Me too. He is open for sleuthing as the last person to see Bob alive and per JBeans post about discussing him as a suspect. I recall reading, I think a post his wife added somewhere, his given birth last name is not Michaels, because he did not have a close relationship with his father he changed his surname to his middle name Michael, and uses Michaels. Does anyone know if he did that legally and when? I recall reading Julie stating her he was born in Ohio. No idea when he moved to CA.

I'd also like to see a criminal background run on him, but we might need his original surname for that....

anyone?

HUNTINGTON BEACH – A body was discovered in the middle of the Santa Ana River bed Thursday morning, authorities said.

Huntington Beach police got a 911 call about 9:30 a.m. after a passerby noticed a body on a sand bar in the riverbed near Adams Avenue and Brookhurst Street, Huntington Beach Fire Capt. Mike McClanahan said.

BRUCE CHAMBERS, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

The body appeared to have been there for a while, McClanahan said, adding it was unknown if it was a male or female.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene at around 10 a.m. and is handling the investigation, since it has jurisdiction over the Santa Ana River.

"As far as we know, it's not suspicious at this point," OCSD Lt. Mike Jansen said.

Winter storms created strong flows of water in the riverbed, but the water now is moving at a slow flow and at a level where people can walk through it in some spots, authorities said.

Thank you charminglane. There is a thread for the body found in Huntington Beach in the UID forum. Here's the link:

There are actually a few threads for human remains found in the immediate vicinity from which Bob went missing in the UID forum. They can be easily found by going to advanced search from the UID forum and searching by state prefix.

Yes, per daughter J, her husband is an Ohio boy! JM did change his name and was in Ca. for at least some of high school.

But did he change the name while in Ohio or in CA? and did he do so legally or is he using the name as a alias?

I'm assuming this hearing is still taking place next week --

30-2009-00291267-PR-CE-LJC HARROD - CONSERVATORSHIP LJC L72 01/20/11 01:30 PM Conservatorship Of Estate Only (P) Motion - Other

Was this in regard to the ex parte, or regarding enforcement of the settlement terms?

And yes, I'm sure we'd all like to know more about JM. After completing his errands/repairs in Bob's house, he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Bob's daughter R wrote on 5 August 2009: "My Bro-in-Law drove a long ways back to the area yesterday, just to distribute flyers in areas near Dad's home, since we were told that the neighborhood had been canvassed." I'm not sure why she needed to highlight the length of the drive (seeing as her sister J made it to 'change linens'). But I believe that is the last we heard of him, and we have never heard from him regarding Bob's murder.

Good question, Montjoy-it will be interested to get a transcript of that hearing as well if it goes forward.

JM-well there must be a copy of his name change info on file somewhere. If it happened as an adult, it would appear publicly I think. If it was a juvie thing and he was perhaps an emancipated minor, you might have to go before a judge to get the records. I wonder if LE would have the info?

  • #372
If JM went with Michaels as a minor any juvenille criminal records would be sealed. If we know that is his legal name since he was 18 then we could sleuth any criminal records with the Michaels name.

I'm curious to know what if any criminal history JM has.

hmmmm..

Maybe his body is in Running Springs covered by boulders from the area.

In reference to the court documents that ****** linked in the following post --

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - CA CA - Bob Harrod, 81, Orange County, 27 July 2009 - #5

I would like to quote some noteworthy passages.

-- "Bob's relationship with his daughters, in-laws, and grandchildren was by all accounts one characterized by torment and their constant demands for money. [...] He grew lonely after his wife's death and nonetheless gave generously to his family's demands: his three daughters and even his grandson, AH, live in residences either purchased outright or with the direct assistance of Bob. He also paid substantial amounts toward each of their monthly living expenses which grew larger and became the source of much contention with Bob after the passing of their mother, Georgia. This culminated in the daughters making a written demand upon both Bob and his estate planning lawyer [...], who demanded against their father's wishes the immediate disbursement and details regarding 'their' share of Bob's estate. The aggravation caused by Petitioners led Bob to demand in early 2009 that his daughters stay away from him."

-- "It is undisputed by Petitioners, under oath in deposition, that the night before his disappearance, Bob called all three daughters together at his residence to advise them of his intent to change his will to include Fontelle. Petitioners acknowledge t hat the argument became 'heated' and on the very next day the last person to see Bob alive was his youngest daugter J's husband, one JM, who claims to have been performing handyman services...."

Another bit of powerful writing: RB and PB stipulate that "...the monies owed to FH will be held in trust and can only be released once RB and PB are unilaterally satisfied that they have effectively denuded and emptied the residence of FH of all personal effects."

(And although we've discussed items on the so-called "memorabilia" list before, I still can't help but think that I must have a different sort of sentimentality than the Harrod daughters, who include gold coins and a bag of Krugerrands. Are they suffering from nostalgia about time they never spent in South Africa?)

Thank you for a fresh perspective, charming-what prompted you to post this? Are you familiar with the Running Springs area?

According to daughter J, husband JM graduated from Monrovia HS in 1969. Let's see what we can dig up.

It appears there is an update on the court website. I don't see the 1/20 hearing listed anymore under the Hearings section and something occurred this past Friday (1/14)?

Register of Actions:

12/9 Entry: (P) MOTION - OTHER SCHEDULED FOR 01/20/2011 AT 01:30:00 PM IN L72 AT LAMOREAUX JUSTICE CENTER.
