Can only hold someone for a certain time if no charges are laid.

IMO playing out exactly how police what it to.
He is interviewed by journos, what he says and what police know doesn't line up, so get him in for more questioning.

Release him. He knows the police are watching him. The media are watching him. The town is watching him. If he has any unfinished business that won't be happening.

If they are getting close, I think we can expect to read about JW in the news shortly given his text messages with his friend where he insinuates they will unalive themselves before they can be sent to jail.

I really hope this isn't the case before she can be found.

Even still. After saying that he gave PB his tracksuit bottoms to wear, given the size discrepancy. Amongst other things he has said. I just can’t fathom it. Rings huge alarm bells for me.

Didn’t think he would be released after getting arrested.

Police can only hold someone for up to 8 hours, with an extention from a magistrate to 12 hours. Even for murder, if you aren't charged after 12 hours, you have to be released. Because there is not enough evidence to charge you. Not enough evidence!!! That, I think says it all. No Pheobe and not enough evidence to charge JW.

Yes, when he was arrested, I did not think he would get released, especially after the mail interview. Know they need evidence, but Jesus.

I don’t really know what to make of the interview. It’s certainly hard to believe a lot of it, but I also suspect that there’s truth mixed in there as well.

A couple of observations: assuming the interview is more-or-less verbatim, he constantly refers to her in the present tense.

He says she smashed “the TV” presumably the main/only. IMHO you’d have to have the patience of a saint not to completely lose your temper at your teenage housemate smashing your TV up hours before going on holiday.

If the same girl has then argued & complained constantly while you’ve been driving her to the airport for 40 minutes, you don’t stop for 5 mins 1k from the airport. You carry on for one more minute and kick her out at the airport. Especially if one reason she’s complaining is because she’s worried about being late.

The track pants thing is clearly ridiculous, but also a weird thing to make up.

What the boyfriend heard is also frustratingly inconsistent. My feeling is he just heard muffled voices as originally reported and after all this media coverage the arguing is something of a false memory. Either way, I still think the call was made from the perps after whatever happened happened to lay a false trail. Or she was near the airport when she was attacked (the 5 minute break), she tried calling for help but they got to it before she could speak.

Where I think he caught himself clearly lying was saying Pheobe was not packed yet.

We know she texted her friend a few days prior saying she was packing.

If we assume she really DID have a huge duffel bag--and remember Pheobe had also told people she was hoping NOT to return, so a bag with everything important to her makes a lot of sense--it would have been fully packed. I bet she put everything she owned inside it.

I think she probably did flip out and something happened in the house--i.e she hit the tv but was probably thrown into it. (Head injury.) Edited: And this new detail about missing money? Again, could it be partially true? WTH is going on with them living in such a dump and having that kind of cash laying around?

They may have even left her alone to try and cover brusing etc with makeup. Weird as it sounds that could be true. Maybe the two left to talk privately, to try and figure out what to do and when they returned Pheobe really was gone? IF Pheobe had a head injury she could have taken her bag, left and gone off.

Did the flatmates then kill her? Did she die? Or did someone else pick her up? Or is she out there somewhere with amnesia or something equally unbelievable? I know the last sounds totally bizarre, but it HAS happened.

All of this. Everything here sounds right to me.
