Yes, it seems EP has always wanted to be in control, and when she perceives that control is slipping, she immediately tries to assert her authority and have people see things "her way".

I would certainly hope that Simon, as their guardian would disallow the children visiting her. After all, she hid mushrooms in their food too! They may never trust anyone to prepare their food ever again.

It is a horrible situation. On one hand, there is no evidence that EP was a bad mom. So it is only understandable if the kids would want to visit her.

On the other hand, it is a huge stress, to visit one's mom in jail.

Sorry, killing three close relatives to me puts Erin into an "emotionally dumb" category. But I believe that if she loved anyone, ever, these were her kids. She might never feel emotionally what it is, to kill innocent people. But her children's plight she should feel.

100% agree! For someone with Erin’s personality defects IMO no one is completely safe around her. How precious would her kids be to her once they started rebelling as kids often do? What would happen if she could no longer turn them against their father?

JMO a “good” mother would never encourage her kids to believe their dad didn’t have their best interests. Let them decide on their own as they grow and mature. I saw nothing other than Erin denigrating Simon, to her friends and to her kids. And look what happened when she couldn’t get her in-laws on board against him.

Causing untold endless trauma and damage on her children in possibly the worst possible way a mother can.
Making her children the target of bullying and social scorn.
Trying to kill their loving father.
Using the children as pawns to manipulate Simon.
