Am I remembering correctly that the prosecution said there were traces of Death Caps found on the dehydrator ?
Yes, that’s correct.

I don't think we're just assuming that Erin dried mushrooms and put them in brownies for her kids. She wrote this in one of the Facebook groups or group chats. They way she wrote it she almost sounded giddy that it worked and her kids were clueless.
A clever way to feign innocence IMO

Yes, that’s correct.
Good. So this 'shocking revelation' that Dr Truong didn't find any toxins in the leftovers is really a nothing-burger. IMO

Ian Wilkinson said both he and Heather "ate the entire meal", while Don ate his meal along with half of the beef wellington that Gail did not finish.

So there would only be half of what's left of Gail's lunch that Erin got rid of, and that was most likely disposed of in another way, ahead of, before the leftovers that Erin and the kids had, which are the leftovers that were examined
I feel the bold statement can be read 2 ways.

You could say that Gail ate half of her beef wellington and Don ate the other half that was left.
OR
You could say that Gail ate half of her beef wellington and Don ate half of the remaining portion, which would equal 1/4 of the entire beef wellington, leaving a 1/4 left over.

My money is on the first one.

In Qld you can buy indiv BW from some ButcherS
What do they look like? A slice of a traditional beef wellington, or an enclosed pie/pastie type thing?

I think they expected to find it & didn't which leaves the question of why , 3 people are dead, I nearly dead & traces of Death Cap on the dehydrator & 3 people are healthy & the dog.

As has been explained. Gail ate half of one beef wellington. Don ate his own beef wellington, plus the leftover half from Gail.
There were no leftovers of Gail's meal because Don ate them.

Erin was keen to volunteer information to the police of where to find leftovers from the untainted beef wellington(s) from herself/the kids. Knowing that they were clean, as such. Those clean serves had only woolworths mushrooms.

I'm remembering that too, but don't have a source.

I think I heard it from the prosecution during opening Statements---which is not considered evidence, per se. So hopefully they will put the forensics team that tested the dehydrator up soon.

Im curious about the actual meal...
So the plan was for five guests + erin to eat lunch. The evening before, Simon changes his mind and decides not to attend.
Ian Wilkinson said that each plate had a beef wellington, which he said looked like a pastie - a pastry case fully enclosing steak and mushrooms. I think its safe to assume that she had to pre-make these (and said she had in her own messages to Simon) so what happened to the additional one that she would have prepared for Simon? She was expecting five guests but only four actually turned up on the day...

I'm wondering whether she cooked the meat on a pan the morning of the lunch (from her child's testimony) and then assembled them just before the lunch??

Tip manager gives evidence

By Judd Boaz

Darren Canty is the operations manager for waste management specialist Dasma Group.

The Dasma Group operates the Koonwarra Transfer Station And Landfill where a dehydrator was found.

He tells the court he was contacted by police regarding the tip, and made a copy of CCTV footage which showed a woman arriving in a red 4WD.

Footage is then played to the court, showing a red car pulling into a large gravel carpark next to a shed.

A person gets out and opens the boot, and going towards the green shed. The person comes back, shuts the boot.

Mr Canty confirms this is the footage he copied and sent.

a bit like a pillow I'd say
The same can be said about steak and kidney pie. Can be one big pie, or individual smaller pies. I've seen individual Beef Wellingtons and a longer one.

I assume that the one meant for Simon also had Death Caps in the paste. I bet she got rid of it along with any leftover scraps, right after lunch. Maybe down the toilet?

Court sees images from tip

By Kristian Silva

Two more still images are now shown to the court from another angle.

These are a bit more zoomed in and from overhead, showing Ms Patterson’s red car at the tip.

Just now

More still images from landfill CCTV

By Kristian Silva

We're taken back to the CCTV footage, and some still images that have been picked out of it.

Mr Canty says Ms Patterson's car can be seen stopped outside a storage shed, which contains an e-waste bin, a bin for mattresses, batteries and other miscellaneous items.

The following still image shows a woman carrying an item into the shed.

Another photo is shown to the court of the black SUnbeam dehydrator in the e-waste bin at the tip

Google is your friend...

A lot of restaurants also serve single portion beef wellington. The traditional style brings with it cost risk. If one is a failure, the whole lot is cost. Also, the end slices of the traditional style are discarded in a restaurant, which is also waste cost. Also, for freshness, a traditional one may get a couple of slices off it for one sitting, and not any more orders until later on. Thats not ideal. Single serves are an individual customer experience, fresh, and without the waste and risk.

Different leftovers seem to have been examined. Not the ones that were served for lunch ..

Her son said when questioned about the leftovers,

"It was a block, and I cut it up into cubes and ate it," he says.

He says the meat did not have anything on it. He explains his mother told him it was leftovers, and there was no gravy with it.

Her daughter said .. She also described eating the leftovers, saying there was no gravy or other ingredients other than steak, mashed potatoes, and beans.

But A photo is shown to the court today, which is the same photo emailed to Dr Truong on July 31.

It shows a picture of the beef Wellington PASTRY and some of the finely-chopped brown filling.

It sounds like Erin has made two separate beef wellington dishes. The safe one was thrown into the bin, knowing and ready for the police to take it away to examine

As this wasn't the leftovers Erin and her kids had eaten

Police trace card transaction to landfill

By Judd Boaz

Mr Canty says police contacted him on August 4 with details of an EFTPOS transaction linked to the Koonwarra Transfer Station and Landfill at a certain time and date.

A printout of the EFTPOS transaction is shown to the court.

Mr Canty says he then matched the transaction against their own records.

The transaction shows that the item deposited was under the category of less than 40 litres of e-waste.

I assume that the police would have tested the dehydrator to see if it was working? And if it was ,than why throw it away ?? I wonder what Erin told them?
