station toilet for 9 seconds, to throw out the tissues...
I suspect this is an after the fact attempt to explain the 9 second toilet visit.

The problem with it is that it looks very implausible that she wouldn't wash her hands thoroughly after something as gross as that.

So it begs the question of what else she might have put in the bin in those 9 seconds.

Looks dead behind the eyes to me.

I think the DFFH (child protection) would still be ensuring the kids and their parents or carer had wrap around support imo.

sorry! i don't mean to offend at all! But I've seen quite a few social media videos of Americans using paper plates to serve regular meals and that's how I learned that Americans regularly use paper plates at home. Its just not a thing here, not like that
I’m American and no one in my family or friend group uses paper plates regularly. We may use them for an outside bbq on occasion. We love nice dishes too. 🌺🌸🌼

I’m curious to hear others thoughts about why Erin asked Simon to drive her to the hospital on the Monday morning.
(Simon has testified that she told him she was worried she’d poo herself, which she now predictably refutes).

She had already driven her children to their bus stop (I don’t know where) and drove back home without incident. The hospital is reportedly only about 10 minutes from her Leongatha home, so why did she want Simon’s help?

A few ideas:

  • Her usual controlling behaviour.
  • An opportunity to gain information from Simon about the condition of the other guests.
  • A chance to find out if any relatives had shared her fake cancer news.
  • An opportunity to find out if any of the guests or doctors had raised questions/expressed suspicions about the lunch.
  • An opportunity to tell Simon any preliminary lies about the lunch that might support her narrative.
  • A chance to show Simon how unwell she was and elicit sympathy.
  • Testing if Simon would prioritize her demands over his own family’s needs.
  • A belief that Simon might support her if the doctors asked any uncomfortable questions about the lunch.
  • An opportunity to offer Simon a tasty morsel of leftovers….

And then miraculously, after getting herself safely to hospital, she changed her mind about needing saline and insisted that she must dash back home to pack her daughter’s ballet bag…..amongst other things 😐

I'd say EP has poisoned the children's relationship with food. If you can't trust your reality at home, where can you trust it?

Ms Patterson arrived in court wearing a white blouse and black trousers. After giving some pieces of evidence, she didn't appear to notice that her pants had burst into flames.

Prosecutor Nanette Rodgers asked whether the defendent was aware that her pants were on fire.

"Define what you mean by on fire," replied Ms Patterson.

My teens would have ABSOLUTELY noticed if I ever did that. They'd never let me live it down. lol How does a teen boy not notice if the driver of the car, his mom, runs into the bush to poop.
I think Erin is under the impression, that is she tells an embarrassing story then it will some how make it more believable.

So far, she has contradicted everyone's testimony, including her own.

Does Erin seriously think that the Jury is going to believe her & that all these professions are liars??

She's delusional IMO
Well, live and learn. I had absolutely no idea prior to this trial that the entire population of the state of Victoria are liars.

Urghhhh this is getting ridiculous.

Erin Patterson tells court she doesn't remember visiting the iNaturalist webite

By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers summarises Ms Patterson's evidence from last week about whether a visit to the iNaturalist site on May 28, 2022 was the "first time" she had visited the site.

"I don't remember ever visiting iNaturalist," Ms Patterson says.

"I suggest you were familiar with the iNaturalist website before this date, because you entered iNaturalist as the specific search term. Agree or disagree?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I would have to disagree," Ms Patterson says.

"Did you have an interest in death cap mushrooms on 28 May, 2022?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I have no idea," Ms Patterson says. "My only interest ever was to find out if they [were] in South Gippsland or not."

When asked if it was her who navigated the page that day, Ms Patterson replied: "Well somebody did. And that somebody could've been me."
BBM. Having served on juries before (not in Australia), IMO jurors are tired at this point. And comments like this are not going to go over well with them.

'Disagreeing' with someone's testimony .... is not saying that that person was lying.
Not "someone", everyone.

Typical narcissist behaviour: Everyone is out to get her.

I agree. Nothing seems reasonable to me.

so she doesn't have a matching set, but only "may be that everyone had different plates" why so wishy washy ...
And I guess her son was lying about the set of white plates used for the dessert?
