Patterson granted a chance at parole

Just repeating, Erin Patterson has been sentenced to
life in prison for murdering Don and Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson.
She's been given a 25-year sentence for Ian Wilkinson's attempted murder.
The sentences will all be served at the same time.
Justice Christoper Beale has given her a
non-parole period of 33 years.
This means she will be 81 years old when she is eligible to apply.

Countdown for appeal begins

While Erin Patterson has been sentenced to spend the next 33 years behind bars, she maintains her innocence.
Patterson has not formally lodged an appeal, however her legal team has 28 days after the sentence to file the initial paperwork.
It means Patterson now has until Monday, October 6, to make a decision on appeal.

Mushroom lunch survivor speaks outside court

Standing on the steps of the Supreme Court, Ian Wilkinson says he wants to thank the police, particularly the Homicide Squad and Detective Stephen Eppinstall.
"They made a professional, efficient and effective investigation into what happened at the lunch," he says.
"They brought to light the truth of what happened with the death of three good people."
