Maybe his job is done and he has wiped out 1% of expenses, so it's time to stop the free-fall of his Tesla brand.
I think it's too late for Tesla, unless Trump's supporters start buying it en masse. The brand is still being associated with Elon's Nazi salute.

True, yesterday I mentioned "republicans" in relation to this article. Republicans are quoted as seeing humour when Trump "taunts Canadians". Republicans believe that anyone who is not amused suffers from "Trump Derangement Syndrome" and their "heads explode". I do believe that Republicans knew exactly who Trump is when they elected him twice, and they see him as representing their values, goals and sense of humour.

No one in the world can understand how a country with 340 million people has only two old men suitable to run for president, where both of them have some questionable (mental) health issues. Explain that, and then we can understand why the democrats, like the republicans, failed to present a suitable contender.

"The retired U.S. Army Major sat down with CBC News, along with five other Republican voters in rural Kentucky, for candid conversations about President Donald Trump's return to power. ...

I just think it's funny when there's a lot of people with TDS, Trump derangement syndrome," she says, referring to the derogatory term used to describe negative reactions to Trump that are seen as irrational. "Their heads explode, and I think it's funny when he says that kind of stuff and gets a rise out of them."

🤣 I have wracked my brain as to how people could vote for him, let alone buy the stuff he sells (gold tennis shoes, watches, trading card NFTs, etc.) So strange. I think that is why I might have TDS half the time. My head hasn't exploded but it does blow my mind.

JMO, possibly one of the things that DJT supporters didn't like about Biden's economy was the higher interest rates. The personal debt in this country is astounding. Maybe they blamed Biden for THEIR credit card debt. This seems to be common from what I've observed - blame someone else. I was speaking with a DJT supporter and she confirmed she is looking forward to interest rates going down because her husband owns a small business in the trades. She indicated when interest rates are high, he does not get as much business. I don't know what his small business will be like in a recession, but we might find out.

I can't see Trump supporters buying Tesla since the appeal of Tesla was that it reduced greenhouse emissions. Trump supporters traditionally have not been concerned about the environment in this way. I predict that they will stick to their "American" made pick up trucks. ;)

I hope everyone in the USA feels like they have been properly prepped to be victims of everyone in the world! I hope that they feel like they are victims for a very long time. It will be a refreshing change from the decades of the USA claiming to be the best. Today, they are sad victims.

Interesting!

If 118 pounds of fentanyl kills 26 million people, then 7793 pounds of fentanyl will kill 1700 million people. 7793 pounds is what was stopped at the Mexican border.

I'll go back to my original point. In the USA, especially amongst Republicans, gun law states that the manufacturer and supplier of guns is not responsible for murder rates. The gun buyer and user is 100% responsible. Murderers have mental health issues.

Similarly, drug suppliers are not responsible for drug use. Drug users are responsible for drug abuse. They too have mental health issues.

Canada is not responsible for mental health problems in the USA. Canada cannot solve USA drug and murder rate problems. Drug users who run out of one illegal drug will find another one to replace it. Canada cannot fix that. National health care is the best option.

I don't think anyone is downplaying the seriousness of the fentanyl problem and the dangers and loss of life it presents. Fine to wage a war on drugs or declare a national emergency, but to use the drug as an excuse to declare economic war on what has always been your closest neighbour and ally is just totally irrational.

CBSA stats 2024 - 2025 show 4590 grams (approx 10 lbs) of fentanyl seized at the Canadian border. Canada has a population of approx 40 million By comparison, the US with a population of 340 million, almost 10 times the population of Canada, is justifying economic warfare on Canada based on the drug coming into their country at basically 4 times the amount at which it enters Canada.

I am watching an entire nation , once thought to be smart-ish, once thought to be savvy and astute, shoot it's own feet off. oh well. ce la vie! as the old folks used to say, ..... it goes to show you never can tell !!!

. I saw Britain do this, not so long ago, and watch them today writhe and scream and howl and sob at their own idiocy... as they limp on into ever decreasing economic ghastliness... dearie me..

Idiotic. But that's Trump for you.
Hate to say, but most clothing is made in those countries, owned by USA. So I picture a Target tee shirt that would be about $8 ish or so will be 15. (not that I can do the math but basics like this from typical general and super popular department stores will be much higher, oh that's the plan). I cannot even FATHOM this reality of these tariffs.

I find it difficult to believe it's all Mexican cartels, too. Don't tell me that some business minded Americans are not in the game,.. they would not let Mexicans corner the market and fentanyl dealers don't care who they sell it to...

I think it's too late for Tesla, unless Trump's supporters start buying it en masse. The brand is still being associated with Elon's Nazi salute.

There are multiple factors in the drop in Tesla's revenue and share price. Sales have dropped to the lowest number since 2022.

Certainly, public sentiment about his apparenty unrestrained access and manipulation of jobs in the Federal government is a big factor in the US. His strong alliance with right-wing German groups and yeah that Nazi salute is another reason why Europe is turning away from Tesla. He's also too strongly associated with the US and Trump for Europeans to tolerate, now that the tariffs are on.

There is also a lot more competition in the US based EV market, including US-made Toyota, Hundai, and Honda models.

The bread-and-butter Tesla Model Y badly needs an upgrade and potential buyers were shunning those on the lots, waiting for the upgrades. The upgrade was supposed to come out in the fall, but the predictions for that have been changed or obscured. The push now is for the taxi / driverless systems, but that is an unproven market.

Chinese imports are taking off in smaller foreign markets that Tesla was ignoring, essentially. China's BYD is getting really favorable reviews for their very up-to-date technology and the 5-minute charger for a much better price than Tesla's.

So it's not all about him, but his failure to really pay attention to the really challenging markets and how to keep Tesla current is really hurting them. Companies and pension fund managers who have been investing in Tesla have started to criticize him as misrepresenting the amount of time he is spending on Tesla, and have told Tesla shareholders so.

The much-touted Cybertruck has severely undersold the hype and projections. It ended up costing a huge amount more than the initial projections in the marketing. There are persistent quality issues with the Cybertruck and the most recent recalls because of glue failure on metal strips that end up falling into the roadway are just another annoyance for what had been a $90,000 vehicle. Add this to the 25 critical system errors that new owners were finding within a month of taking delivery and you have a severely degrading reputation. Musk touted 500,000 sales a year when he introduced the Cybertruck. The last quarter 2024 numbers showed 12,991 sales.

This was my TV screen. First thought: drama queen.

The USA has been "raped" by the global community. 340 million victims were born today on USA Tariff Day.

Even though conservative media is touting 10%, financial analysts are saying that it is really operationaly a 20% tariff.

USAnians are going to be tightening their belts and it will have severe effects on multiple sectors, now that it is out in the open.

Now we wait for the very large shoes to drop from China and the rest of Asian markets, then we'll hear from Europe. I think Trump can kiss off that access to the Panama Canal he thought he was going to get throught the sale of the two port operations.

Awful, used specifically to keep the MAGA'S on side and to reiterate his lies about well, nearly everything!

And his Tesla failed in Top Gear's rigorous review of the product .... its brakes failed, the engine overheated, the battery died after 88km, and it took 16 hours to recharge.

Did Musk really step down or is this a belated April Fool's joke?

ETA:

Trump Tells Inner Circle That Musk Will Leave Soon

The president remains pleased with Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency initiative, but both men have decided in recent days that it will soon be time for Musk to return to his businesses and take on a supporting role, according to three Trump insiders who were granted anonymity to describe the evolving relationship.

Probably Musk is bored. He has been dragging his 3 year old around to protect him and Trump for long enough, his AI is doing the work of sniffing out those evil foreign students social media posts, and there is a mission to Mars to plan with the Russians.

imo
