Her illness doesn’t ring true to me. It was all an act to cover her bases. Look at how much pain the others were in that first night and they literally lived in the bathroom.

IMO

She evidently felt well enough for coffee in the morning. I can't imagine her stomach was queasy if she was drinking coffee.

On the morning of the lethal lunch, she recalls Erin making a coffee in the kitchen.
She says she remembers seeing meat in the oven.

You may also want to skip that morning cup of coffee, which can upset your stomach and dehydrate you.

Here’s five things the jury heard on day eight of Erin Patterson’s murder trial

1. Erin “didn’t look unwell” compared with two of her seriously ill lunch guests on 31 July – two days after the lunch – when she was assessed at Leongatha hospital, according to a nurse who testified on Thursday.

2. While the nurse, Cindy Munro, was trying to insert a cannula to provide treatment to Erin due to suspected mushroom poisoning, she said she “didn’t want any of this,” the court heard.

3. Erin told a toxicologist registrar the mushrooms used in the beef wellington dish were bought from Safeway in Leongatha and a Chinese food store in Oakleigh. The registrar at the time, Dr Conor McDermott, said Erin told him she no longer had the mushroom packaging. Under cross-examination, McDermott agreed Erin had told him the dried mushrooms had been purchased from an Asian grocer in Oakleigh or Glen Waverley.

4. Erin appeared “fairly calm and nonchalant” during the ambulance journey from Leongatha hospital to Monash medical centre two days after the lunch, according to a paramedic who gave evidence.

5. Erin’s daughter, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she and her brother ate leftovers from the lunch the following day. She described eating “some of the steak they had” alongside mashed potatoes and beans.

Is there a source for this? I haven’t seen that reported anywhere

Perhaps just a rumour. I haven't seen it anywhere either that Erin liked her Panadeine Forte or was a prior regular user of opiates.

Can't find it on a Google search either.

Does Erin claim the steak came from the individual pies that she fed the children?

Because I can’t imagine there was much left over to feed two young children the following day. So unless Erin Basically didn’t eat her’s due to nervousness then I don’t see how she could make a lunch from it for 3 the next day.

MOO

Maybe she bought two or more pieces of beef. Looking at a recipe for individual beef wellingtons, they say 6-8oz (170-220 g) of beef per.

Yep or she made a few extra safe pies to be on the safe side. But I am guessing that would have involved a lot of extra work.

ETA- It’s crazy she didn’t think her plan though, as scrapping off the “mushrooms” wouldn’t have stopped her children getting sick if she had really given them what her guests ate the previous day.

Was what the kids were served actually Beef Wellingtons, or just some plain steak along with potatoes and beans?

BBM : Why was Erin emailing other family members to take the children, why not Simon the father?!
I think EP said Child Services had become involved. Maybe the social workers didn't want the children with any of the immediate family until the potential poisonings were sorted out ?

I wonder how long since she has seen her children? Seeing her daughter on a recording was understandably very emotional for her.

Originally, I believe we were told she scrapped off the mushrooms from the beef wellington and the kids ate the leftovers, but now, like you, I'm thinking, they were just served left-over steak

Yes, that is what I was thinking too.

She may have asked Simon's siblings to take the children, but that doesn't mean that Children's Services would have gone for that if Simon wanted them with him.

Do you think that maybe Simon has a new partner and Erin doesn't want the kids near a new partner? I keep wondering if this is the seat of Erin's problems with everyone. Someone (that we will likely never hear about) "replacing her" in the family's affections.

“Dr McDermott then did a Google search of Asian supermarkets in the Oakleigh area, reading out the names of the stores to Ms Patterson in an attempt to refresh her memory.

However, Ms Patterson indicated it was not going to assist her in identifying the store, the court heard.”

So, Erin straight out lied to the toxicology registrar who was diligently trying to save the lives of her relatives and prevent a public health crisis.

She knows that she foraged those death cap mushrooms and instead of trying to help her desperately sick relatives, she serves out these lies to a doctor who is trying to save them.

To me this shows intent to cause harm to the lunch guests. She had an opportunity to be helpful and still chose to lie.
This really makes me mad. Health care workers are stretched soooo thin already, than you have someone like Erin making more work & all of it's a lie, mean while other patients that need care are not getting it................

Once again, I hope none of this type of behaviour by her is being lost on the jury.

I don't think it would be IMO

I am thinking she either has death cap mushroom immunity (in which case they could trial test her for an antidote) or she is a murderer.

Not only does she have death cap toxin immunity, but the toxin cured her from her super rare condition; ovarian cancer of the elbow. It's truly remarkable.

Why did Erin invite Ian and Heather to lunch?

According to Ian’s testimony: He and his wife had never been to her house for a meal before.

We know she’s on trial for murder of Heather and attempted murder of Ian: What would be her motive for killing them?

I don't think we're ever going to find out unfortunately. She's sticking to her innocent accident story.
She's not playing the mental health card, but one has to wonder.

Aside: Strikes me as a very odd question. I'm surprised that it was raised in a note to the judge. I gather that they were told why this particular Monday was a day off.
I’m not trying to criticise a hard working jury, but seems a little cheeky to write that note?

It’s Australia known for their banter. IMO
