Overall, I definitely lean towards this being all in the family so to speak. The three daughters all seem bright enough to realise that if you hire a professional, there's no reason that you won't have to keep that professional on retainer for life.
All snarkiness aside, I still tend towards this being at least in part an accident.
I also doubt that family members have the sort of direct networks to find or hire a pro, despite the possibilities that a couple of the sibs (and perhaps their kids, exes, or co-workers) have had contact with people having colorful histories. And if so, I suspect that paranoia would discourage her. Just speaking hypothetically, of course, but I'd guess that an 'in-house' solution would be pursued first and possibly exclusively -- but the window of time would seem to be so short that I don't know how many options were even entertained.
